Actually, sometimes I found it easier to find vintage American comic paraphernalia than Japanese anime products.

One of the main reasons I think I'll have a hard time ever leaving Japan is because the food is SO SO SO SO SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO SO SO SO SO SO SO SO SO (should I continue?) SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO SOSOSOSOSOSSOSOSOSOSOSSSSOOOO much better here than in the States.

EDIT: Oh yeah, and our internet is like 5000 times faster than yours. :)

fixed :)

A couple of years ago I visited my brother who was studying in Japan. We travelled from Tokyo to Kyoto/Nagoya/Osaka/Hiroshima/Fukuoka to Sasebo, where he lived nearby. From there, whe also went to see Nagasaki, which wasn't to exciting because we wanted to check out Deshima but almost nothing of it was left. Alltogether it was an awesome trip, with a lot of highlights (maybe some spelling errors: The Shitennoji Temple, Umeda Sky Building, Panasonic Square :D, Namba, Himeji Castle, the Gion Festival in Kyoto, Kinkakuji, Ryo-anji, Nijo Castle, Toji Temple, The Peace Memorial park, Hiroshima Castle, Miyajima, Kofukiji Temple etc. I even spent a night in a capsule hotel, that was beyond weird :). I'd love to go back some day, especially for Kyoto.

Shibuya is okay past midnight, Ueno/Shinjuku gets a little weird beyond 12 though.... *shifty eyes*

Everyone keeps talking about a raid down to Osaka, so we will give you a shout if we end up down that way! ;)

Nijo Castle rocked. I managed to just walk into and get a room in the hotel directly across the street from it (which was good, cause I had nowhere in Kyoto to stay that night).

Gion Matsuri was also very cool (which I again happened to be at completely by accident...my trip to Kyoto was the best unplanned 3 days ever :)).

Also very, very cool in Kyoto is Fushimi Inari shrine, with its 10,000 torii gates snaking through the woods; Kiyomizu Temple; and cormorant fishing on the river in Arashiyama. Oh, and the Heian Shrine gardens were really cool too.

I highly recommend Kyoto to anyone going to Japan. I would recommend it higher than Tokyo even.

I really wanted to go to Osaka while I was there, and there are plenty of other places across the country I wanted to go to, but I just ran out of time.

Oh, and climb Mt. Fuji. The view rocks.

I agree. Altough Tokyo was quite an experience, I'd recommend Kyoto over Tokyo any time. The Gion neigbourhood was also quite special. We had dinner in a tiny place with maybe 20 seats with probably had been there for ages and ages, and the lady working there remembered my brother, who had one dinner there before, a year before. He's as blond as they come, but still it was cool she remembered him dropping by and thought it was awesome he/we came again :).

Regarding elder people not liking Western people: I don't know, I didn't really notice it. We had some cool contacts with some seniors, helping us out with directions etcetera. Maybe it's because were European, not American, but then again, they can't see that from the outside immediately - well unless you're covered in American flags, something some of your countrymen seem to do ;).

Heh I was at Gion Matsuri this year..pretty crowded ehh. Do you remember where you were? I was in the area of Sanjo/Shijo, probably passed by you :p

Osaka by Keihan train is only 40 minutes away...you could have pulled it off, at least if I was with you...I could have recommended some places to go having if you were short on time..hell if you gave me an extra day I coulda worked Nara in there too..for my money an even nicer area than Kyoto :)

I'm sure there's a small subset of them that love to play FPS games and watch subbed episodes of Justice League and Aqua Teen Hunger Force.

Or not. I have no idea.

:D

Toonami in Japan is all american animation, and it's supposed to pretty big there, so I think that may be true :).

Americanophiles :O!
