I’m only a year and a half away from a fucking AARP card, so I guess that’s an affirmative.

I didn't really interact with him, but read a few of his posts back in the old days and those were funny.

No idea about his personal life and the allegations, but I can definitely say that the same week that I noticed SA moderation being overly woke (apparently this did not happen so suddenly, but I failed to notice the earlier signs) was the same week that the last allegations came up and they eventually pushed him off the admin post. It was the same time that the allegations on Avellone were posted on twitter, and unsurprisingly the dominant opinion was that he was guilt (...).

It didn't really seem like a coincidence. Rather an organized thing.

It happened every time, each marraige and each child and he put them all online in his vids.

His death is absolutely tragic but his kids were taken away for a reason. Once that happaned his hair started going white. He had completely lost it.

He streamed and became next to inchorent. It's all online.

-blew up a successful podcast because his cohost got with his ex of several years
-stole the RSS feed from that successful podcast and pointed it to his new cringe fest where the premise was he’d debate himself
-started his own “podcast network” called MadCast that had nothing worth listening to
-had his own currency call “Madbux” people could use to buy bonus content he never delivered
-sued his ex cohost, an ex guest host, Patreon, some kid who made fun of him online, the ex cohost’s company IRL, and the ex guest host’s company IRL for $20 million because people were making fun of him on the internet for acting like a deranged autistic psychopath. This was basically laughed out of court but cost everyone tens of thousands of dollars in attorneys fees. Also gave rise to mouth breather Nick Rekieta’s channel, because the lawsuit was so poorly written even he could pick it apart
-his new girlfriend had to have a restraining order placed against her because he put her up to calling the ex girlfriend’s work, an elementary school, and telling them she was dangerous to kids and needed to be fired
-nowadays this mid 40s has been still trying to make it in Hollywood spends his time streaming on twitch to like a dozen people with face filters that make him look like a banana (Bananadox) or a cowboy (OxMad) or a girl (Madilox) while he gets progressively drunker and incoherent in possibly the most cringe product imaginable

He got too big too fast and got hyped the fuck up, especially during the Ebaum's World days. The way he was hyped as the hero of the internet back then, there was no way things weren't going to turn for the worst for him.

It's funny to think about it, but SA was like the proto-reddit. I never signed up myself though.

he got a back injury some years ago and pretty much became addicted to painkillers which if anyone that has been down the opioid road its a long spiral down
and from experience this will not only change you physically but mentally as well.....he certainly made some shitty decisions and you could draw a big line right back to when he started popping the pain pills

if you ever get offered Opioid based painkillers to fix a problem do not fucking take them would be my advice .....they will turn you into a walking coffin
very sad how it ended but there was also no shortage of assholes on the sidelines taking advantage of him or trying to chip away at whatever normal life he had
and somethingawful is basically resetera if you left it out of the fridge on a hot day for about 5 years.

You could rapidly see him grey and detoriate. His last videos barely made sense, had to stop watching them.

Watched 3 friends top themselves/die on those things

1st friend fell off a roof at 27 and had his spine fused with nerve damage and spent years in an out of hospital getting various operations and pain meds until he was prescribed
the addictive pain meds...this combined with his settlement money from his work for causing the injury meant he combined large amounts of alcohol and other drugs with his medication
blew through his entire settlement money...lost his house/car..girlfriends...parents tried to support him but found him blue in his bed one morning...he choked to death in his sleep

2nd friend became addicted via his mom who had stage 4 cancer and he was getting her drugs for her and substituting them with panadol to he could use them to get high
his mother died and he ended up driving his car into a tree at 180km soon after

3rd friend had his leg amputated due to bad fracture and blood infection....this was due to a motorbike accident and he had other injuries as a result
his pattern was very similar to the 1st friend mentioned...he got a payout from our government department (vicroads) and pretty much went on a spiral down
over 3 years ...he took his fishing boat out one night and they found his body about 5 days later..they presume he overdosed on pills and jumped into the water

Again this not a competition. have had family members die.
Panadol here is a mild pain reiliver.

Used for headaches and menstrual pain. (Panadol). You'd have to swallow several boxes to kill yourself with toxity, they are puposely weak to avoid a bad reaction.

I don’t know any details, but from what I gathered, he was pretty much forced out and the forum’s been in decline for a long time. It wouldn’t surprise me if he took a shit deal.

And if he was broke maybe his suicide got his kids a bunch of life insurance money. Or maybe he was really just a junkie and couldn’t get it together. I dunno, when I had kids it really made me rethink choices about my physical and mental health and get more active in addressing things now instead of down the road, because if you get too far down certain roads it gets harder and harder to come back. Guy might’ve just gone too far

Regardless of what kind of person he was, this is very sad. I have such fond memories of reading articles there and cracking up. Such a legendary website, and I'm sure most of the humor still holds up. I always like the Skymall product reviews, oh and the Dog reviews. Think I'm gonna spend some time reading some of the classics today.
