Oh I would have loved to be one of the workers there the day before. I mean you are there and you know this amazing cluster fuck is going down tomorrow and you will be able to witness it all.

Given the situation of this, I'm willing to bet they got there the day before and were like "wtf there's not even anything here for us to set up? Quick! Buy a bunch of disaster relief tents!"

Yeah. The juggalos have been gathering without logistical issues for a while. They might stab each other once in a while but at least there's beer and Faygo
And food. I still remember a huge imgur album from a guy who attended the concert. People in trailer houses sold hamburgers, fried sausages or whatever for low cost. Call me a weirdo, but reading "if you're hungry and it's late just knock, we'll be happy to cook for you!" was really cute.

Thread title is hilarious
Indeed. Read it on my way to work and I was laughing already.

No Ja, it is your fault. You helped put this together so it's your fault.

Yes!

If you put your name on something like this, you better be damn sure you meet a set of minimal expectations.

You don't do an event like this without hiring someone who has done an event similar to this at a minimum, ideally someone who has done this in the Bahamas.

I've not seen a clusterfuck this bad in ages.

In reading this thread I suddenly realized "you know, I bet my cousin went to this thing, I should probably call home and find out." She's an Instagram influencer who happens to be half-Bahamian, so it only makes logical sense that she would be there (probably on someone else's dime).

Called home and YUP. Not only was she there but her brother was too. smh

Holy shit. Please tell us more

I'm not really understanding the logic behind "Fuck all these people that got scammed, I hope they don't get anything back, this is funny to watch them be in this dangerous situation."

While the shitshow itself is funny, I don't really think it's funny that the people got scammed. This certainly looks like it seemed legit at some point, obviously not the case once they got there. I agree the ticket prices are absurd, but I don't think that's a reason to say "fuck these people, they deserve to lose the $12,000 they paid."

People dropping potentially thousands of dollars on a faux luxury music festival that was promoted by craven social media stars and that turned out not to exist is incredibly funny to me.

That is of course assuming no one is actually harmed.

Yeah, like I said, I agree with that, it is hilarious. But there's a difference between that and "Fuck these people, they deserved to get scammed".

A con is a con, regardless whether it's being perpetrated on spoiled, rich, entitled trust-fund babies. Pretty funny though.

Not all the tickets were 12k. Some were significantly heaper. So not everyone who attended was wealthy. The "haha fuck the rich" bullshit in this thread is idiotic.
The situation also sounds dangerous and like it has the potential to result in violence. I don't see anything funny or amusing about it.

How did they let it get to the point where they had people flown out there when it was clear nothing was prepared? What a joke.

That's what I wonder in this kind of situation. The organizers already knew that there was no stage, no lodgings, no alcohol, no food, no activities. They could have pulled the plug on all of this before any planes were in the air. The fact that they didn't, implies that someone was actually holding out hope that this would be good enough. Which is just too crazy to think about.

It sounds like the vast majority of the tickets that were actually sold were the $500 ones.

Yeah, considering the circumstances, the vast majority who got screwed were probably not especially wealthy. Since if the rich had actually bought those absurdly priced packages, this may have actually turned out.

It's a sketchy business model, you're assuming you can convince the super wealthy that this is an exclusive thing they should feel privileged to attend and be seen at, while still letting in anyone ($500 for this thing would've been the deal of a century if it turned out how they said it would). Which means if any of the super rich were seriously considering those packages, they likely lost all interest when they realized that there were $500 tickets available anywhere, ever.

I hope the people paying this kind of money for such a douchey "music festival" get nothing refunded. Especially those who can't afford it.
