It's always hilarious to me to hear LA news guys talking about car chases the way Ohio news reporters talk about rush hour traffic here

Edit because OP already included the link to Fox10. Good call, those guys have historically been fun during these things, reading Tweets and not taking themselves very seriously. Their coverage of the standoff at Chris Brown's house was legitimately entertaining.

When did watching police chases become popular? I feel like OJ was the first one I saw live, but moves like The Chase came out before that so it was definitely a thing.
 
The reporter is really cheery.

Edit: I just realized.. why is Fox Phoenix covering a chase in LA?

It's the Fast & Furious Axiom, which states that car chases multiply exponentially in the weeks before and after a movie in the series releases in theaters.
