every single year is the iPhone! let's hope this is the year, so people can get over it and Apple can do other devices.

how much 'till the conf? any site/blog with live updates?

You make it sound like this is a rumor that's been circulating for a decade. It has been out there for the past couple of years, but there really wasn't any merit to the rumors until this year. It has been heavily speculated on this year though, I'll grant you that.

Considering they said it was 802.11 without specifying b/g or anything, I think it's safe to assume it's using the pre-n standard, and combined with the fact it has an HDMI connector I think HD is a pretty good bet.

My guess is iTunes store will start selling films/tv shows in 720p (requiring Airport Extreme 2X) and that it'll also be capable of streaming 1080p (with Airport Extreme 4X).

Might as well throw the rest of my predictions in as well:

iTV will be shown off pretty much in full, but will not be available immediately. I'd say wait another month or so. At least Paramount, maybe one other movie studio will announce support.

Mac Pros will be updated to eight-core goodness (twin quad-core chips) and Blu-Ray burners, costing some ungodly amount. Accordingly, a new version of DVD Studio Pro, with Blu-Ray authoring support, will be announced.

Leopard will be fully shown off with a release date, with at least one major unannounced feature on show. Aqua's entirely vector-based replacement will be shown off, looking somewhat like the UI to Aperature, but taken a couple of steps further.

If the iPhone is shown off, it will be more of a multimedia device with phone features than vice versa.

There's a remote chance we'll see wireless iPods (otherwise the same as they currently are) for media streaming along with iTV.

Considering that you can barely get an iPod in that price range - you need to reset your expectations.
2gb nano is $149, 4gb is $200.....what do you mean there's nothing in that price range? Pretty much everyone has said that this will be a flash-device and NOT HDD-based. Was it unreasonable to expect them to add basic cell phone functionality for another $100-$150?

If it's Cingular only, I'll be pretty pissed. :(

Prepare to be pissed. It's highly unlikely it'll be on multiple carriers from day one. Cingular is the largest Cell Phone service in the U.S., so it makes sense. Personally, I'd prefer Verizon, but considering my contract is already expired, I may be tempted to jump if the phone is worth it.

It's a new product, so it'll be more expensive than it needs to be, and definitely more expensive than the apparent price of the sum of its parts. Early adopters will eat it up regardless.

Yes, entirely. Look up the ACTUAL cost of the phone you're currently using.

true dat. but for the past years it's always been "WHOAMG the iPhone 4 sh00re this year! you'll see!!1" and it never is.

im just saying, yes, i hope this year they announce the iPhone so you guys can buy 4 of those $500 cell phones and Apple moves over.

Do your really think Apple wants to just add "basic cell phone functionality"? That phone has already been done. They want something that goes beyond what is already out there. They want it to be an object of desire like the orginal iPod, and they want it to offer more functions. It's crazy to think it would only be in the $300 price range imho.

I'd love to see if have some kind of Mobile OSX. :D

when does the store go down/come up in regards to these types of announcements? If there's a new video ipod announced I have $300 waiting for it and I want to be ready.

This will be the first time I will buy something when it goes live. Unless the iTV sucks or it isn't for sale (which I know is likely).

The new MacRumorsLive layout is NICE, with a column for picutres that might get updated along with the text...

Yeah, I am impressed with MacRumors at these times.

Their ability to handle Apple conferences so well and without dying is impressive. And the new live photo thing is very nice.

And contrary to the past years (except this summer), it looks like they intend on keeping their original website and forums running at the same time...

Apple Computer Inc.'s iTunes movie service is set to bulk up with the addition of catalog movie titles owned by Viacom Inc.'s Paramount Pictures.

In a deal that Apple Chief Executive Steve Jobs could announce as early as Tuesday at his Macworld conference, Apple plans to start selling Paramount titles on its iTunes service, according to people familiar with the situation.

For the moment, the deal will only cover Paramount's back catalog, the people said. Paramount's catalog includes titles such as "Forrest Gump," "Mission: Impossible" and "The Truman Show."
