Nobody is saying the island isn't "real."
 
Everything on the Island is real, FST is like a cosmic waiting room to heaven for some of the important people from 815 and the island.
 
It's been 5 minutes and I'm still jittery and teary-eyed. I was just gone the moment Vincent lied down next to Jack. Nothing will ever top this. I don't even want to watch it again.

No, the stuff on the island was real life man. ONLY THE FLASH sideways was anything other than absolutely real.

There are no semantics, only your misunderstanding.

I like this, but don't really understand the end then with the light. Were they moving on to the afterlife? How the hell did Christian come back?
 
Up until almost the very end I thought the finale was surprisingly unsurprising and I couldn't imagine how they could make sense of the flash sideways in the few remaining minutes. But that ending was brilliant. I'm stunned.
 
EVERYONE READ THIS POST. It will make you see how truly awesome the finale was.

The island was not purgatory. The alt timeline was. It was created when Juliet died and went there from the atom bomb. Everyone on the island was real and happened. Jack went to the alt timeline when he died in the bamboo sticks.

They couldn't move on without each other.
 
My god. That was fantastic. Just... wow. Way better than I expected. Hardest I've ever cried at at TV show. That final sequence was just perfectly shot.

Honestly the purgatory thing for the alt timeline is kind of annoying, but I have no complaints because of how epic this ending was.

And the great thing about this ending is that it isn't really cheapened like other endings for shows. There are still some questions...but they aren't really worth bothering with because of how wonderful the ending was. The point is that the characters all succeeded in everyway...and what they do from here is limitless.

I'm absolutely satisfied.

No it wasn't. The entire flash sideways is purgatory, that's where they all came together and that's why only the people there to the very end were there. The island was as real as the world around it.

Michael is stuck in purgatory on the island.

Walt never needed to move on with the others. He lived most of his life away from the island, before all of the shit went down.
 
For those confused about Desmond:

He was still time traveling. He just happened to time travel to AFTER he was dead.


That's why he was the only one to see the X verse. He just didn't realize he was dead when he flashed there.

When she tells Jack she missed him so much, it was clear as day what was going to happen. I still loved it still stood with my mouth open and tearing up like a baby
 
Once someone was "enlightened" in the alt-timeline, they had full knowledge of their island timeline lives, including their own deaths.
 
I loved how the afterlife/sideways was explained. My only beef was about how little about the island was explained. I realize that was by design to keep things "mysterious" but man.. so many weird things left forever unexplained.

I'm NOT saying it wasn't "real life." I'm saying it functioned exactly as a purgatory. It was a waiting zone, and then either make it to heaven, or you don't.

This is why I'm saying it's an issue of semantics. I'm not saying purgatory as some ghost world or whatever. I'm talking about its function.

Again, Michael appears to be quite stuck there, no? The whispers?
 
Ugh, I feel stupid. Amazing, speechless, absolutely brilliant are some of the comments yet I still do know what all this is suppose to mean or what was the point of the island and them running around on it doing all that shit for all these years.

that took my extremely high expectations and shat on them for being too low.
 
Well, I have to say that I thought the first 2 hours were rather fan-service laden, overwrought melodrama, but then the real end hit and killed a good deal of the time travel elements of the show while shedding some more light on the entire show. Not to mention that beautiful ending montage. I dunno really. I was ready to bury this show and all my goodwill towards it after the past two seasons. But I think I have a different idea for the show in mind now...

IF they would have only released this in theaters for $50 a ticket.. that price would be justified
 
i am so shaken up right now. this fucking show that i have watched and loved for years has fucking ended and it went out on its strongest fucking episode and i cried like 50 fucking times and then 0ghregdfghffgvfdg

just... wow. perfect.

Aside from the confusion, sit back and reflect on how perfect that finale actually was.

For me, it was better than any movie that came out in the last 5 years. Unbelievable.

COMPLETELY makes up for the botching of the MIB/Smokey creation reveal.
