I thought Walt was supposed to show up.

I'll leave it short out of respect for you guys...but I did not like that ending at all.

oh well.

Okay, so the island was
purgatory/judgement
and the sideways glances were
the true afterlife?
What the hell, they denied that theory so many times. GG Lost. >:( At least it was an uplifting way to end things.

Lost went all BSG on us after all.

i don't see hand waving with fucking IT WAS ALL GOD's PLAN.

An entire season of side ways universe retelling the most important connections and relationships is a fitting end of the show.

THIS IS SO MUCH BETTER BSG's bullshit ending.

so they died in the crash and the whole story was just made up by all the characters? and the LA_X was them trying to make it to heaven

No! Everything that happened after the crash happened!

The characters that died, died.

Hurley and Bens conversation implies that they went on as a team for some time.

The heaven that they were in was years ago, after ALL of them had died.

Was it purgatory or did they just die instantly and he was kinda dreaming?

I kinda took it as they all lived and what happened actually happened, and Jack died on the island and everyone else escaped and lived and then died in their own due time.

So, can one assume the last shots of the plane debris while the credits ran insinuates that they all actually died during the crash?

Everyone keeps saying "no, the island was real" but then why in the world did they show that last shot?

Christian said "Some of them died before you, some long after." They didn't all die in the crash, the whole show wasn't purgatory. I expect this post to be ignored.

I don't get why people think it's Purgatory. Everything on the island happened but this fake reality/heaven was created so they could all find each other after they died.

As I collect my thoughts, I keep coming back to this:
The closing to Lost has been satisfying and rewarding in more ways than I could have conceived.

What an ending. ;_;

Wait wait, I get that LA X/Sideways is an afterlife of sorts, with no actual "when" (which is why Miles is there with Lapidis, even though they left the island), but how is Sun preggers if it's the afterlife? How was Aron born? You have children in the afterlife? Or were those manifestations of their own wills?

??? Confusion!

I want to recap.

Hurley was made the most important person on the show, and is the one genuinely good person on that Island.

Ben redeemed himself and lived on after our show ends, in the form of the new Richard (who also lived, despite my belief but to my delight).

Jack died, but not before admitting that he has been wrong at every single decision he's made in his life.

I couldn't have asked for a better finale. I wouldn't have believed it if you proposed it because it would make me too happy with the events :lol

The island wasn't purgatory. The alt timeline was. They all were there waiting. They couldn't move on without being together

Which is why Walt et. al. aren't there, they escaped and moved on and all that stuff. They weren't part of "the group".

IT WASN'T PURGATORY!

Everything that happened Seasons 1 -> 5, actually happened.

The season 6 flash sideways were this weird mixture of heaven, purgatory, and collective consciousness!
