Kate remembering she stole Jack's pen at LA X, after she had flashed, seems to confirm my theory that the end combines the dead person's life with the person they developed into in purgatory.

I think it's more of a combination of memories than a combination of people, but I tend to read the Sideways as non-impact as possible to avoid getting into the logistics of it all.

I think they remember it more as a dream. I can remember that last night I dreamed I was a fighter pilot, but when I wake up I don't actually feel like I was one. I think Jack will remember that he had a son, but it'll flood over him that it wasn't real; he'll lose all emotional attachment. He "wakes up".

Is it a problem if I find the logistics of purgatory consciousness converging with original consciousness easier to understand than the Infection they had a whole season to elaborate on?:lol

Anyways, as I said I'm not completely shitting on the show as a whole, I really enjoyed it a lot during the 5 first seasons, but the final one was extremely disappointing to me. I didn't want them to pull a Dark Tower, and in a way they completely did. Guess being a scientist doesn't help me on that issue.

Doesn't Dark Tower end with
everything back at square one?

That cab driver was the guy in the cabin saying "help me". He just wanted a tip :(
Oddly enough, that guy isn't even really real either.

Kind of nice how, in life, Jack helped send Desmond home, and now Des has returned the favor in the afterlife.

WTF, Kate is wearing different clothes in the church than she was in the jeep.

Just watched the ABC enhanced version(3rd time viewing the finale) and once again cried my eyes out but not so much on the rememberance scenes but mostly on the goodbyes on the island. Such a great finale.

Yeah, I mean...after he flashed he didn't really make any mention of his kid.

I didn't realize it before, but in this Sopranos spoof on Aloha to Lost, Nestor Carbonell is playing like, 3 different characters.:lol :lol

Lets be clear even though Locke recognised the place was special, he had no clue what was so special about it. He was clueless really.
Locke didn't know exactly what the Island was but he had faith in it and that faith made him right more than wrong. He was right that pressing the button was important, he was right in trying to stop everyone from leaving the Island by blowing up the sub. He was right when he killed Naomi.

The only time he was wrong was when Smokey tricked him into telling Richard he was supposed to be the leader of the Others and then believing that he had to die to save the Island.

I am going to miss Lost terribly. It should have continued on for another 3 seasons.
didn't you just start watching it? :D

many of us have been watching for 6 years--Lost was part of our everyday life, now it's gone. I was very satisfied by the ending, though, so I can live without it.

Yeah, I watched it all in a span of 6 months. Guess I still want more.

I was just thinking today, for those yesterday saying about the danger MIB posed to the outside world, Charles Widmore pretty much summed up what he'd do. I still believe him, shame he became shot out.

I thought this would be a really weird week without lost, but it ended with such a great feeling of closure that I don't really miss it.

My theory is that the whole sideways thing was the producers playing with the "bargain" part of grief; for 6 years we saw people die on this island for apparent no good reason (and ultimately because two overpowered brothers decided to compete), so they gave us a "what if they are alive, just not in this world? I trade the island for their lives"; but this is just a phase, in the end we have to accept it and move on. The finale was my acceptance. Bargaining is natural, but does not work; people die and that's that... just like series we love reach their finale.

Why didn't Lost give me a detailed diagram for creating my own magical light cave to turn myself into a smoke monster? Fuck Lost, what a shitty show.

Does anyone have a link to a series synopsis? I know there's a wiki one, but it's extremely long. I watched the first two seasons and half of the third, but gave up at that point since S3 wasn't very good. I'd be curious to know the rest of the story in a condensed kind of way, so if someone can send me a link i'd be really grateful.

Every single person here will recommend you get back on the boat. The second half of S3 is superb. From there it's smooth sailing.

You gave up because the first half of S3 wasn't very good. The second half of season 3 is amazing.

So now three people who don't watch lost due to irrational hate (without watching a single episode) have laughed at me for getting suckered for the ending - "that they have been dead for the entire show after the plane crash"

How can spoiler or wiki or whatever site these people are reading from be so wrong?

Another friend who is half way through the series said he didn't want to watch the show anymore because he accidentally found out that everyone died in the plane crash...

How can they talk to you like they're an authority on what happened if they don't watch the show? Tell'em to fuck off.

thats what i tell everybody that tries to tell me the show is stupid, how the fuck would they know?

This isn't even just related to Lost; what kind of asshole tells people what to think about anything they themselves have no idea about?

Lol who gives a shit about them, it's obvious their intellectual integrity is faulty

People should only irrationally hate something like Twilight which misrepresents vampires and romance at the same time.

well if they havent seen it they have no right to hate it, unless they read the books

I kind of wish there was a cheaper version of the complete set that didn't come with the extras. Also wondering how they'll fit that many discs in those slim cases....I guess they're layered in there?

So I got home tonight at 10pm in time to catch Aloha to lost which I missed the first time.

How did they fit the 2.5 hours into 8-10pm?

Did they cut content or cut commercials?

Just finished watching the finale. The ending was incredibly moving, I am unashamed to admit that I shed a tear. Lost, thank you for such an amazing show. You will be sorely missed.

Oh I completely agree that they are all idiots (those who make fun of lost/anything without watching it).. I usually turn it around and make fun of them for being so stupid as to comment on something completely incorrect about something they've never watched

Just finished watching The Beginning of the End (S4 premiere).

You know, I've heard talk of that episode being lackluster, but I just don't see it. Tons of great character shit. Hurley dealing with Charlie's death on the island and in the future is pretty damned moving. Plus tons of awesome Ben lines ("Jack, if I have your permission I'd like to go with John.")

Season 4 is so great. It's all coming back to me now.

the finale of S3 was brilliant

I'm not referring to the ending (if they would have done that, woulda been horrible seriously :P) but the way they have very similar constructions.

The first book is not so much about the world, there's just a couple of weird things here and there. It's mostly about Roland's character, and we're introduced with the man in black. Then shit happens. For several books, you get to know about the world, the way it's fucked up, "magic" and all that stuff. Loads of mysteries, and in a way you expect that when Roland reaches his goal, you'll get at least some answers. Then for the last couple of books it completely ditches everything, focuses mainly on characters especially Roland, and you get no answers. Felt very similar to Lost in this way.

Well there's season-specific pages on wikipedia, with 2-3 lines long synopses of each episode. I'd say that it might be too quickly summarized, but if you just want to get an idea of what's going on it does the job.

Who the he'll cares what the actual reason is behind the islands light and its power? Do we really need every tiny detail spelt out for us?

That's the last thing that needs explaining, there are tons of heavily plotted things in seasons 1&2 that could do with explanation, but the source of the islands power isn't one of them IMO

So where did we land on Jacob's cabin?

- Was anyone trapped inside the cabin because of the ashes? It can't be MiB because he's been been wandering as a black smoke the whole time.

- If Ben was putting on a show for John, then who said "Help me" and who was the guy on a chair that appeared for like a split second?

It was MiB but the ash must have been broken long before hand

Question, when Ilanna goes to the cabin, expecting to find Jacob there, wasn't the map pinned to the wall with MIB's dagger? Can't remember exactly and I wouldn't know which episode to look for.

Its starting to repeat itself

Starting? It has been repeating for days now. Its like people are bumping it just for the sake of bumping it so that it doesnt go to page 2 and beyond. Which is incredibly silly.
