Lost Ark is doing crazy numbers.

I played the open beta sometime back. Liked what I played so I stopped to avoid investing too much time into a reset. Waiting for real launch.

meh, we'll see how long it last.
I don't think Lost Ark is the fad some people think it is lol. It's been running successfully for 2 years in Asia.

Despite the Amazon branding, this isn't another New World. New World is literally an incomplete game that they shit out because they had no clue what direction they wanted to take the game for over 2 years in alpha. Look at what happened when they tried to release Valentine skins this week:

At the very least, Lost Ark definitely won't have a 90% playerbase dip in one month like New World did lmao

im surprise actually because most korean MMO were grind fest.

To be fair, they *did* censor the starting armor. Thankfully you can still get it later on via drops. Assuming what I remember watching on Asmongold still rings true.

I would eat this up if it had the art style and setting of Diablo. Guess Diablo 4 will be gunning for something like what Lost Ark offers.

I honestly have no idea what was up with that, the cover art is censored too the costumes ingame are more revealing but they covered up cleavage.
Something else kinda bizarre I noticed is that almost every single woman in the marketing pics they've used have been black lol, it's very intentional and weird ( the male characters are basically all white too ).
It's very strange when you notice it even in pics with larger groups of characters it's the same.
Very on the nose and weird, I get if they wanted to show that '' look there's black people now '' but holy shit they went overboard.

In regards to the starting armor I don't exactly understand what the point of it was, even in the trial area where you pick your class you immediately get to try out skimpy gear regardless.
The new starting armor I have a bit of a less problem since it get replaced basically immediately, however I do hate that they made a permanent change in how your character looks with no armor on.
Again it's very obnoxious and on the nose, literally every single female character got covered up from neck down and some of them don't even make thematic sense.
The female Martial Artist looks like a knight in armor instead of a Martial Artist.
And the Gunslinger is probably the strangest case because her actual starting armor uses the same model as the '' naked '' Gunslinger on KR/ RU.
But then when you remove her armor she wears a fully covering black suit that looks like a skin from the cash shop...

So even if their intent was '' hide skin at the start of the gear '', the Gunslinger does the exact opposite and still got the permanent change.
And you still replace the gear right away and you're still being shown loads of skin in the testing area ( the Shadowhunter is literally not even wearing pants she's just in underwear ).

But yeah the thing that probably annoys me the most about it is how completely nonsensical it is and how it doesn't even achieve what I have to imagine they tried to do and isn't consistent at all.
I really want to understand why it was changed, the fact that it was changed at all is concerning to me because I don't think it's even a conversation that should be happening at the office altogether.

As a last side note, the white drops felt like an act of desperation to me. It doesn't change anything because there's no transmog in the game.
So those white drops are literally useless, it's worse than your starting armor.
So in actual effect they did lie to people, because they essentially did erase that armor from the game.

It just shows how out of touch most AAA publishers are. This is what happens when you give PC gamers what they want, records break and developers swim in cash.

Insane numbers on Twitch as well. I hope some console gamers finally realize how big PC gaming is.

Remember that Amazon owns Twitch I imagine they paid off A LOT of Streamers to play the game ( and loads of incentive like Twitch drops ).
Asmongold alone had like 300k viewers because he was returning to his main Stream again.
I think he'd have that regardless of what he played tbh.

It just shows how other countries view the current goings-on in the western world. They change things to appeal to what they *think* we find important, only to find out that it really isn't. Our MSM/Social Media has royally fucked the greater world's view of us.

As an aside, you are correct with New WOrld. Amazon paid off a TON of streamers and gave them massive incentives to play the game.

One possibility that did occur to me is that they changed it because they removed the prologue and will change it in Korea too, I remember one of the CM's from AGS saying that some stuff might be changed in our version which will be implemented in theirs but haven't yet.
Altho I honestly doubt it considering the statements we got from them but they never actually clarified any of this they never explained why or who made the decision.

AGS has been extremely shitty with communication.
The most baffling case of this is with the delay of the game.
The game was delayed because Smilegate wanted to add T3 to our release, but AGS never communicated this with us so what ended up happening is that people got mad at AGS and started speculating that the pointless changes were leading to delays too.
The game director said in the livestream pre-launch that he was really surprised and bewildered that they hadn't informed us and didn't understand why they didn't lol, so AGS's incompetency lead to people blaming them for something they didn't do and the game director who was '' at fault '' being confused.

The first thing that happened with the launch yesterday too was that they screwed up the patch notes............
They just copy pasted the patch notes from Korea and there was a bunch of stuff in there that wasn't even in our release... I really don't understand how they can screw up everything they touch even such simple things.

Purchased the Bronze Pack out of sheer boredom last night and just wanted to give some general impressions, from the perspective of a filthy casual.

I played for a couple of hours. It's pretty enjoyable thus far. I've seen folks say it looks outdated, but I don't see it. Some of the NPC's look a bit rough, but I think the environments and animations are on point - especially considering it's technically a free game.

My enjoyment of this one is predicated on how well a controller works, and that experience is definitely helped by having an Elite controller with paddles. Gameplay-wise, the controller works really well at least for a melee character, but if you're a masochist like me and want to use a controller to navigate menus that were designed for KB&M, having LS and RS clicks on the back paddles is the way to go, or some variation of that. Moving the mouse cursor with a controller is as slow as the day is long, but I've played games where the opposite is true and I'd rather it err on the slow side of things. The best bet would be to have a mouse/keyboard on hand for inventory management and such.

The story has already lost me from lack of interest, but perhaps that will change. It's clear the draw will be to kill lots of things, and that part is really satisfying. There's no conceivable way I put in enough hours to create a viable end-game build, so I'm not really the game's intended audience, but I'll problem just ride this one out until it stops being fun.

It's F2P. Once people hit the grind wall where they have to pay, 95% of the population will die. Just like any "MMO" like this.
Word fuck
And i say fuck
Free to play shit

If this game was 50 bucks i would have been all over it. Now it just feels nasty as hell

I got a founder pack. Wish I could refund it. The class selection is really really limited, and the classes are genderlocked. The game is heavily aimed at the "wow, booba!" type of player, so there's a lot of skimpy outfits for female characters, but male characters are really limited, and usually have the worse version of the jobs that the female characters have.

Want to play a male magic user? Too bad, there isn't one yet. Want to be a male assassin? There isn't one. etc. Its a Korean thing for some reason, but its always such a huge turnoff. There's a lot of content, classes, etc. that have been released over the course of the last three years on the Korean client, but they plan on drip feeding things out to milk cash shop engagement for as long as possible.

I can see it being popular, but I think once the P2W aspect becomes more evident, its popularity is going to fade a bit.

Seen this posted here, but Lost Ark is nothing like Diablo or Path of Exile. I've seen this in articles as well and wonder if people have even played these games.

This is all MMO. Loot is very incremental and leveling is slow to 50. It's fun though. It's just very different.

The diablo starvation is real!! Blizzard dropped the ball again.

This post is on point.

I'm playing this myself after waiting for so many years and find the whole thing underwhelming,, combat feels somewhat good but for me it should have been released years ago...

It is also a shame they butchered the prologue, making you start at lvl10 and not having different settings for different classes. (Feedback said lvl1-10 was boring but at least make it optional) Really feels disjointed and makes me lose interests in any world building or semblance of lore the game has.

Looks really boring and kid friendly. Like Fortnite in a Diablo style. Way too much shizzle going on at the screen for people with shot attention span and rewards around any corner. Looks as fun as a "Warriors" game to be honest. The combat looks so bland and just chaotic.

I mean, you have played a a diablo style game before right? Wait don't tell me you Diablo III was super hard from the start and required constant use of dodges and counter moves from level 1? It's almost like games start easy and the get hard...

Fortnite Diablo for kids indeed.

You know... 17+ for kids. Not that anyone can play kid or not prime time due to the queue.

People are gonna be sad when they realize it plays nothing like Diablo, and that it's a generic KMMO where the endgame is an endless grind for 0.1% more stats for nonexistent PvE content and also unbalanced pointless open world PvP.

The only reason to play any Korean game is huge anime tiddies and that's been heavily censored by Amazon for Western release. So there are no reasons left to play this. If you want the unfiltered KMMO experience, the current best option out there is probably Blade&Soul.

The game is basically another Lineage. Once Amazon's giant checks to streamers end and people realize it's a Pay 2 Win cash shop grind, it'll drop fast.

Was really looking forward to this one, as the aesthetic is 100% my thing, but because of gambling laws it isn't available in The Netherlands and Belgium.

Fuck Amazon. One of the biggest companies in the world but they can't figure this shit out.

I've been reading, actual experiences from Dutch gamers, that you should be good playing the game using a code for a founder's pack bought from resellers like G2A.

Something to be aware of though; the EU servers seem like a clusterfuck in terms of population and language. Different servers have been 'claimed' by certain nationalities, because AGS failed to implement something simple as language tags to servers. And even though there aren't language tags, AGS actually supports servers being claimed by nationalities: https://forums.playlostark.com/t/regarding-language-preferred-servers/39283
The 3 top English servers are now the most crowded with huge queues and character creation locks. What makes it worse is that once you choose a certain server for your founder's pack it is locked to that server. There are quite a few players complaining now that they picked the wrong server and regret their decision because everyone speaks a language they don't understand.
I can imagine once the floodgates open tomorrow, more people will rush creating a char on server with their preferred language.
If I were to play the game I'd wait a week, after things have settled a bit, do some research and then decide for a server with predominantly English speakers with no or low queue time.

Scrolling through this thread will give you an idea of the issue: https://forums.playlostark.com/t/eu-language-servers/35333

You see the problem now?

Neria - Polish and Italian
Kadan - English, but locked for character creation and HUGE queue time
Trixion - French
Calvasus - French
Thirain - English, but locked for character creation and HUGE queue time
Zinnervale - English, but locked for character creation and HUGE queue time
Asta - German
Wei - Spanish
Sien - mostly German

Tell me where can a player that wants to speak english can play?

I have literally just bought this because it is the only realistic way to get a slot after work when I finish at 5PM. Go into some dark corner on some random channel and set up the mouse clicker and boom.

I know MMO's launches suck, but thats how it is.

Great numbers. Not crazy. F2P and/or GaaS games are super popular on PC and the top ones aren't on Steam.

These numbers are only for people who have paid... Friday is the F2P launch.

Or do you mean Fortnite numbers massively eclipse this in general?

Literally every single one of your hot takes is completely wrong.

Fornite and League of Legends get millions concurrent, several millions different per days tens of millions different players a month.

So just saying as of right now it's nothing too crazy. Definitely great, beyond good.

Even if it's not F2P yet, it's really cheap to access. In their mind it's Probbaly like buying a battle pass.

Thing is... I had a isometric rpg itch (cannot go back to replaying D3) to scratch so I'm playing it and going through area after area with my zerker but Black Desert is better than this in about every way.

Gender-specific classes would cause a shitstorm coming from a Western dev. It's an interesting design choice.

Up all night playing this. It really grows on you.
Not a fan of the character design and the UI could be a bit better with a controller but it sure is fun. Game does a great job of keeping quests short and rolling off one another always making you want to do just one more before turning it off.

The game started tracking officially on the Steam Stats page a couple of hours ago. No doubt rolling out in territories like Aussie-land.
I'll give it a try a few days later, skip the inevitable queue chaos.

As long as you are not laser focussed on joining an existing server Amazon have realised how much they underestimated demand and have pretty much doubled servers for EU and East Coast, West got a few new server too, so you might be able to play if your lucky.

Asia and Europe are different ball games.

Asian players loves to do mindless grinding, western players don't.

Path of Exile did it. Some people complained, but most don't care.

EDIT: Since I play the game since day one, I know why it has gender locked classes. Back then, they had literally one (yes, one) guy who was doing all the animation rigging. They simply couldn't afford to make two genders for each class. Good times.

POE and D2:R exist (I'm sure there are other examples).

Honestly any "Hero shooter" is essentially gender locked classes, what's the diffrence between Lost Arks 15 (21 in Korean) classes and the roster of Overwatch? Apart from the genre shift nothing, they are just anouther way to say "class". In alot of ways the classes of TF2 display this point perfectly because you can't argue that the hero shooters craft a specific personality for their characters and thats why they differ, when the TF2 classes ooze more character than a majority of these copycats.

Gender Locked races in MMO's are still a thing FFXIV still has one.

I was going to put games like BORDERLANDS on there, but thought that might be too specific, but it really isn't as you point out: if I want to be a wild elemental caster, I can't play as a male Siren. Or, if I want to be a pet based character I can't play as. . .whatever the hell FL4K is (a robot I think).

. . .the setup in LA I feel like is just like BL and POE: these are characters with specific backstories and not just generic adventurers (even though you clearly aren't the only one out there).

Do you guys think i will be able to buy a founder pack once this releases? Want to see 1st how well this will play on my hardware.
