LTTP: LOST

Already know what this thread will evolve to, but I'll just say, if you REALLY love the characters and their relationships, then stick with it. If the mystery is your main draw, be prepared for several dangling carrots throughout the series with a very debated but in my opinion extremely lackluster conclusion.

I started watching Lost yesterday after borrowing my parent's copies of the seasons, at episode 10 of S1 and I'm really liking it right now! So how much long until the mythology start to come out?

OP, GTFO this topic, seriously. You don't want to get spoiled or have people tell you what to think. Just watch it until you don't like it anymore.

Hard to recommend, but at least half the ride was thoroughly enjoyable. Also, not a knock against this show but this show was more enjoyable because of the discussions I would have with friends each week and uncovering clues, easter eggs and theorizing answers to questions and the story moving forward.

and the finale was a major let down.

There are so many great parts and things in Lost, but the final episode just diminished the entire series for me. The journey is incredible, but the destination is a profound disappointment.

PhoncipleBone said:
Really, such a frustrating ending. It is not horrible, but it is not great either. It was just there, and I think it hurts more because the journey to get to it was so good.

This is true. Even if the ending is underwhelming, it is still a fantastic series.

Im not sure, but did you find the ending underwhelming?

Another update, just finished with season 1! What a cliffhanger, if I watched it when it was on TV, the wait for S2 would've been killer D:

Enjoy the Season 2 opener. It's one of the show's best moments.

Just finished watching ALL of the series and thought it was good, although a LOT of questions remained unanswered. Is there a dedicated LOST message board?

You don't need answers, it's about the characters. Duh.

Lots and when you look at it there's really not that much left unanswered. Just a lot of it was bad answers. I really enjoyed the show, despite the first seasons being better I always felt like it was a great show until the very end, even liked the way they did the ending very much.

What mythology?

This show... I love it so much, but what a disappointment the last season was.. (and 5th, to a lesser extent)

They didn't have much of it planned, did they. A lot of shitty explanations in the end.

Overall the show is an amazing ride. Obviously it's bit of a let down to notice late season six that the writers hadn't figured anything out, but Evangeline Lilly's tits an the overall sexiness of Emilie de Ravin and Michelle Rodriquez more than make up for the collapse of the plot.

Stop. Now.

I kept thinking I liked the show after S1 but I realised way too late that I actually hated everything after S1. Garbage show. Just stop, seriously.

Watching every season of Lost is one of the worst choices I've made, TV-wise.

Yeah, it's not on HBO level of shows, we all know that. But stopping after S1 would be just retarded. It's well worth to watch at least until the end of season four.

Nikki was by far the best looking lady on LOST.
then kate > juliet > and don't forget about the two in the ... ah spoilers, you know where i'm going.

Suffering through three seasons is never worth it ;)

He'll never stop after S1 because he'll be hooked, after all it's that hook which kept me going through every episode, but in retrospect I wish I had stopped after S1 and I didn't have all the cool mysteries ruined by stories in which the writers didn't know where they were going, wasted hours and hours on characters that meant nothing and explanations that just got more and more absurd/not satisfying/badly written.

I have serious hate in my heart for this show.

As much as I love it, I hate it too, for the horrible last season they gave us. And of course making it all up as they filmed it.

But still, it's a special show for me, there will be never another one like Lost.

Honest question....being as objective as you can, which is the better show.....LOST or The Wire?

I haven't seen The Wire yet.

Would everyone agree that the story would be incredible if story plots like the sickness, pregnancy issues, magic box, monster, electromagnetic energy, whispers, specialness, spirituality, visions etc all came together, in a way that made sense in the show and were all connected to make one complete story.

Would everyone agree that would make for a great story and writing?

As for The Wire v LOST... I have seen The Wire 3 times.... and while I think lost is my favourite show, The Wire is probably the overall better show. Its expertly crafted.

Season 1: Yes, this is good television.

The last season fucked it ALL up.

Except it didnt really.

It had flashes that were easily the best since the season 1 flashbacks that get alot better once you know what they truly are. For example you can understand better why Sayid lets go of Nadia, why Jack has a son etc.

The season 6 flashes had the emotional weight and great character storytelling of the flashbacks and the main character interaction of the flashforwards. They are the best flashes.(although not perfect)

Lots of effort was put into the sixth season, from the soundtrack and acting and directing and it probably was the most consistent season for special effects.

Season 2: This is terrible television.

I think season 2 has slow pace but it's really entertaining. First few episodes (after S02E03) were average, but later in the show I did miss a lot of the hatch and the mistery around Henry Gale/Walt.

Until she became crazy = when they ruined John Locke too.

See, there's no way to defend season 6, Drealmcc0y =(

John Locke's character arc is one of the finest ever seen on TV. Just because its very different and the writers had the balls to follow through with it doesnt make it bad.

Seasons 1 to 4 are some of the best television ever made. Seasons 5 and 6 are some of the worst.

Thing is, a lot of the flaws apparent in seasons 5 and 6 are also present in 4, yet for some reason it remains good. I'd say "I advise you stop at four", but there's no way you can actually do that. Just be prepared for the writers to throw everything they've been working on out the window and go "oh, it was all about the characters anyway..." but then not actually do anything good with the characters either.

Explain to me how you can possibly feel this way.

For example why is season 4 SO much better greater than season 6?
I'd have to rewatch both to give you the detailed answer you obviously want, and I'm not prepared to do that. But that they hadn't quite written themselves into a corner yet with season 4 probably had something to do with it.

Bullshit

Its easier to say something sucks that to understand it.

This is the case for most of the people who make comments like yours. "They made it up as they went along, even though I have no fucking clue if they did or not"

Cool, you're obviously an incredible person to discuss a subject about. So powerful are your skills of discussion that you're able to see past all the times I didn't say "they made it up as they went along" to argue against me as if I was saying that. What a talent.
