Logitech PSP case

I have mine pre-ordered and paid off in full at an EB Games and they said that they're getting them in tomorrow (while other stores have had them out for days...).

Got it a few days ago, 20 bucks at Rhino Video Games

The case just protects, no storage for anything but the PSP

Done any testing on the case? I hear it's pretty damn strong

Picked one up this past friday at Rhino as well. Pretty good investment. However I'm not sold on the whole sunvisor use of the case. Sure, it can block the sun, but the ambient light outside still tends to cause the screen to appear unusable.

Why would they leave the back open like that? This case would be nice to put in a bag, but with the back open it could still get scratched and scuffed.

It's survived among a group of 3 potheads and an alcoholic pretty well.. I think I sat on it when it was in my back pocket I think... heh.. it's a nice case though

Think there will be any issues of debris coming in through the openings for the headphones, power port, or shoulderbuttons? I'm thinking it wouldn't be much of a problem since the PSP is supposed to be really snug in there (worst case is it'd scratch or mess with that directly open area) but i'm still a tad gunshy to just throw it in a bag because i don't want debris getting in the case and then scratching up the PSP.

Yeah, I, too, got mine from Rhino. Since they're usually LATE on getting things in, I find it funny how they already had it in stock.

Anyway, beyond the obvious benefits....it actually fits in my pocket *better* than the soft case that comes in the value pack, which I had been using. Its likely because the outside of the case is smooth and doesn't catch on the fabric. Also, if you play with the PSP inside the case, it pads out your hands a little bit, so for those who were getting cramping, it might help a little since there is that extra space to curve your hand around the machine. It does make the whole thing a bit bulkier, but that's mostly aesthetic, anyway.

I know it isn't the same quality as the Logitech casing, or offers as much protection, but I picked up Pelican's screen shield over the weekend; it's a plastic screen guard for the PSP that flips up and down; it only covers the front of the system, so you don't have to remove to change games and such. Works great and was only $6.

I too can attest to the quality of the Pelican Screen Shield. It's simple, it's effective, it works to protect the screen. I've been using it since launch, plus keeping my PSP and games in a GBA case, and I'm 100% scratch-free. It adds almost no extra bulk to the unit so it slips right into a pocket.

Of course, the Logitech offers full protection, not just the screen, but some people may not want to remove the psp to change games.

I accidently dropped my psp while helping this lady who busted her ass on the train today. The cheap pelican case did a good job of prottecting my psp. I still want to pick up a logitech case though.

The original Rhino that started it all: Butler Plaza in Gainesville, FL.

Rhino is still there? Cool :) That's sort of a blast from the past for me. I got a used copy of Secret of Mana from that store back in the days as an undergrad at UF... Good times :)

It will be mine soon, on sale on the Japanese site now.

...A... PSP Condom?

Come to think of it, that might make the D-Pad more manageable for fighters like Darkstalkers. I can't imagine the buttons being too comfortable like that, though.

Hmm do you need to take PSP out of the case to change games?
I normally just open it the case so that the rear flips up and then open the psp and swap games. You don't have to necessarily remove it from the case.

As for protection, I've got a good bud of mine who had his Japanese PSP crushed while riding a bus, so I'm a bit paranoid about it getting destroyed in my pocket or in my bag.

:lol That's the same way I carry around my PSP and games. :) The GBA case I have is still better than all of the PSP cases out right now.

Having to remove the cover to change games is an incredibly stupid design flaw IMO. It's like turning the PSP into an N-Gage.

I think I told them that story way back in the Japanese Launch thread. :(

Its nothing like the N-Gage. It just sits in the case, its not screwed, attached, or anything of the sort. You just lift it out, like you would with any other case (i.e. the one that comes in the value pack), and put in a game. You don't have to screw/unscrew stuff, etc. That would be stupid.

Just got mine in today. It's very solid, and the PSP fits very nicely inside. It's a bit heavy, and playing it while in the case, while possible, isn't very practical. I just take it out, play, and then stick it back in the case when I'm done.

On a side note, the packaging is a bitch to open. I hate that plastic shit where you have to destroy the packaging and risk severing an artery just to get the product out.

It's good stuff though. My PSP is happy.

This is a great case, I approve.

I picked up mine yesterday (ordered online I forgot to mention) and haven't had problems using the PSP while it's in the case.

I got the PDAir leather book style case and I love it.

It looks and feels great and gives enough protection if you take minimum care of your PSP (dont drop it etc.). You can change the UMDs pretty easily. The best thing is the PSP holds better, especially with big hands.

I dont use an extra screen protector, the case doesnt leave any scratches (at least none I can see).

Not the cheapest, but you can import it from Hongkong for some 15 bucks incl. shipping (although I dont know if those sellers are reliable).

After reading this thread I took a trip to the local Rhino after work to pick up the Logitech case. I wanted something to complement my Pelican and protect the whole unit while it's in a bag or suitcase.

My brief impressions so far are: It's merely okay.

1. It adds a LOT of bulk to the unit. With the Logitech case on, I feel like I'm lugging around a Game Gear. Plus, it no longer fits into my GBA padded soft pouch. :(

2. The unit is not really attached in any way to the case. It just lays in there. Slip while opening it and your unprotected PSP could flop right out into the floor.

3. There's some rubber padding, but it's pretty hard, and I doubt it would offer any shock protection at all. If you dropped the unit, the case would prevent any scuffs or scratches but the shock would be almost completely transferred to the PSP, and it may still be damaged. IMO you still need some kind of padded case to go with this.

4. The clear plastic it's made of may be polycarbonate armor, but it sure looks like cheap acrylic plastic to me. Not saying it's cheap, just saying it doesn't look as sexy as I first imagined.

Bottom line for me is to: 1. Use the Pelican around the house and day to day. And 2. Use the Logitech while traveling, camping, hiking etc. Those times when you need full body protection.
