I wish I had never watched the episode with Jacob and MiB as kids. I think then the last season really would have been perfect. There's no need to pull back the curtain if the only thing you have to show is a turd.

I still miss the show. I spent X number of years watching this show every week with my younger sister, from pilot to finale, only missing a few episodes. Definitely an experience.

Hey guys, I remember an active neogaf lostie wanted to know if anybody could find footage of the time talks live event a few days before the finale aired.

Well heres the first part:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PPFL6JspGZw&feature=related

Its not great quality, but it gets the job done.

Part 2 etc is on there too.

:lol

Holy shit that's bad quality.

But thanks!

That was me looking for it.

It sucks, there was a 1080p direct feed up on YouTube for a few days after before getting pulled down. I regret so badly that I didn't rip them off of YouTube. And I'm stunned that I can't find it anywhere...

yeah I watched it too, it was great.

How long was it do you remember?

The person who posted this has about 25 minutes of the talk

It was around 90 minutes.

It was well worth the 20+ dollars I spent on it.

I emailed Times about it and asked if they'd ever sell it on DVD, they said no because of rights issues :(

Sucks.

I'd love to have it.

Re-watching the series up to the last season. I realized the one thing I hated about this season was Sun and Jin. How the fuck did the writers think it was a good idea to kill them both off when they have a kid.

I'm about 5 episodes into season 6 right now. Still not reading anything about the show until I finish (which includes the posts in this thread), but I needed to vent something about this last season that was really getting to me.

I like Not John. And I will be absolutely furious if this show ends with Jack sacrificing himself to stop Not John. My opinion of Jack as a character has actually gotten worse (as surprising as that is) compared to what it used to be and unfortunately this show is completely hinting at a self-sacrifice ending with Jack being the hero. I don't think I can stomach one of my most least favorite characters on television (and definitely my least favorite on the show) being given such a send off.

My opinion on Jack completely turned around in Season 6. I was quite indifferent about him through most of the show, but in Season 6 I just absolutely saw myself in him, it was pretty surreal actually.

For me, Jack went from varying degrees of annoying to boss mode after his sit down with Richard and the stick of dynamite. Man of Faith Jack ended up being one of my favorite characters.

Daniel, Boone, Miles, Frank, Desmond, Eko, Jack, Sawyer, Locke, Ben, Sayid, Sun, Jin, Hurley,Charlie, Richard, Bernard, Rose, and Vincent are all important characters to me with amazing moments.

Yup, this pretty much covers it.

Too bad how he forgot about the dynamite trick in that sub, huh?

Um no, Jack made his case that the bomb wouldnt blow up, but Sawyer pulled the plug anyway.

Jack and Locke are the greatest characters in the show easily.

I love angry Jack

"What you do to him you son of a bitch!"

"Why are you running, you dont even know what you're running from!"

"Why do you find it so easy!"

"Tell them the truth Michael, TELL THEM!"

"WERE NOWHERE NEAR THE BEACH! WHAT?!"

"Because when they show up here tomorrow night... were gonna blow em all to hell!"

"Im getting them all off the island, all of them!"

"Do you know what he did!?"

"TELL ME!"

"WHAT DOES HE WANT FROM ME!"

You don't get it.
Remember the point that Jack made back in the Black Rock? When he was in "boss mode", according to Blader5489? If Jack could play with dynamite without exploding, why didn't he simply dismantle the bomb right there and then? Exact same principle.

Sayid had doubts if it will work or not, and Jack was convinced nothing was going happen.

It's right in the episode, man.

It was irrelevant if he could disarm it or not, he was convinced he didn't need to.

But the conclusion Jack came to after the dynamite scene was "Those touched by Jacob can't kill themselves."

You'd figure Jack would've been the first one to start pulling random wires on the sub bomb. It'd be just like "lighting the fuse" himself, wouldn't it?

Not everyone on that sub was still a candidate though.

And incidentally, all of the non-candidates (except Frank) ended up dying.

Does it matter? It's not like the dynamite exploded but left Jack with non-lethal injuries...

And incidentally, all of the non-candidates (except Frank) ended up dying.
Three people died, and only one of them wasn't a candidate (I won't tell who because I don't know! the show never said! I guess it didn't matter).
And like you said: "except Frank". And Kate.

If there was a new term for 'jumping the shark' created from LOST, would it be:

A.) Turning the wheel
B.) Exploding the sub
C.) Uncorking the light
D.) Nuking the electromagnetism

But why would any of that matter? If candidates supposedly can't kill themselves directly, trying to disarm the bomb themselves shouldn't have made it go off (like the dynamite).

Alternatively, If Sawyer had held the bomb in his arms after trying to disarm it, do you think it still would have exploded? Or would it still explode killing every other non-candidate in the sub, leaving Sawyer fully intact (lol, trying to imagine that scenario is a little much)

A more distinct variation of A.)
"Moving the Island"

There are lots of scenarios that are better left untouched, with those dumb rules...
Like, Richard needs Jack's help because... he can't throw himself down a cliff, for example? What would happen?

Speaking of which, I love how contrived (for a change!) the whole situation is, by the way... Not just Jack suddenly being all: "I'm 100% sure this dynamite won't kill me because Jacob has been watching me ever since I was a kid! and that makes perfect sense, shut up!", but also Richard's death wish in the first place...

Wasn't he busy trying to warn people that the Man in Black was recruiting (for some reason that was never quite explained, but that sure helped pad the final season) and Evil? Now, he's just fed up with this world because Jacob is dead (*). We'd later find out that he didn't want to die because he was afraid of hell, but I guess the writers didn't know that yet at the time (hey, that was, like, two whole episodes later!).
Nah, I'm just being mean, here: maybe he just stopped believing in hell at some point in the last century, after all. And in the meantime, he was just "hey, but immortality is a cool thing to have, too!"
RICHARD: You wanna know a secret, Jack? Something I've known a long, long time. You're dead.
HURLEY: You mean that figuratively right?
RICHARD: No, I mean literally. We are all dead, every single one of us. And this, this, all this, it's not what you think it is. We're not on an island, we never were. We're in Hell.
Oh. Well.

And then, the dynamite doesn't explode.
"Damn, Jack. So you can't kill yourself either? Well, you've made your point, clearly. And that obviously changes everything. Where to, now?"
He doesn't want to die anymore! Mission accomplished! Well done, Jack! You're the boss! Somehow!

... Of course, two episodes later, Richard will piss on everyone's parade again by arguing they're actually all dead and in hell already, but maybe there were lots of mosquitoes on the road? That can ruin your trek and put you in a bad disposition.

And then, he wants to join the Man in Black after all. Because. Probably the same mosquitoes.
(CUSE: Steven from Atlanta asks: "Love the show! Were the mosquitoes that attacked Richard actually another manifestation of the Smoke Monster? Best show ever, you're great, etc!"
LINDELOF: I won't confirm nor deny at this point, but... intriguing theory, isn't it, Carlton?
CUSE: It sure is, Damon.
LINDELOF: And it certainly would make a lot of sense.)

And then, he's dead set on destroying the plane wreckage because the Man in Black is SO GODDAMN EVIL YOU GUYS I CAN'T EVEN EXPLAIN (so I won't).

Who cares if none of it makes any kind of sense? It's all in the name of drama. And all experts agree: drama that makes sense is harder to write.

(*)
Note the "subtle" subtext, by the way:
JACK: Why do you want to die?
RICHARD: I devoted my life, longer than you can possibly imagine, in service of a man who told me that everything was happening for a reason, that he had a plan, plan that I was a part of, when the time was right that he'd share it with me, and now that man's gone so...why do I want to die? Because I just found out my entire life had no purpose.
*WINK WINK NUDGE NUDGE*
Are we being clear enough with our meta, viewer? Do you find this resonant?
And don't you feel so relieved when Saint Jack the Savior "proves" Richard wrong about there being no plan when the dynamite -OMGWTF!- doesn't explode? (never mind how we'll forget about that as soon as the episode ends)
Subtle! Like Mother's lesson about "unanswerable" questions!

Anyway: please be good. We need some decent SF, after this train wreck.

I don't know much about Minecraft, but I sure as hell got a kick out of this video.

It's a huge map with an easter egg around every corner, must've taken forever to build. I bet the people playing it missed a bunch of other stuff along the way, too.

Locke and his fucking dynamite. So perfect :lol

It might have something to do with the fact the show would sadly make more sense if it was "all a dream"...

Lost is so awesome. It's glory does not end.

It's awesome how you can take a cool video and make a complaint about Lost with it.

Had the Blu-Ray box set since November ($125 Amazon black Friday deal woot woot) but just cracked it open for the first time, this week. The wife and I are going to embark on an epic re-watch, this summer.

I'm doubly excited because I was only a casual LOST viewer, over the years. I watched season 1 and 2 religiously, but then with 3, the show lost me. I've probably seen ~10 episodes from season 3-5. Unfortunately I picked it back up for S6 and saw all of it, so I know where the show is heading.

So for me, much of this will be a first-time watch (but within the context of knowing all of S1 and S6).

It's pretty crazy that if we watch an average of one episode a night, it will take FOUR MONTHS to get through it all.

Anyway, I have a loose plan to type up some informal notes/blog posts about my thoughts on each episode, on my personal blog, if anyone cares: http://www.imjustindavis.com/category/lost/

I like watching the random re-airs on some weird channel late at night. Guilty pleasure.
Waiting for the Blu-ray set to get super cheap then I'll bite.

Looks good so far Justin...
You should index these per episode and season so people can click on a certain one if they wanted instead of having to go through until they find the particular one they wanted...

I watched Lost earlier this year for the very first time, all of seasons 1 through 6.

I would have stopped at 3 had I known how things would turn out.

You mean by having the greatest final season/episode in TV history?

I stick my head in here every couple of months just to see what people are discussing, and it brings me great joy to see Erigu still going strong A YEAR AFTER THE SHOW ENDED.

That, my compadres, is tag-worthy behavior at its finest.
