Lost my wallet! It's like getting raped with a hockey stick.

Time ta STEP IT UP
This is just terrible. I lost my wallet last night when I was with my friends. It was the 4th of July, so we smoked our best American grown reefer and carried on our way. I was in the yard with my friends, doing what we do best, when I went to my car to get "something." My friend's dog jumped in the car with me, and hilarity/confusion ensued. Took us a while to get him out, but we finally did. He was a heavy mother fucker.

Fast forward a few minutes, and we're about ready to go see the fireworks at the beach in celebration of the holiday. The second I got in my friends car, I realized "Wait a minute, I don't have my wallet." But I didn't have any money in it anyway, and I didn't need my liscense since I wouldn't be driving anywhere, so I decided to just let it slide. Then I realized another thing "This car... it's a rental car." Apparently, my friend was getting his Audi A6 repaired and he had the rental for a few days.

After the fireworks we all went home. I forgot all about my wallet until I was half way to my house. I stopped my car to see if I could find it, but I couldn't. Shit, it was 2 AM and my friend was sleeping, so I wasn't about to go back to his place and look for it. Decided I'd do it the next day.

Well today I went to his house and I couldn't find it. I checked his front yard and it wasn't there, and that was the last time I had seen it. It very well COULD be in the rental car, though I doubt it. Still, my friend's dad returned the rental car this morning, so there's no way I can check the car.

I'll have to get the number of the rental car place I guess, but what really pisses me off is that I have my Social Security Card in there. Fuck, of all the times I lose my wallet, it's when I'm applying for several summer jobs (Which is why I stupidly left my SS card in there).

So now, my wallet is nowhere to be found. My liscense, my SS card, 2 gift cards, and a library card are gone. I really don't want to go down to the DMV, and I really don't know how to get a new SS card issued to me, but now I'm freaking out because I don't want anyone stealing my identity or something.

Fuck, I was really hoping I would only have to go to the DMV only once in my life.

And this is why I think we need some sort of unified card that contains all the infos. Kinda like a passport with everything tied in. You lose it, you make a call, and everything is locked at the same time. credit card, bank, etc.

Then the morning after you get a new card with new numbers generated and everything is just fine

That SS card and license are going to be a bitch to get, not so much what you have to bring to get them but the wait is going to be awful.

erk. better get on the phone cancelling all your cards. iirc the SS card is a bitch and a half to get. afaik losing your ss card isn't all that bad, as it's painfully easy to get social security numbers without it. your DL is a bit more dangerous, but them's the ropes :/

That's the good side...the bad side? You miss a payment on something, *instant deduction from your payroll, bye bye food money. You boss knows you're not responsible enough to keep track of your monies, that means you're not cut out for the job, no job, no money out on the street you filth!

Plus, imagine your stalker friend getting hold of that. =P

And it's even easier to get DL #'s.

I've never lost my wallet but it's one of my biggest and most constant fears. Every now and then I'll think "HOLY SHIT WHERES MY WALLET" only to reach around back and feel it in my back pocket.

ya really? i did not know this.

It's kind of obvious. Do you know how many DL #'s I see in a day, and have to document as part of a retail job? They are not at all secure which is why financial institutions require a SS# for most transactions. DL #'s are thrown around all the time. Wen you trade information an during an accident you have to give the other person your DL # to report it to the DMV. I don't know how to get specific #'s, but they are not generally hard to obtain. They are, however, pretty useless by themselves. I lost an old license and was told not to worry because there wasn't much that could be done with it. When I lost it it was still good for about another month.

So anyone have an answer to my super important question? :lol

Yeah, I was wondering what the overall consensus was on that issue. I've had American weed before, and it was nothing special. Not too strong, but not too weak either. I bought it off some guy on the street on my last trip to Chicago. :lol This is kinda how I like it actually. Some of the pot here in Canada is fucking ridiculous. I used to smoke every day or every other day, and I would sometimes get *really* high off some of the hydro they grow in my area. Some of my friends couldn't even handle it, they'd get panic attacks and run outside fearing death. It was cool.

Badabing: Don't procrastinate on getting another Social Security card. I lost mine a while ago, and all I had to do was notify the HDRC office (Canada). It took a while, and they needed my birth certificate along with some certainty that it was me. I'm sure the U.S. has a similar office; there, a quick web search let me find this website: Social Security Online

Best of luck dude, and cut down on the reefer :p I've lost many things while high, like my $200 pair of sunglasses.

Buying pants with deep front pockets is the best lifestyle idea I've ever had. Makes the wallet nigh-untouchable and hard to lose.

Keeping your SS card in your wallet is absolutely the worst idea in the world. There are so many ways you could be fucked so quickly..

hmm, that sounds reasonable enough. i've heard the opposite, but i have no first hand experience in identity theft, so i dunno.

i think it's just ease of matching a name to the given #. ie, it's harder to find a database to query name to DL# than name to SS#, i THINK (this is what i was told). as far as what you can do with the #s, it definitely sounds reasonable that the SS is more dangerous, but I do wonder...
