Mad Max 14min of Gameplay

Hopefully GMG keeps that VIP deal up for a bit so I can pick the game up there

Another garbage creation by WB handing this off to third world country developers.

Ewww, that's far too noticable

I think I'll skip this one and pick it up in a year or two when it's on sale. Waaaaay too many open world games recently released and planned for release in the near future, I'm getting slightly sick of the "genre"; especially the lackluster worlds some present (Arkham Knight to name a recent example). Plus the game doesn't look too special to me.

This will probably get hammered in reviews, but I don't know. I just think it looks like a great time. I have always wanted a decent Mad Max game and this hits the right notes for me.

I try not to make too many definitive statements about demo videos. Yes, the pop-in is noticeable but there's no way of knowing when this demo build was made. That could be an issue they've already fixed...or not. I guess I try to give the benefit of the doubt until final builds come out.

I think this game will surprise people and get solid reviews. There is a denseness and richness to the game that a lot of other open world games don't have.

seems like the car customization will be nice as well...I doubt everyone will be driving around in the same layout so it'll be fun to see what people use

You're sending this game directly to Valhalla releasing it on the same day as MGSV.

I hope it does well enough, will probably buy after I am done with MGS V and Persona 5 isn't coming 2015.

Not really. Casual audience and younger is more familiar with Mad Max because of Fury Road then with Kojima and MGS.

This game is going to be Shadow Of Mordor all over again, surprise hit of the year. Hope PC version has no pop ins, everything else seems pretty good, the combat, the car customization.

This also is a survival game?

Looks better than I thought it would, but a few things put me off.

However, I'm looking forward to next month.

Scavenging is apparently going to be a crucial component but calling it a "survival" game is going a bit too far. It's still an open-world action game at it's core.

was expecting Interstate 76... sad

the minute he got run over by two cars and survived, I turned off the video..

that needs to be instant death

You can really never judge a game's difficulty based on the pre-release previews or impressions or gameplay videos. Not even ultra tough games like Dark Souls.

Dude survives
an apocalyptic sized sandstorm superhurricane while tied to the front of a car while acting as a bloodbag for another human being
in the newest movie. Why would being run over kill him? Not to mention how annoying that would be in a game where you're constantly going to be under attack by enemies in vehicles. This isn't a Souls game.

Looks Ubisoft-ish.

Solely because it's Mad Max, it'll be a Black Friday pickup, but I'm not giving up MGS V time for this... no chance.

Or maybe I'll snag the PC version and crank up the digital vibrancy setting to ape Fury Road.

Well If Windows 10 NVIDIA drivers ever want to install instead of giving me an error :/

Looked better than I expected when it comes to gameplay, has me intrigued. Now to decide if to take GMG's VIP deal or not.

Really looking forward to this. This is the Mad Max game I have always wanted. I think it will take a lot of flak from people who don't really get Mad Max. I bet people will complain about the big empty desert and scavenging (sigh).

My only fear when I first started seeing the trailers for this game was the lack of people moving around on cars. It was nice to see your companion jumping around it and enemies jumping on the car (That sawed off to the face moment when the enemy jumped on the front of the car in that gameplay was awesome). I hope there will be some War Rigs in the game with people climbing all over them.

Still looks pretty rad to me, and I can deal with some shonky pop-in if I have to. Might be a good one to grab on PC if the reviews line up.

It seems Avalanche is using procedural terrain generation. This would explain the pop-in issues.

DSOGaming: What were the technical challenges of creating Mad Max?

Alvar Jansson: The game has a lot of surface area and a dynamic day cycle, so we use algorithms to create parts of our world as the player gets close to it. This requires us to have minimal pre-baked assets, so it can be a challenge to give artists and designers the right level of control. With Mad Max, we’ve tried to create a balance between tuning procedural systems, and manual authoring. Each new control parameter increases the complexity of the procedural placement code, while every parameter we remove will generate more traditional artist work. I think in the end we struck a good compromise, where most of the colors are hand-set, while we kept the procedural rock/debris placement system.

It's using Procedural Generation folks similar in concept to No Man's Sky.

Pop ins and stuff... are people going to make the same complains with Metal Gear? because there are a lot of things in there too and none seems to be bothered.

I'll get both games.
