Looks like "Snake's Nightmare" in MGS 3 is actually...

A new KCEJ title by the name of "Guy Savage", that's not officially been announced

Director: Shuya Murata
Format: Playstation 2

I haven't played it, but for those who have, enjoyed it?

Ah, interesting...

Oh, and for the sake of those that haven't played the game yet, let's try to avoid spoiling anything. :)

That was a very surreal moment for me, I must say. I was playing MGS3 with my sibling sitting beside me watching. We had quit playing just upon reaching the prison cell the night before. So, I went through the normal routine of loading the game and we were simply talking during this. I wasn't really watching the screen or anything, but when I DID turn around and look...I was seriously confused. The way they managed to introduce that section was just aweome. The game itself seemed fairly simple, but it WAS early and intended for use in MGS3. The mechanics and visuals were better than plenty of other similar games, though.

It's pretty cool, but really early as well, you can tell there's some definite potential there. I personally liked ripping the guts of my enemies when I get powered up. :P

Are you sure it's a real game? The credits make it seem like it was made just for MGS3.

In the bases, there are some posters with that Redfield/Renfield/whatever fellow that Para-Medic mentions prior to getting access to the game. Seems like too much work for a mini-game, and I've seen other people talking about there being an unannounced KCEJ title in the pipeline before MGS3 was released.

How does the game play and look like? Can one of you make some captures or photos of it? MGS3 PAL still 3 months away :(

Ah man, see? Wouldn't it have been so much cooler if you had no idea that it was present in the game?

I've heard of that nightmare game weeks before this thread :). Can't resist...But since it's not an important part of MGS3 itself, I don't care. Just want to know how it is.

What's the source that this is a real game? Or is this just speculation?

Because in the MGS3 credits, it simply says Snake's Nightmare - Guy Savage. And the director is Shuyo Murata. Anyone could have taken the title and made that image. Unless there's an official source I'm not buying it.

Oh and anyone who says anything about those posters again should die, they're not related to Guy Savage at all. They're art pieces from the website of an illustrator that works at Konami. His fan work was featured as poster easter eggs in the Silent Hill games as well.

Renfield is a Dracula reference, if you didn't get that make you should listen to Paramedic and watch more movies. Oh and the character IN the game itself? It's just Paramedic's model with a tricked out costume. If you stop playing the game and just center the camera you'll see.

The in-game posters have nothing to do with Guy Savage. They're art from a fansite called Tirn Aill, by a guy named Hiro Usuda. He may or may not be a freelancer for Konami. You can see posters for the site in Silent Hill 3, too.

Renfield is a character from Dracula by Bram Stoker. He also has nothing to do with Tirn Aill or Guy Savage.

nice. i was hoping it would be. the version in mgs3 is obviously rather simple, but the basics are in place for a really good game. definitely the highlight was prying open your enemies' ribcages. neat effect. and 60 fps! murata rocks.

I'm not big on either Bram Stoker or Dracula, but that IS a bit embarrasing, I admit...

I've heard people saying the character model is just Para-Medic's, but after zooming in and checking it out myself, I'm still not convinced. There is a resemblance, but it's hard to tell with the slightly androgynous look of the character.

I've played MGS3 until the end and I saw no Snake's Nightmare. How can I unlock this feature?

Thanks.

After Snake gets tortured and you are taken to your jail cell, save the game, then reset and load that save, and you'll start the nightmare.

Yeah, I got through the whole game, but never saved at that point nor even died. In fact, only after reading some FAQ did I even know that such a mini-game exists. I think Konami should've put some hints, or have your team suggest that you take rest and come back later.

Does anyone know where I can see some screenshots of "Snake's Nightmare?" I don't own MGS3 nor am I sure when I'm going to pick it up, but I'm very curious about this.

They did. Para-Medic says that you may have nighmares if you fall asleep now, and she talks about Vampire movies in depth.

I remember the thing about Vampire movies (although I don't remember when she said it), but I don't recall anything about Snake getting nightmares if he were to fall asleep. Oh, well.

That is a very, very vague hint.

In fact, her warning you about nightmares is actually your team suggesting that you not go to sleep.
