Love reading the Mad style articles from Tom & Lorenzo. I only started reading them last week. I'm gonna start from the very first one and read them all. So good...

Does anyone have that .gif where Don throws money at Peggy's face (without the "Here go to Paris" subtitles)?

Couldn't find one either so I made one. Does it resemble the one you were thinking of?

i just love it when any time pete tries to do anything remotely don-like it hilariously fucks up for him.

Loved the parallels between Don and Pete in this episode. They're both in a frustrating rut that they can't make heads or tails out of. The steady, almost nauseatingly stable condition of their work seems to be allowing them to divest too much time in complicating their relationships. I'm more interested in how this will end for Pete because he seems to react harsher than Don, who has shown time and again that he has the ability to pull himself back up with a clear head.

I was rewatching the episode today and I noticed something that I didn't see the first time. Peggy has a pack of candy in a purple and silver package in her desk drawer that she says in season 5 (I think) that Don had given her that was a good luck charm before client meetings. They've never explicitly said, but I'm pretty sure that this is the same candy that Don tells Bobby that his father liked in season 2.

Little things like this make me love this show even more.

Goddamn I loved this episode. Top-10 right here.

I would just like to point out that Glen is wearing jacket cloth design that is called Glen Plaid. Obviously a little wink from Weiner.

These are the details I come to GAF for.

About the show, who is doing Lane's job now? Bert Cooper has some role in finances, but he isn't really an accountant.

So does that make him extra close to Glenn?

This post hasn't gotten enough praise XD

Also, Elmo's voice is horrible. The original guy got fired after some sexual stuff, right?

And I will say my favorite of Don's flings was definitely Menken. I didn't find her the hottest of the bunch, but she was definitely the one who had her head most on her shoulders and she was very smart. When she started to fall for him I was like "Don't do it! Nooo, he's gonna ruin your life!!" but then she wised up in the end.

I also liked Faye, but not so much that it killed me when Don left her. And I still like Megan, so it's all good.

Finally caught up with this season. God, Pete is such a doofus. I always have a hard time taking him seriously for some reason. Maybe because it always feels like he's a kid trying to play "grown ups" or something.

Man this scene is uncomfortable for me to watch. I know it's not ultra-sensational or anything but it's one of Don's lowest points in terms of how he's treated others. Elizabeth Moss genuinely looked so insulted and hurt in that scene that it came off as real for me. And she was coming off a high moment, so excited...

So what's everyone's favourite line from the show so far. Just one line. For some reason I still love "THAT'S WHAT THE MONEY IS FOR". I almost want to become a manager of something and purposely not say thank you in hopes that someone tells me that I never say thank you and then I can whip that line out. Probably won't sound as good as Don though.

he's the kid at the grownups table basically.

"You only like the beginning of things" is the line that stuck with me the most.

Out of all the lines Don has said it's one he repeated in this episode too that has stayed with me. "This never happened." I have said that line to myself a lot of times, many years before watching Mad Men. Compartmentalizing stuff is a mistake I often make myself. It may be a very unhealthy thing to do but dammit it's so fast and efficient.

Sally to Don: "You say things and you don't mean them. And you can't just do that."

Pretty much sums it up.

"Is the temperature okay?.... Because... it's been known to get hot

Yup, rewatching through the whole series makes this very apparent. I don't know how Weiner does it.

I think it has more to do with having to focus less on building characters up and giving us back stories and such. Like you don't have to necessarily spell out the character's motives because we already have a good grasp on who they are as people, so as a writer you can spend more time on the actual development and story.

I wait for a Menken return appearance every season but I never get one! :(

New episode tonight:
To Have and To Hold

The partners try to keep a secret campaign under wraps; an old friend visits Joan.
Tonight's episode is running a little longer than usual (4 min past the hour), so make sure your DVR is set up accordingly. I might not be able to watch until late tonight and there are no screeners out to critics, so the content round up won't be up for a while.
