I already got Ninja Scroll, Ghost in the Shell and Akira. I need suggestions since i'm going on yet another asian dvds buying spree. Spare me from the mana/lets save the environnement tripe.

Is castle in the sky any good? What about Steam boy?

edit: Jin Roh? is that any good?

I recently bought a bunch of Ghibli films, Kiki's Delivery Service, Laputa, and Princess Mononoke.

Kiki's Delivery Service is much more for younger children than any of the others. I like the premise and the story [It's basically a bunch of shorter stories based on these Delivery's she makes as a Witch], but It could have asily branched out into a TV series, IMO.

Laputa's pretty funny, and the castle itself is really nice, very imaginitive style and chases throughout.

I haven't finished Mononoke yet, but from the looks of it it's a lot more dark. People get heads and arms cut off [No Tarintino blood splatter though, might just be the Disney cut], but it's looking very nice.

Vampire Hunter D looks really nice, haven't seen it though.

Grave of the Fireflies is pretty depressing, but very well done. About 2 kids trying to live through the second World War.

The Cowboy Bebop movie is good if you like Cowboy Bebop. It stands by itself pretty well too.

Can't think of too many else.

DECK'ARD

The Amiga Brotherhood
Oh yeah, forgot about Perfect Blue and Millennium Actress.

Millennium Actress is an amazing film. Still got to watch Tokyo Godfathers.

And mustn't forget The Cat Returns either :)

Also, while it's only 34 minutes long, Cat Soup is really well worth checking out. Tripped out and really good. :)

You can't go wrong with any Slayers movie, and they're usually bargain-priced.

Speaking of bargain-priced, Gunsmith Cats: Bulletproof is 10 dollars, and it's a good 90 minutes (three same story episodes- flow seemlessly).

Vampire hunterd: Blood lust is really awesome. (not to be confused with the old 80's version)

Spriggan is a fun ride as well.

Tokyo Godfathers. Hell, anything Satoshi Kon is godly.
Damn right. Perfect Blue, Millenium Actress, Tokyo Godfathers. Hell, dig up the 13 episodes of Paranoia Agent and make a Satoshi Kon party out of it. :)

And yeah, Laputa is quite good. Nausicaa is excellent. Yeah, it's got the whole environmentalist thing going too, but it's such a great movie.

Castle of Cagliostro. Lupin III and Hayao Miyazaki. It's literally impossible, when it comes to anime, to get any more classic than that.

The Bebop movie is pretty good, though it really does come off as just being a 2 hour Bebop episode (or however long it is).

And Grave of the Fireflies...if you like your animation as depressing as possible.

Darn this board's lack of an edit feature. Really, is the ability to edit posts that much to ask? Anyway..

My Neighbor Totoro
Perfect Blue
Royal Space Force: Wings of Honneamise (beward the DVD, it's an interlaced master flagged as progressive, so when it gets spit out of a dvd player onto a non-progressive display, it gets interlaced again -- looks fuzzy)
Tokyo Godfathers
Millenium Actress
Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence
Only Yesterday
Princess Mononoke
Whisper of the Heart and it's spinoff, The Cat Returns
Grave of the Fireflies (tearjerker, if you don't cry you are inhuman)
Spirited Away
Steamboy (SHOULD be good, Otomo's only been working on it for like 10 years or something -- he's the dude who did Akira, you should like it)
Pom Poko
I Can Hear the Sea / Ocean Waves (one of my favorites of the Ghibli films)
Galaxy Express 999
Adieu Galaxy Express 999
Arcadia of My Youth
Memories
Patlabor 1
Patlabor 2
WXIII: Patlabor 3
Roujin Z

And of course, the best of them all: SPRIGGAN! (I joke, Commrades! This is possibly the worst anime movie ever)

Castle of Caligastro Lupin the III...
YES YES YES

How did I forget about this? Castle of Caligastro, Mystery of Mamo, Secret of Twilight Gemini, Dark Order of Assassination, and Search for Harimao's Treasure = total immersive awesomeness.

Dead or Alive is great Lupin also. There may be a more recent Lupin movie that trumps it, though, I'm not sure.

I was about to say you could edit your posts until I saw you can't anymore. Is this because of Olimario? :p

My recommendations are just about anything Studio Ghibli makes.
