LTTP - Tainted Grail: Fall Of Avalon

Holy shit this game is good! Way better than I was expecting from "indie Skyrim."

In fact, I wouldn't even compare this to Skyrim. You know what game this feels like?

King's Field

This is a modernized version of a very dark, mysterious fantasy game. Clever puzzles. Great items and combat. Violent and gritty lore. Even the boss fights have intros right out of a souls game.

Hell yes. This is heavy metal fantasy.

After 12-15 hours I dropped the game

I didnt like it at all, its buggy, the sidequest are boring and the combat is extremely bland

I bought into the hype expecting something as good as Skyrim and the end result was a disappointing mess

I'm still in Act 1, but after around 15 hours, I've found that the game really shines when it comes to exploring the map and searching through every nook and cranny. The art direction is so strong that you can't help but wander further, wondering what's lurking on the horizon and to me, that's a win.

2nd and 3rd acts are not great.

Any word on PS5 Pro performance? I've been waiting for additional patches. but I haven't heard anything for a couple of months.

Well, I'm super late to the party. I purchased the game on GOG and have put about five hours into it so far. It's the first Skyrim-like game that I played and I'm shocked that this genre is not a mainstream thing by now.

I went with a stealth archer build, because of course I did, I mean c'mon, that's how you're meant to play Skyrim. And I like it, a lot. The AI is dumb as a sack of bricks and can be cheesed to oblivion, which is on par with the OG Skyrim experience. The level design is a little bit off, with nonsensical item and loot placement, empty purposeless rooms, etc., but despite that I like the exploration and finding better gear with each venture into the open world.

I can't wait to play some more.

This was the most enjoyable RPG I played this year. I got sucked into exploring and it scratched that itch better than Avowed, E33, and OW2. As an Elder Scrolls - like, I have to say that it shit all over Starfield because it actually had a world that was fun to explore and not bland procedural bullshit.

I loved the first act of this game but I dropped it when I found out you never actually reach or explore Camelot, which is something I feel the game was actually working towards.

Such a downer for an otherwise awesome RPG.
