Im a pretty well known member of lostpedia. Its the only lost site thats still alive and kicking.

By the way the guy who made that Jack and Locke thread is a known season 6 hater, who posts nothing but his hate for it.

That's another thing about lostpedia, the people over there seem to have thicker skin than the constant crybabies here on GAF. More variety in perspectives is good.

I love Lost but I always like reading what Erigu has to say. He's pretty much right on almost everything when it comes to the writing of the show and the lack of foresight/planning. I disagree with him on some stuff but not enough to get heated about it.

Anyway I've seen lots of well written shows The Wire, Breaking Bad, Mad Men etc. I love all of them but Lost is still my favorite (I wouldn't call it the best though). As a sci-fi junkie this show was like a dream come true. I still can't believe it managed to last so long with the amount of head spinning shit in it. I really hope we get another like it some day (Fringe is nowhere near as good, I watch it though).

I've watched all the TZ episodes and I love the series but I meant within a modern context. You don't really get shows like that where you have a big budget, shooting on location etc. to do tons of weird shit like they would on Lost. It's too risky but Lost managed to keep a big audience, I just hope that something as ambitious comes along and does the same kind of thing in terms of mysteries, sci-fi, cliffhangers etc. Speaking of TZ it would've been cool to see what Rod Serling would've done with Lost's ideas and setting.

They're attached to the characters and Lost has a lot of moments like in the vid where you're rooting so hard for them and the show ends up making everyone smile or gasp in the most dramatic way possible. That plane and taking off means so much to not only the characters but everyone who's watched the show for so long. It all leads to that dramatic moment and people care less about writing inconsistencies when stuff like that gives them goosebumps.

There have been a bunch of copycats already, but I think viewers couldn't find the patience (or trust) for more shows like that... So those copycats couldn't quite dilute their BS to the same extent Lost did, and... well, it didn't take 6 seasons for people to realize what was going on.
Lost might just have disappointed enough people that even good "SF / mystery shows" are doomed to fail for the next few years. I hope Rushdie's Next People, for example, will prove to be good and successful, but...

Honestly, it's fine to not put Breaking Bad in the top tier with The Wire. The real joke is putting Lost anywhere near The Wire. The Wire is the best hour long drama ever made, and Lost will be all but forgotten in a few years.

5/6 of the world-famous Oceanic 6 were involved a second devasting plane crash. This news story is one for the ages.

Sawyer and Claire: have been legally dead for almost 3 years. With their arrival the O6's original lie goes up in smoke.

Ladius: simply put, he's fucked. 95% of his original passengers are dead/missing. He's beyond fucked. (It's also funny how no one really gave a shit about those innocent passengers)

Kate: is going to jail for life. She violated her parole agreement: No leaving the state for at least 10 years. Plus, the O6's cover story is no longer viable, remember. When she told Jack in the afterlife, "I missed you so much" a bet she missed a A LOT of things, including Aaron's middle school, high school, and college graduations.

Richard and Miles: weren't even on the original Aijira flight. Yikes!

You guys probably remember me as the guy who checked in a few weeks ago to mention that I was starting the show. I was politely told to GTFO or risk having everything spoiled.

I'm not quite done yet, but I'm near the end of Season 5

So far most of my questions are coming back to Christian Shephard. Obviously most of the time it was the MIB posing as him (as he does with quite a few dead people), however..I'm not quite clear on the role he played at the end of Season 4. Unless I've missed something...was that still the MIB? "Say hello to my son" leaves me not quite sure. As well as how he was "speaking for Jacob"..I don't know. The thing is, I've asked friends who are through the series and they say they're not 100 percent completely sure on this either..One person in particular mentioned that to him, Christian Shepard at the end of season 4 sort of blurred the lines between 'the whispers' and the MIB..with him not being completely sure which it was.

Is it perhaps a case of the writers writing towards one thing (Christian Shephard actually in some way speaking to Locke and all that), before sort of retroactively changing their minds (making him the MIB)?

Again, apologies if I'm missing something. I go through so many episodes at a time usually that there are moments where I tend to get 'lost' (lol)..As I rewatch episodes as my GF catches up...I'm already noticing minute details that I missed (or moments of foreshadowing)..and a lot of that just comes back to the nature and the structure of the show.
