Ok i watched this basically a month ago, but i just feel like bitching about the movie right now.

Anyway, everyone knows The Killing Joke. One of the most important and iconic of Batman's adventures. One of the books that you really know about even if you aren't waist deep into Batman lore. However, the book itself has gained criticism over it's handling of Barbera.

What is this movie's solution? a 30 to 40 minute prelude that has nothing to do with the actual comic itself where Batgirl is the biggest buffoon in the world who can barely keep up with some clown named Praz Franz whoever the fuck he is. Oh and she joins because she has the hots for Batman and then the two of them have Batsex.

Of course none of that has to do with the Killing Joke and it doesn't carry over to the 2nd half, which is actually good and faithful to the story. Only real problem i have is that i feel like Mark Hamill is starting to lose his touch as Joker as well as Kevin Conroy.

But that 30 minutes at the beginning could go fuck itself. It could have been chopped up and the movie would not suffer for it, and all it does it make the problems of the original story worse.

I think DC animated movies, between Damian's annoying ass and how he somehow kicked Deathstroke's ass and this, i think they are going downhill.

edit: also fuck i mean gone downhill.

Yeah when I saw all the negative responses I assumed it was just gaf being gaf and hating everything. But no, sadly it was dead on. Such a terrible terrible fuckass terrible movie.

I watched it recently and it was so different from the source material that it left me kinda confused if I actually read its namesake or if I read some abridged version.

I used to be pretty bummed that Bruce Timm never got to make an animated Batgirl: Year One like he wanted to, but nowadays I think that was for the best.

There was nowhere to go but down after Dark Knight Returns and Flashpoint. But they basically rode a high-powered sled while double-fisting malt liquor all the way down.

Edit: But to be fair I'll still watch them all because I like the characters and mythology.

Garbage film. They recognized that there were some problems with the original comic and they tried to address them but in the process they only made that shit about a 100 times worse. Then there's the terrible animation and the tired performances...

Apparently the Teen Titans movie that just came out is pretty good but I haven't seen it yet.

I liked the part where Batman banged his trusted ally's daughter, and his son's on-and-off girlfriend, on a rooftop in his crime-fighting outfit.

They seemed to be aware that there were problems with the original comic but didn't understand what those problems actually were. Or assumed the problem was simply that Barbara wasn't in it enough.

Yeah it is not good. At all. First half comes across as a leftover idea from the DCEU that never made it past the brainstorming stage, and the second half is only okay.

Doesn't help that the VAs' performances sounded like they were being forced to deliver their lines at gunpoint.

The only part I actually enjoyed was Hamill's "Oh, goddammit" at the end.

Yup. Really didn't like it. The Batgirl stuff is bad and couldn't be more obvious that it was tacked on. The animation and art style is terrible and lower quality than all the other movies. I also think the ending doesn't translate well. Just bad all around.

This was offensively bad. Even the DC Animated movies I haven't liked (Throne of Atlantis, War) didn't make me question what the fuck the creators were going for. This did. It's clearly one of those cases where the people steering the ship got free reign and nobody stepped in cause of their name recognition. At worst, the "bad" DC Animated films are rushed and maybe a little boring. Killing Joke was tone deaf and disjointed. You know when a show or game tries so hard to be mature that it comes off as juvenile? That's exactly what The Killing Joke felt like.

I wanna say I late-watched Justice League: Gods and Monsters around the time I saw this. Now that was a pleasant surprise and it handled more mature subject matter far more deftly

One of the writers at a con panel basically said that they wanted to address the controversy of the book by...making it more controversial.

Wrap your head around that.

Honestly regardless of your view on the Killing Joke's handling of it, the movie seemed to pleases no one or very little. The people who didn't like it hated because it mishandle barbara even more and made the fridging even worse. The people who are indifferent have to shift through 30 minutes of filler to get the the actual story line which wasn't animated the best.

Even taking into account that book's legacy, an animated version of TKJ still felt like "Who asked for this?" And god yeah, even after having read a thread that talked about it the first 30-40 minutes of it are just so so so stupid.

do you think Batman hit it doggystyle? is it uncomfortable doing it in that suit? is he completely stoic or does he break character?

these are the important questions

He had some Bat-condoms for when he put it in her Bat-cave.

Bruce Timm needs to be stopped.

When Batman hung up on Batgirl in the middle of their conversation my friend turned to my and said "Batman the fuckboy."

That joke was wildly more entertaining than the movie we were watching.

Also, I should note that since I got to see it on the big screen I got to see it with random people. They all clapped and cheered at the end of the film so maybe the general population is okay with it? Idk.

I thought people wanted every woman in the DCU to have the Hots for and/or Fuck Batman. What's the Big deal? Why should Batgirl be any Different? Hell the Yvonne Craig version wanted to nail him so why not this one.

The whole thing was bad. First 40 minutes made the overall story worse and the main story is wrecked by the terrible art style they chose.

There's a difference between the women around him being attracted to him, and him actually undoing his utility belt and nailing the daughter or his crime-fighting ally (and friend), and the sometimes girlfriend of his other crime-fighting ally (and son), in his full Batman outfit on some random rooftop.

It's just so out of character. It's fan-fiction. And to tag it onto the adaptation of a highly regarded Batman comic is astounding.

When your best friend's daughter wants to fuck you, that doesn't make it okay to have sex with her.

You don't see what's wrong about fucking your best friend's daughter? The one you literally saw grow up from a toddler to a young adult?
