I think Leung/Garcia was better than Leung/Holloway. The Hurley/Miles time travel discussion was one of the funniest scenes in the show, and they were great together in Some Like it Hoth.

Miles benefited every character he interacted with. Shit, he gave Sayid his best scene ever ("OMG") and, indirectly, Locke (breakfast).

He was the real heart of the island.

LOL at people who hate on Buffy (or Whedon generally) yet insist on how great the characters are in Lost.

The relationships and interactions among characters in Buffy are orders of magnitude more well thought-out, executed, complex and interesting than the simplistic stuff that you get in Lost.

Funny, I just started Angel this week. Hear that it gets good after the first season or so.

What a lot of people don't appreciate is how Lost threw ordinary people ( and even disabled ones ) into something far beyond anything they could have imagined.

I think Abrams once said that the best stories are those that involve absolutely normal characters, faced with impossible situations.

Lost-gaf needs to start writing fan fiction, like NOW.

It's one of things King has always been best at, so that's no surprise.

i think thats already happening just look through the thread, there are many theories that could be considered fan fiction.

But that plot was resolved in the finale. Aside from a few non-critical missteps involving Smokey off-island, everything on the show led to Jack defeating pure evil with his fists. I keep reading from people that the show abandoned what made it cool when it seems clear to me that all the cool shit lead directly to the actions in its finale.

The problem is that pure evil in the finale didn't seem particularly threatening or dangerous in the end. Evil became more vulnerable and had to walk his ass down to his boat. THAT guy is the bringer of the Apocalypse that they had been teeing up all season? It was sadly anticlimactic.

And Kate killed Fake Locke, not Jack. Which seemed like an intentional choice.

But he was walking to the boat, etc, during the apocalypse. It was clearly stated, both in the end of S2 or S6, that the end of the island meant the end of the world as we knew it.

Since we're all on the subject of Angel, Jin has a nice recurring role as an evil lawyer in that show.

Also, Sawyer appears in the pilot.

Wasn't Sawyer still doing phone sex ads back then?

Edit: Wait, no, that was Kate. Sawyer had like half a second in a music video.

I didn't realize he was. Thought that was just Kate. Angel is his first credited role on IMDB, though, as "Good Looking Guy" :lol

Josh Holloway will be the lead in a TV series within the next 2 years. Book it.

Absolutely.

I don't think many of them did Pilots this year (beside DDK, who got picked up), but the next Pilot season will be full of Losties, barring Fox, probably Lilly, and O'Quinn and Emerson if something comes from that Hitmen project they want to do (I don't think something'll come of it).

ABC will want to retain as much talent as possible, so Im sure a lot of them will end up on ABC shows. Although they already lost DDK to CBS.

An apocalypse that could be averted by just plugging the cork back in, as if it were an appliance like a toaster oven that you forgot to plug in.

My main issue is that "pure evil" and "the end of the world"...these are things that were stated but never sold. For all the hype around these two things -- which by the way are integral to the importance of the island and the story -- they never transpired in a way that seemed truly threatening. All it looked like was that the island would collapse into the ocean. And hey, we actually have a boat anyway, so don't know what the big worry is.

Almost wish Locke didn't go into the chrch at the end, just stayed outside with Ben.

The sequence should've been :

LOCKE gets out of chair, smiles out Ben

LOCKE then removes a silenced pistol from his sideholder within his windbreaker, brandishes it in front of BEN

LOCKE:
"it's time to get up, Benjamin. We have work to do."

BEN agrees, and thus begins the pilot for LOCKE & KEY

We're 11% of the way there! Once this thread reaches 100k we can all finally let go.

I can't do it alone LOST-GAF. I don't want to do it alone.
That would be amazing:lol :lol :lol Couldn't imagine the crazy shit being posted after 50k...:lol :lol

You must have missed the origin story for the man in black because its very clear he is not pure evil. But arguably the most tragic person on the show

The problem with showing the consequences of allowing the world to end is that the world will end. There really is no way around it: You show the island crumble, nothing happens, then there were no stakes. You show the island crumble, the world ends, well, shit, that's the end and there are no more stakes. They have to conclude the action well before the dam blows or else it's too late.

Nolan should cast Terry O'Quinn as Lex in his superman flick.

I've been hoping that Lex wouldn't be the villain in the next Superman movie because I want to see Superman actually, you know, be Superman... but it would be totally worth it for that.

I would have liked to see this exchange:

Locke: This is where I came from, Ben. These are my people. The Losties. They came here seeking harmony, but they couldn't even coexist with eachother while they were alive. And when it became clear that one side had to go, one side had to be purged, I did what I had to do. I was one of the people that was smart enough to make sure that I didn't end up haunting that island for eternity. Which makes me considerably smarter than you, Ben.

[Ben stands up and turns but Locke shoots him. Ben falls onto the grass]

BEN: Why did you do this?

LOCKE: Payback is a fickle bitch, Ben.

BEN: Help me...

LOCKE: Goodbye, Benjamin.

BEN: You can't do this!

LOCKE: Don't tell me what I can't do.

[Locke leaves Ben lying in the park]

Terry O'Quinn should go to the production offices and burn them to the ground before the Superman film can be made. Best character ever. Best performance ever.

...from wounds inflicted in the fight with Fake Locke. Honestly, the way that they show the cork being plugged back in, there does not appear to be any special test of endurance/strength/what have you for whoever does it, so it did not even in theory have to be Jack.

I guessed I also missed the part in Ab Aeterno where Jacob says that the island protects the world from pure evil. With the strong implication that pure evil is the Smoke Monster. The origin story provides the initial motivations for Man in Black, but it doesn't mean he isn't pure evil once he becomes Smoke Monster (or Smoke Monster becomes him, whichever it is).

And by the way, I actually really enjoyed this show. I just think the finale didn't work.

Some cripples just want to watch the world burn.

well, im disappointed with the whole finale, and i dont buy that crap "characters are important, and not the story" - no sir, its not.

LOST show was a Mindfuck genre. and, as all mindfucks - it HAS TO HAVE a solution. the reasons for hype were the mysteries.
What do you mean by a solution? We learned the basic purpose of the island and why it was special. We learned why our characters were brought there and what they were fighting for. What "solution" did you want?
Igoritza said:
and, in the afterlife - Jack has a son ? with Juliet, for that instance. WHAT'S UP WITH THAT!? who is he ?

so, in purgatory, you have a son, that you feel unmeasured love for, and he is, just so you know - a fu*in' imagination?!?!?
They created the purgatory themselves in order to deal with their lives and deaths. Jack has a son in X-land to help him confront his daddy issues.

He should be a Myers type and play every single role in his next movie.
