So how does someone legit get away? I don't understand how it's possible with chopper cams on you the entire time.

Someone jumped out and went into a storm drain once. Not sure if they were ever caught.

Someone jumped out under some trees and let the car roll down the hill in a neighborhood and managed to evade police for a good 30 minutes to an hour.

Honestly, you need a high density location where you are able to disappear into a large crowd of people. There was a chase where the driver went through the USC campus and it looked like an amazing opportunity to lose the police.

That's the LAPD move for chases. They just follow along at a distance until the driver makes a mistake, gives up, or starts getting reckless.
