I've only recently started watching TV. I've always had it, but never watched much of it. Then I was introduced to House. Anyways, to name a few series I've been watching as of late:
House (was awesome till season 4, didn't watch season 5 yet)
Dexter (awesome)
Arrested Development (didn't like it much)
The Office (US, the Brit one is too British for me. Love it.)
Greek (don't hate me :( I enjoy the humor)

So GAF, throw some suggestions at me =D

Dead Like Me
Firefly
Angel
Battlestar Galactica
Brisco County Jr.
V

Find the show: Something is Out There it was pretty bad ass.

24, highly addictive, legitimately intense and exciting with a pretty good story.
House gets awesome again, don't worry.
Dexter is fucking awesome, glad you enjoy it.
Prison Break, I'm a big fan of the whole, hatching a huge plan to escape prison gimmick. I like the concept and premise of the show alot.

Ummmmm...What else......................

Oh yeah, I think it was cancelled, but My Own Worst Enemy was FUCKING fantastic. I loved that show alot.

Go watch Lost. All of it is on ABC.com, for free in HD.

Plus the usual (The Wire/Shield/The Sopranos/30 Rock/Chuck/etc, etc, etc, etc.).

Shit, I forgot those 2: Chuck, especially season 2, is incredible. Most entertaining show on TV by far (but it's a little shallow).

And 30 Rock is amazing as well.

In the wake of the Sopranos, this is like the last great hope. It's marvelous and a damn shame that it doesn't get the viewership of the former or the promotion it deserves from Showtime.

The problem with being a LOST fanatic is that everything goes back to LOST.

that is last lady who teaches Desmond in "Flashes Before Your Eyes" right?

Dead Like Me is probably the closest thing to Dexter, but it's not that close.

It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia is better than the Office. Arrested Development is better than the Office. The Office was charming for a few years, but all of the characters are fucking repulsive now.

I just finished watching Band of Brothers and Spaced. I kind of want to watch something Scifi that isn't Doctor Who or Firefly.

I haven't seen any Star Trek. Ever. I kind of want to. Would it be okay if I started on TNG instead of TOS? I want me some Patrick Stewart.

I haven't seen The Sopranos either. I saw the entire box set in store today and thought about picking it up, but I don't really know anything about it.

Yeah; I don't watch TV much.

There's lots of great recent stuff. Battlestar Galactica, Friday Night Lights, The Shield, The Wire, Mad Men, 24 and Pushing Daisies are all great.

I also recently got into How I Met Your Mother and i LOVE it. Give that a shot if you're looking for a nice sitcom.

Just steer clear of Lost and Fringe, cos they are trash.

Battlestar Galactica is your answer.

Something is Out There: A made for TV miniseries that tells the tale of a hot british speaking alien who teams up with some city cop to hunt down a xenomorph. Really it was cool, then it got a TV series which was actually still cool.

V: If you haven't seen the V miniseries' then fucking stop posting and go buy it. Awesome sci-fi, truly classic just avoid the actual TV series.

I've always wanted to get into Battlestar but I have no bloody idea what it's about or which "Battlestar Galactica" is the right one. Pretty much any time an entire show isn't in a single DVD package I'll wimp out and not buy it on the chance I don't like it then I'm left with a part of a series I don't like.

Do I start with that 3 hour miniseries and go from there?

Uhm...surprised this hasn't been mentioned before, but check out 'Heroes'. It's amazing :) Except for Season 2...that's really meh, but it picks up again in Season 3.

Yeah, just start with the miniseries. It's by no means the best this show has to offer, but is a great setup to the series.

I'd say having no bloody idea what it is about is a very good thing. :)

ill recommend firefly because it is pretty well written and you can find the entire series online legally.

But seriously, 24. You must watch this show. Each season is completely self contained so if you get through the first and arent really feeling it you arent stopping in the middle of some plot point.

It had its moments, but when watching it side by side with The Office it just couldn't stand up.
Nope.

Also, the television series you're looking for is Ben 10. New Season just came out today and he totally uses his watch to turn into aliens. And then fight other aliens. And sea lions.

Will echo Friday Night Lights, How I Met Your Mother, 30 Rock, Mad Men, The Wire, and Lost of the options offered, and will suggest that you give Fringe a try - while I understand why Spotless and others have issues, if you enjoy a procedural like House you might also enjoy Fringe.

Also, don't feel bad about liking Greek - it's a darn charming show. For something in a similar vein, check out Veronica Mars. It's a really sharp show, and has a similar (and to most minds, superior) vibe to it. Season 1, in particular, is fantastic.

My other suggestion will be Sons of Anarchy - I'm only starting it now, but it's really enjoyable. I'm also watching an episode right now, so it was an easy selection to make.

Psych is not even the best show on USA - that's Burn Notice. OP's already seen Dex. Supernatural and Chuck are good mentions, though.

totally forgot Burn Notice, but yea..................Psych and Burn Notice are my favorite on USA

House (was awesome till season 4, didn't watch season 5 yet)

If you didnt like season 4, you're not going to like season 5. It's worse, much much worse. Maybe 2 or 3 episodes are good and that's about it. They might as well remain the show 13 MD because she's the main attraction in every fucking episode. How can you have a character that is bisexual and has a disease that's killing her and she's still fucking boring as fuck? They need more of Wilson and all he does is show up for 1 scene and say "house you're a moron"

btw watch Battlestar Galactica, The Wire, The shield, and Chuck. We need more people watching Chuck.

The first season comes with the miniseries as the first disc.
I just remembered Kritz is an aussie, so he has to pick it up separately. It isn't included in the season 1 set for some stupid reason, which leads to much confusion. >_>

It hasn't been mentioned because Heroes is the second worst show on television. It's a show that wants you to know it has more important things to deal with than narrative structure.

Serials: Deadwood, The Shield, Firefly, Battlestar Galactica, Carnivale (though it ends before it finishes), Lost

Comedies: It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, South Park

Other Procedural: Monk, Psych, X-Files, Highlander

The Wire, Rome, Deadwood, Carnivale, I liked the 1st season of BSG but I never finished the 2nd season because it was so boring.

Dead Like Me

I just started watching this and it is amazing I promise you. The way it fleshes out minor characters is awesome and the lead characters are good too. Highly recommended.

Lost has to be first on your list. Chuck is great as well. I'd tell you to watch Pushing Daisies but it's cancelled so I guess there's no point in doing that now. 24 can be fun (especially the first season) and for comedy, you've already picked my favorite in The Office so. You may enjoy Entourage too but I don't watch it that much.

Lost is my #1 show.

Other shows I'm following this season:

House, Chuck, The Office, Survivor

First time I've followed Survivor in a while but I'm glad I did. This season is great.

I'd say check out Chuck, it's definitely worth checking out, but personally I'm hoping for a little modification to the formula soon.

Oh! Top Gear. It's basic premise is that it's a car show, but it's so much more than that. I'm not what anyone would call a gearhead, but I'm watching it ASAP every Sunday.

The best part is there's a massive backlog of episodes to watch whenever you're board, most are great, very entertaining.
