I'm so fucking confused. Am I tripping balls or something? I clicked that 15 second teaser a couple hours ago and I CLEARLY heard the music. I just clicked it again after reading Ratsy and Cornballer's posts which confused me and now the music is gone?

when I clicked on it a couple hours ago you can hear the song and the lyrics and everything. Now it's not there at all. That's why when I was reading your back and forth with Ratsy I was like WTF are they talking about.
"He took off again with just the captain and the crew, instructing them all to stay in the cockpit and leave the door closed. He demanded particular speeds and altitudes." It would make more sense if it was Ted, as he is the one instructed enough to give that kind of information. He is calm and polite too (not that Don isn't.) But, yeah, the cryptic nature of the show and Don Draper can pull that off and make jaws drop.
The D.B. Cooper theory while interesting, just doesn't seem likely to me. To be honest it seems like one of those fan theories you would see for a show like Lost, an Mad Men has never been that type of show.
Now if I'm wrong, I'm sure (hoping) that Weiner comes up with a solid execution for it, so it'll be excellent and in line with the mostly high quality of the show.
I think my main reason for doubting the theory is that the historical aspect of the show has never really been a part of the main plot.
It seems to me at least, that aspect of the show is there for atmosphere or it's there for us to get a better idea of the characters on the show, just to see how they react to these events.
I think it would be weird if suddenly
the show ended with Don becoming D.B. Cooper, since then that would mean a historical event would be inserted into the plot or at least into a character arc. But then again it could potentially fit in with the cryptic nature of show.
Maybe, I'm wrong though and by the end of this half season, the show will have foreshadowed to a fairly extensive degree, that this whole theory is correct, but for now I'm gonna say it won't happen.
I think one reason the show hasn't busted out in popularity like Breaking Bad did (subject matter aside) is that they upload the episodes on Netflix too late for people to really catch up at a reasonable pace.
Of course, it's also possible that the plane is just a playful reference to the fan theory, you know Weiner loves to troll. Remember all the "Megan is going to die" imagery last season? XD

Weird that they took out the music from the teaser. It was much better with it though I guess they had to remove it probably because of licensing issues.
I'm confused as to how Don could get TWA as a new account since he was fired at the end of season 6?
Unless you think SC&P will hire Don back, since maybe his replacement won't be nearly as good? Either that or he'll work for another agency?
Relating to that I have another question.
If Don wanted to get a job at another advertising agency would they be able to find out why Don was let go, because if they could it seems it would be hard for him to get another job, but if they can't I'd have to imagine with his experience he could get another job easily.
I thought it was apparent that Don is going to have a come-back of sorts; I imagine he'll work at a different firm or build his own. However, Don is certainly not returning to SC&P, even if they beg him to come back--but, it's safe to say he'll devote every fiber of his being to make the partners regret ever letting him loose.
Don is in high demand, regardless of why he was "fired." His latest ad pitches have been very abstract, and risqué for the time period--but his work (Heinz Ketchup, Hawaii hotel, etc...) represent the future of what advertising begins to look like (starting in '70s). His work is at the forefront of advertising, which is why many clients are indifferent or outright offended by Don's pitches.
It'll be interesting to see whether Don continues his edgy work as the show inches closer to the 1970's.
I like the image, but I don't like the overlay of the classic draper image and the title on top of it. Maybe the clash is the point, but it doesn't work well for me.

That Cooper thing reminds me that I love how such a muted and refined TV show has some of the most insane theories and predictions of any show on TV. Gets me every time. #MeganWasDeadAllAlong
Heh, I love that one comment sparked a rebirth of the DB Cooper believers in here.
Yea that was the theory I was alluding to. But I'm also in the camp that find the theory to be very unlikely. Mr Saturn is right on the mark about Weiner's history of trolling as well.
I don't really like this season's poster, but I suppose we were very spoiled by last season. Season 6 probably is the best poster in the series.

I completely agree, I can understand some sort of delay from when the DVD/blu-rays are released; they want to drive sales especially since it was released prior to the Christmas shopping season. But is there really any difference between putting the season up 4 weeks ahead of a new season instead of 2 weeks ahead of a new season?
I know everyone has different taste/opinion, but the poster isn't meant to look pretty. As some pointed out, I believe it is foreshadowing the clash that is going to happen. The death of the suit with the coming of the 70's.
The reddit poster is just generic, don't see how "it shits" all over the official one. But again, that is my opinion
i love the poster except for the lit up high rise buildings at the very bottom behind the 'final season begins' text. i think the clash of the black draper silhouette and the psychedelic background looks good whereas that bottom part looks tacky.
