Went through the Gears 5 campaign and it was really fun.
Originally released in 2019, and 5, almost 6 years later Gears 5 (Unreal Engine 4) still looks and plays good.
God willing everyone had a reaction to post 360 gears trilogy, and Gears 5 is still vile, gruesome and the "Swarm" are just as exciting as the locust, or lambent.

An 84 on metacritic is awesome, the open world gets torched with negativity but what I noticed is it was a lot of team building, the controls were really good sort of snaking through areas and overall it has people worried Gears 6 will be full open world.
The story isn't an issue here, they attempt a very basic good guy vs bad guy approach, I'm not going to address Kati, still showing a queen of the locust and I just thought the cinematic cutscenes were so good.

Got to the DLC, it sort of ends on a cliffhanger but it's pretty good.
If we're talking Gears of war and its legacy in gaming history, you have to mention its multiplayer.
The ranking system, and upgrades, DLC micro transactions is open for criticism but the gameplay, maps, modes etc. goes down as an all time great experience. You wonder what PS5 players will think of Gears Reloaded's MP.

Marcus is back.
There's a wide variety of reasons to play Gears 5 whether it's the coop campaign, the horde mode, or multiplayer it's just really well put together and does everything right and as the franchise goes to PlayStation it's kinda the only third person shooter option out there (remember socom?).

You should pick up a gears game to basically prepare for 2026's "Gears E-Day".
What did GAF think of Gears 5? I understand the "Gears 1-3 is the best code" but somehow I found Gears 5 better than 4.
