Is this the first time Pete's ever smoked? Took it like a champ and didn't cough. Probly the G'ist thing he's ever done.

There was a scene way back when they were filming a commercial for Lucky Strike and he tried smoking to please Lee Garner, but he couldn't stomach it and just coughed.

OMG, I forgot this was on tonight. fjdksjdkdkd

Bless AMC for showing re-runs immediately after.

I liked Ginsberg last season. But anytime he crops up this year I want to smother him. The mustache, the attitude, even his voice annoys me now.

That was a great episode.

Was the trip a success? Its a little vague. My impression was they didn't get the business out there.

How many episodes aired tonight? My dvr recorded two "new" ones. the first has a totally wrong description of the episode, and one is the episode I expected. Did one air last week where Pete and Joan "bond"? I on demanded episode 9 last week with don and betty at camp. This week was episode 10 right? Or is Comcast fucking everything up on me?

good episode tonight.

having said that, it feels like this is the weakest/loosest "arc" of any season since... season 1/2? I have no real idea where the plot is heading. not really a good or a bad thing, but I think seasons 3 and 4 are strongest because of their respective arcs (the merger, losing Lucky Strike) and I guess it remains to be seen where this season will take us.

only one episode tonight

This season has just been absolutely stellar so far. By far my favorite of the entire series.

YES JOAN YES. I'm so glad she stood her ground. And Peggy with the save? *tear drop* Love it.

I also love how Roger and Don completely got their asses handed to them in LA. I'm also happy that Harry didn't take any of their crap. Hopefully that swim Megan suggested to Don actually did him some good.

I think Jim and Bob might be lovers, or at least are on the path toward that. They have some serious sexual chemistry. Bob acted very familiar and casual with Jim when they were completely alone, and the way that Jim publicly berates him makes me think it's some sort of ploy to avert suspicion.

Keep it up show.

I hope next week's episode is a Bob Benson-centric one.

If they killed off Don Draper/fired Jon Hamm and decided to give the football to Bob Benson and let him quarterback the show, I wouldn't be that upset.

Fucking Bob Benson, man.

That was a pretty amusing episode. I love that they brought back Danny instead of any of the other characters they could've brought back that people would actually have wanted to see. That was a deliberate taunt, I'm pretty sure.

Most terrifying thing in the episode, without question, was Ginsberg's breakdown. This whole time they've been making him seem passionate about the war and politics, but from that "transmissions" line I'm getting the feeling he's actually just schizophrenic. I knew there was something really weird about the alien conversation last season. I mean, besides the obvious. And of course it's right up Weiner's alley to have a character who seems like a passionate liberal in 1968 actually just be insane.

bob benson's a nice dude. i don't understand why some people think he has ulterior motives or some shit.

he clearly just admires everyone in that office and is one of those self-help nuts who is striving to make his position bigger by helping everyone and anyone he can.

that and he's probably a good guy. although it would be hilarious if he was a corporate spy or an asshole

He's gonna snap during the last 5 mins of the series finale and kill everyone in the office.

Why the lies about his dad though? To put Pete at ease? He's up to something, and I don't like that he's now moving in on Chevy. That's Kenny's account. And you don't want to see Ken Cosgrove when he's upset.

How long has Bob been with CGC? He clearly has a relationship with Cutler.

As soon as Megan showed up in LA I had sirens going off in my head. Then they got louder when the dead serviceman showed up. Then there was that bit about how being dead doesn't make you whole. Then of course we find out Don tried to drown himself in the pool, and nobody thinks anything of it.

Things are not going to end well this season.

Was Don trying to actually kill himself though?

I figured he was just fucked up from the drugs, not that he was actually suicidal.

I don't think Don was "conscious" of it, but he's not been conscious of his suicidal tendencies this season. Just look back to how oblivious he was when he pitched the heaven in Hawaii ad. Everyone else could see plain as day that it looked like a man killing himself, and Don didn't notice. When it was brought to his attention he didn't see it as a particularly bad thing, either. Then tonight we have him doing the same thing in that ad. He took his shoes off and just walked right into the water.

There's something seriously wrong with Don this year and little signs of it have been popping up all season. When you factor in that ad, how he casually acquiesces his power to the others in the firm, how he outright begged Sylvia to stay with him, to not giving a toss that his name isn't on the door anymore and it's painting a clear picture to me. This guy needs serious help and I don't think he's going to get it. Don hasn't become enlightened, he's emotionally dead. The guy walking around in Don Draper's suit is just looking for a hole to fall into and die at this point.

I'm legitimately afraid of what's going to happen to Don by the end of this season.

Bob seems like an oddly modern character. Like if you put him in another modern show, he would pretty much be the same dude. Business school attitude, overly polite.

I think they have big plans for Bob storywise. He came out of nowhere, but he is definitely an instrumental part of this season now. They've spent a good chunk of the season setting him up and connecting him to people.

Good points here.

Shit, I figured something dark was being forshadowed for this season, but Don trying to kill himself? I can't believe I didn't notice any of that.

Only thing is, why would Don be feeling this way? It's not like his life has majorly changed in any way, and the heaven in Hawaii ad he pitched in the beginning, his life was pretty much the same.

yo breh good analysis.

looks like that theory that the opening credits will be the final scene of the show is making sense now....don jumps out of the office window

I'm so afraid of what might go down. There's this eerie feeling throughout the entire season, something bad is bound to happen.

How long has Bob been with CGC? He clearly has a relationship with Cutler.

Bob has been secretly hired by Cutler to sabotage SCDP's staff. Cutler is going to slowly try to replace important people on SDCP so the new firm would continue to be mostly CGC and SDCP nothing but a shadow of its former self.

Found it interesting and a little ominous that they focused on Kenny's office door after Benson spoke to Cutler.

Edit: Wasn't Cutler very compliant on keeping Benson when Joan saved his ass? I think Cutler already knew that Benson won Joan over he wasn't worried.

I really hope they don't kill off Kenny. Kill Harry.

Anyone know what song was playing leading up to Don making out with the party chick? Sacred sun something something

daaamn at that girl who came out of the pool. don knew what was up. surprised he didn't seek her out.

Yea, I thought that Megan was going to turn into that girl during the scene where he was tripping.

About Don committing suicide: that stuff will probably be for the last season. Imo, it's going to suck if this show ends with a fucking devestating episode. Even though it is a drama...
