Lost Ark is doing crazy numbers.

Games that are in beta or unreleased/unpublished state on Steam don't have their stats tracked, for obvious reasons.
But it turns out if you have access it is possible and SteamDB was gifted a founders edition copy. The results blew me away, with 506k concurrent players right now as I write this, it goes live this Friday for everyone.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but this game is free and those people are just the people who paid for the bonus shit which grants early access right?

Is this going to be another "New World" scenario?

I remember so much hype and demand for that game. "Overwhelmingly positive" reviews from early access. Ridiculously huge number of gamers getting in on day 1. Then everybody realized the game wasn't that great and they stopped playing it.

"It's too hard to get into GAAS. Everyone is already playing "their one game". The GAAS bubble is ready to burst."

Also: Ignore all data that conflicts with the above statement.

Happy for the gamers who like these types of games. Apparently there's a lot!

I would try it.
Question: I think already know the answer but... are names unique? Can I use any name I want like in Diablo 3 and PoE or will I be forced to use patatino.porcoddio.chimiharubatoilnome69 because I created the characters too late?

It just shows how out of touch most AAA publishers are. This is what happens when you give PC gamers what they want, records break and developers swim in cash.

Insane numbers on Twitch as well. I hope some console gamers finally realize how big PC gaming is.

Seems like the kind of game that has everything to succeed in Steam.

I'm not a young boy with countless hours to waste anymore nor an MMO person so I'm not into it, but the game looks interesting as an ARPG and for those people that are willing to sunk their teeth and long hours into it seems just perfect.

The main problem is them being able to sustain this amount of players. Knowing all this MMOs we had over years...People eventually stick to the same games.

Game is great and is a known entity so the success was almost assured, though many tried to downplay it due to being Korean, an MMO and Isometric

I just hope AGS improves how they've been handling the communication and increases server capacity overall since there's already queues everywhere

Lost Ark has been in the top 10 most played games in pc bangs in Korea for years

Also has an esport scene

I'm glad Korean games are doing well. Would be nice if they just branched out from MMOs even a tiny bit though.

The future is bright. Look at some of their character art for this game.

Lost Ark is barely a D2 clone. It's more of an MMO.
Yeah, I suppose it is a bit different. I was mainly referring to, uh what's that game? Path of Exile. Really did not like it at all. Something just felt "Off" about it.

Can't stand Korean MMOs. All of their games are P2W cesspools. I was kinda hoping they'd fuck off from the MMO genre. But they did not.

A lot of the big streamers champion the game, that alone draws players in the hundreds of thousands to at least try the game.

What there's console gamers who seriously thinks that pc gaming is niche?

That is pretty impressive, considering it'll be free in 3 days. I had been looking forward to this one, but it all seems a bit more involved than my casual self was looking to play. I may still give it a go and see if playing through the campaign is any fun.

Yea, a lot of online chatter on this. Had no idea what this is, but based on the screenshots... it looks exactly the type of game the PC crowd is really into.

Yep, I literally stated in that thread that it would have a massive drop off after the first 4 weeks and unless they routinely release content, they aren't going to keep players engaged. Was screamed at a few times and told off, but guess what? I was right.

I think Lost Ark will have a better go at it than New World as it has a large amount of content already waiting to be pushed onto servers. So they can drip feed new content at a steady pace. Personally I just don't like the camera system and top down style for an MMORPG so I will be skipping it. Hope people who are interested in it though enjoy the hell out of it. Always good to get new ideas and concepts in the MMO space.

Until very recently, after watching Twitch streams, I didn't realize the game was top down Korean MMO with typical grind, rather than hack 'n slash Diablo style. It makes the fact that the game is not being released in my country due to 'gambling laws' not so painful. PvP still looks interesting to me, but I can't see myself enjoying the PvE enough.

Anyone here actually playing it? Is it worth the price of admission at the moment?
Just an hour or so last night. Not a fan of the art style but it's pretty fun so far.
I watched a few videos on it and what made me give it a try is F2P not P2W. All priced things are cosmetic or convenience things that are easy enough to get in game.

Was really looking forward to this one, as the aesthetic is 100% my thing, but because of gambling laws it isn't available in The Netherlands and Belgium.

Fuck Amazon. One of the biggest companies in the world but they can't figure this shit out.
