I like min/maxing, but I don't like snapping games in half. If a game lets me really beef up my team, it better either scale as well or require that level of breaking the game as a minimum for even being able to compete.

Yeah, I agree. Just noting that it's one thing to say "you can't just grind!" and other things about how the game "will work" when players will find the optimal things to do that may or may not be intended.
