Liveblog thread for 3DS new Nintendo IP announcement (Code Name STEAM)

Ah man, I'm quite worried about one difficulty... Difficulty settings can make all the difference with strategy games.

Does Advance Wars have difficulty settings? I don't recall seeing them. If that's the case, I don't know why people would worry about it.

Steampunk gives the game a more American feel? Isn't steampunk traditionally used for British settings? Or are they going for an smokestacky kind of steampunk?

huh? I'm guessing you are thinking shdowrun like steampunk.. wrong genre. move back 100 years or so to victorian era.. ala Jules Verne and such. That is almost all exclusively victorian era london, which is why they used that genre for the reasons they gave.

No. Game was apparently very early so there wasn't much point.

No, I don't think so.

No, it's just Starfox 64 graphics/gameplay with gamepad controls at the moment. I don't think the actual original game has even underwent further development beyond that yet.

Thanks for the replies.

A bit disappointing but I understand given that the screenshot in the leaked Time article looked like it was straight out of Star Fox 64.

Has that been confirmed somewhere? The ship doesn't turn into a tank in Starfox 64, they're separate vehicles, and there was nothing like the helicopter either.

Oh shoot. Atlus huh. Not IS. Hype deflated only slightly and by slightly I mean like 25%. How is it nobody at the closed door event passed out or spontaneously combusted?

I'm not sure, I'm just saying that myself based on the one screenshot we've gotten. There could be more significant alterations to the prototype on top of the N64 game to test out things, but I can't imagine it has much of it running yet enough to show outside of closed door sessions possibly.

Michael "TYP" Cole: A: advance wars composer hirano is working on this. Similar to days of ruin in style. Music has both 19th century string-type instruments and rock music for the steam punk. Music is dynamic, to reflect enemy awareness of danger, etc.

Okay, music sounds crazy.

Where was the brief/old footage of Starfox shown? Any GIFs?

Isn't it out of the ordinary for Nintendo to confirm games that early in development?
