Season 6 of the critically acclaimed AMC series Mad Men starts up Sunday, April 7th at 9pm with a special 2 hour premiere. After a nine-month wait, it's great to have Mad Men back on the air. Please note that the show will switch to its regular 10pm slot on April 14th.

EDIT: There are two seasons of Mad Men remaining. Season 7 will conclude the series.

Summary
Mad Men is an American period drama television series created and produced by Matthew Weiner. The series premiered on July 19, 2007, on the American cable network AMC and is produced by Lionsgate Television. The series concluded its fifth season on June 10, 2012, and has been renewed for a sixth season, which will premiere on April 7, 2013.

Mad Men is set in the 1960s, initially at the fictional Sterling Cooper advertising agency on Madison Avenue in New York City, and later at the newly created firm Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce. The focal point of the series is Don Draper (Jon Hamm), creative director at Sterling Cooper and a founding partner at Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce, and the people in his life, both in and out of the office. The plot focuses on the business of the agencies as well as the personal lives of the characters, regularly depicting the changing moods and social mores of the United States in the 1960s.

Mad Men has received critical acclaim, particularly for its historical authenticity, visual style, costume design, acting, writing, and directing, and has won many awards, including fifteen Emmys and four Golden Globes. It is the first and only basic cable series to win the Emmy Award for Outstanding Drama Series, winning it in each of its first four seasons in 2008, 2009, 2010, and 2011. In 2013, TV Guide ranked it #6 in its list of The 60 Greatest Dramas of All Time.

  • Variety reviews Season 6
Weaned in “The Sopranos” school of drama, Weiner tends to begin seasons slowly, disgorging plot as he goes. Even so, there’s tantalizing material in this latest campaign.
  • Tim Goodman's THR review: 'Mad Men' Season 6: TV Review *some spoilers*
Weiner has not lost his touch at writing a beautifully crafted script -- jammed with the sadness and humor and personal revelations we’ve all come to appreciate.

I shot people I like more for less.
Nice work on the thread, as usual.

Just finished my rewatch of season 5 the other day, so I'm ready for this!

Favourite poster, it's different.

Looks like Betty has gotten the weight off as well (I know it was real life pregnancy weight but still). Hope we get some more Alexis Bledel too.

After this upcoming week will madmen be starting at 10EST? I don't want to have to choose between this and GoT every week.

Also, the OP reminded me just how glad I am Ken Cosgrove stuck around. He's always been one of my favorite smaller characters, probably because of his love of writing.

GOT replays at 10PM. Just watch it immediately after Mad Men.

Not going to be an option next week due to the 2-hour premiere though. Set up HBO Go if you haven't already.

Yes. It's 9pm for the 2hr premiere, and then it's moving back to the usual 10pm start time for the rest of the season. Both shows do immediate replays, so you can pick and choose how you want to watch them. Be careful because they both will regularly run a little bit longer than an hour which could screw up your timing.

I sure wonder if that mischievious Don Draper will cheat on his wife this season.

True story, my friend whose unfamiliar with the series saw an episode of Mad Men in season 1 or 2 and tried to describe it to me as "the one where Don cheats on his wife."

Currently on my second rewatch of season 5 (going through all of the audio commentary).

Can't wait for the coming stretch of great Sundays.
