Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon |OT| Dark Scrolls

Does choosing the negative dialogue options have any actual effect on the game? Will it prevent me from any quest options? I want to start a second character and be a total dick to everyone lol

NPC's will lock you out of quests from just asking a question that's too personal. So it's not just negative choices, but also the white questions that you use to get info.

Played around with the vegetation and chromatic aberration settings on the PS5 Pro and honestly couldn't tell much of a difference in both looks and performance. Hope they have some more fixes up their sleeve the performance is mid for the hardware available.

If you start a new character you have the option to skip the tutorial area.

The game gives you a variety of items found in the asylum area, but not everything. It gives you different weapons and magic in gear slots for different playstyles. Club + Shield, Two-handed sword, Bow, and two magic spells. You also start off with 2 Level Up points ready to spend.

Running two characters now. One spellsword (half magic, half one handed swords) and the other focused on two-handed weapon.

The block push you can do to NPCs is hilarious. I send them ragdoll flying across rooms, down cliffs, etc. They even topple each other over if you can line them up.

Thank you for this! I want to start a second character for reasons haha. This is awesome to know.

Is the block push a learned skill, or is it a native function? If so, what is the button action for it? I have had some tasty moments of sending enemies flying off of heights, which is something I love to do in games. That move will fit perfectly into my repertoire of madness lol.

My character now is spells in one hand, and either spear or wand in the other depending on the enemies and how the fight is going. I'd like to try two handed and also dual wielding, which I'll start a second character to experiment with.

As far as I know you can do it by default. To do it on console you hold block (L2) and then press attack (R2). It's fast, and uses almost no stamina. Damage is surprisingly high and you can knock someone down them spam it on them while they lie there lol.

I'm not sure what the requirements of it are for it to actually knock an enemy down though. Maybe level? Their stamina? If you don't knock them down then it at least usually does a quick stun and knocks them out of an attack.

Is the game worth it, anyone playing on PS5 Pro?
I'm playing on PS5 Pro. Everything about the game is great except for some performance issues and some minor graphical glitches. Performance is definitely not up to scratch for how it looks (not saying it looks bad, just not cutting edge). If they can get the game running smoothly it's most definitely worth playing.

I am realizing that playing on edibles has resulted in my edible'd self making questionable Attribute point allotment choices lol. I dumped some points into Attributes that my sober self is not happy with.

How is everyone building their characters? Are you finding any broken or meta setups? Are you finding any bugged or glitched skills and percentages?

I really hope they fix the stuttering and screen tearing on PS5. I very much like the look of this game and it would just be that much better if these issues were fixed. I'm chugging along and loving the game, but as time goes on I am getting more and more annoyed and frustrated at them. I'm not going to be a salty dick about it because I know that something like 50 people made the game and it's pretty damn good for that number. I just hope they can fix it at some point.

The Grindylow summon (imp looking creature with the big bonk hammer) seem to have a knack for yeeting dead enemies into the distance. Was on a castle wall fighting through bandits and several got launched into the Wyrdness never to be seen again.

Alright, it's settled. I'm buying it.

occasionally some of my attacks dont register as hits on enemies
mobs of enemies may contain a higher level enemy who can kill you in one hit

I am reading the third act is a buggy mess. I have had this issue you are mentioning too. I am putting it on hold for now because the game is simply not finished

Yeah I posted the same experience on the previous page, it almost feels like there's some RNG diceroll going on sometimes.

If you enjoy ragdolling and making enemy fly, the fire shotgun magic and especially the major fire bomb magic are incredible.

Hot take, the combat in this game is not as "polished" as avowed but i'm enjoying it more, especially the magic.

But the game is wildly unbalanced, i'm killing bosses in 2 hits, sometimes even one hit...
I almost want to pause until the balance the whole thing again, i should not be able to be so stupidly op in the very first zone of the game...

I had a mage mace with zero, and i mean zero reach, i had to be in contact with the body of the enemy to hit them.
Magic has been flawless.

Yes this is my favorite lol. Im rocking a big 2 handed sword and the sprint attack is like a big arcing uppercut with it.

Anytime I see an enemy on a ledge or close to a cliff or something, its sprint at them -> greatsword uppercut -> yeet them into oblivion

30 hours in and I'm still impressed by the writing, voice acting, atmosphere and music. Lately all first person rpg's have been big disappointments for me and I usually dropped them after a few hours but I cannot stop playing this. Also loving the setting.

Just hope its real they are working to improve performance on PS5 base and PRO , it's a good game but graphically has issues.

PS5 just downloaded new update now.

Edit - can select resolutions up to 4K again. Tearing is still same as before and honestly couldn't really notice any change in performance on PS5 Pro but I only played around for 10 minutes.

I've came into this game completely blind 5 hours ago (totally missed the boardgame somehow)...

And oh my god it is awesome! I can't even properly dress it in comprehensible English.

HR Giger in my Arthurian Myth? YES!

Proper stamina and attribute management in TES-like? HELL YEAH!

Really savyy quest-design and worldbuildung without random lore-dumps? FINALLY!

Competent enviromental storytellyng? FREAKING NORSE CHANTS AND EERIE MUSIC? MOAR!

This is what games like Avowed strived and failed to be like. This is defo up with Expedition 33 in my 'errr... it's GOTY-worthy moment from literal nobody' list.

Also, it's freaking gorgeous because art is king.

Man, I was really hoping the screen-tearing would be fixed. It even does it on the map screen which leads me to believe it's not exactly performance based.

Also they need to fix the UI when using the Stash.

The only thing I didn't check was to see if the flickering from the sun was still there but I only jumped on quickly and my save was at night time. Good to see them working on it though but so far haven't really noticed any big improvements.

Has anyone gotten to the 2nd or 3rd act willing to comment post-patches? I was reading around release that the first 3rd of the game is awesome but then there's a steep drop in quality (side quests mostly fetch quests, game becoming a buggy mess) the longer the game goes on.

Is this game any good?
Only you can answer that. Honestly I love it. The setting, the dark and gruesome vibe and aesthetic, the exploration and discovery, the music, sublime. Dialogue is often great but has some weak moments, but overall I'm thoroughly engrossed in the world and can't wait to play it each day.

I'm shocked how little the devs seem to care about easily missible quests.
Mid act 2 spoiler(quest from a soldier in the hospital)So i talked to this injured dude in the hospital. No quest sent me to him, no quest marker or anything. It started a big questline. At the end of it I met Arthurs half sister and got a whole new skilltre. Really didn't expect that.

The game is designed to let you discover things organically, not mark everything on the map Ubisoft style.
