The worst thing about these types of products are the overall price when you calculate how much it'd take for the entire collection and next to no chance of making the money back should you ever want to sell it on.

Just starting No Man's Land now by reading the recently re-printed Cataclysm THEN going into the 4 huge trades.

Also, Knightfall is pretty important if you can get into the early 90s art. The first book is essential, the second volume is weak as hell, and the the third is only really half decent. Basically, it's one of the very few stories that handles one of Batman's greatest villains well (Bane).

And yeah, obligatory READ ALL OF Snyder's NEW 52 (why not thrown in The Black Mirror for good measure). It's fucking amazing.

Seconding Night Cries and Breyfogle's Batman run. Also read Planetary Batman: Night on Earth, even though it's a spin-off of another series you should read. Batman runs into an alternate reality version of himself with powers that are accidentally killing people, and what results is a short, essential look into who Batman is and why he does what he does. In fact it makes you empathize with Batman better than most Bat-media ever has.
