How's this guy a Member with only 2 posts?

lol dont worry about that.

The true Torah was revealed to Moses but the torah of today wasnt.
Because according to "Who wrote the bible?" and Quran it underwent much textual corruption.

No offense but I'm not so sure that going to a website about Judaism provided by a guy who calls himself SwordofIslam is going to give me the most unbias view.

damnit.. now its annoying. the 10 commandments were revealed to moses.. the torah was written afterward.. unlike the Christian bible, the torah has remained mostly unchanged for for quite some time.

but now you are entering the religious squabble zone.

:) I am not trying to start anything, I just want to get my facts straight thats all.

Revealed and written are two things.
Revealed is that someone or in this case somebeing told you.
Written is that you put it on paper or something.
The torah was Reavealed to mose he told the Israelites then it was written down after moses yes?

yes yes, i concede, . revealed and such..

but he still doesnt need a link saying the q'uran is the most accurate source since. blah blah blah. he is asking for the origins of judaism, not a battle for who's religion is more accurate.

anyway, here is an interesting link that you can use:: http://www.jewfaq.org/origins.htm

here is some info on the Torah: http://www.jewfaq.org/torah.htm

Well, I seem to recognize the Username SwordofIslam. Maybe his posts were erased somehow but his tag remained the same?

quadriplegicjon thanks for the links. That is exactly what I was looking for. It seems that a lot of what makes Judaism is found in the Talmud and Mishnah is that correct?

be warned - there's a lot of misinformation out there about the origins of Judaism. If you go from the standpoint that the Torah is telling an accurate story you get a very different picture than what you get by accepting archaelogical evidence as accurate.

If I remember correctly, members with long tenure but low post counts were "grandfathered in" as full-fledged members when the whole junior-members-can't-post thing got started. I don't know if that's the case here, but it wouldn't surprise me.

I wanted to avoid the whole junior-member thing, so -jinx- is correct. I just waited and waited and hoped that the term junior-member wont show up on my tag and it didnt.
But I never knew you guys was so nosey :)

He did bring me to you guys didnt he?

I've just read everything around me and I'm bored I figured take a stab at religious history.

As I said before, you'd be well-served to consider a variety of secular historical texts on Judaism rather than a strictly biblical/Torah/Talmud interpretation. There are a number of historical and logical inconsistincies in the history of Judaism, so it's something to consider.

Yeah, I agree 100% I'm looking for secular interpertaions of Judaism for all religions. I know Isaac Asimov had a book on the bible that I read briefly in the 10th grade I'd love to get my hands on that.
