Mad Men - Season 6 - Sundays on AMC

I thought they played up his implied sexuality in the pilot much more compared to most of the other early episodes.

The pilot is very wink-wink-nudge-nudge-it's-the-60s in a number of ways.

It's still a pretty great pilot, but the show matured a lot over the course of the first season.

Made this gif from my favorite scene from last night.

Thanks for playing.

I loved this part.

The woman Pete slept with was fine as hell. Damn. It's a pity for him that he lacks everything else that Don (superficially) has save for his scumbaggery. Trudy asserting openly her figurative ownage of his balls was very fun.

And again with Don and doors.

I was saying during the episode, "How did Pete pull that woman?"
I should have called sooner that would end in delicious utter failure.

Seriously, seeing the world crumble around Pete is one of the most satisfying reoccurring events to exist in the medium of television on this planet we call Earth.

Don has done this enough to know how to keep his stories straight.

I dunno. The theme of this episode is self-destruction, after all -- Don killing Herb's idea with deliberate incompetence, Stan telling tales out of school to Peggy and Peggy telling them to Ted, Pete blowing up his marriage with a girl who blows up hers, even Megan's baby miscarrying. That's why it's called "The Collaborators" -- it's about the ways in which we collaborate in our own destruction. Don makes a lot of slips this episode (coming to Sylvia's door, "See you tomorrow"), right after an episode where he says he wants to stop having the affair he's having. Given the rest of the material, I suspect they're telling us that Don is setting himself up to get caught. Which, as Trudy helpfully reminds us, he's already done by sleeping with a woman who lives next door.

Good episode again. The dinner scene between Don and Sylvia was goooood. I'm still wondering if Arnold is also having an affair. But maybe that's too much :p

Oh and Trudy <3

Wow, imagine that Sylvia catches him having an affair. It would be all kinds of fucked up.

"Oh yeah? Well I've been having an affair with Don all along!"

Anyways, I'd hate seeing Don getting caught but it's more or less inevitable now, isn't it?

Arnold would probably be the happiest man in the world to find out that his mancrush is banging his wife :lol

This reminds me of a question I had. Has there ever been a couple, depicted in US popular media, as both functional and knowingly sleeping around?

House of Cards (the Netflix remake). However, without spoiling anything, the cracks definitely start to show by the end of the first season.

Glen Bishop is the best character on the show. Don, Joan, Peggy, Roger, pfft. Give me more awkward, vaguely-creepy pseudo flirting between Glen and Sally any day.

Can't we just have Peggy back at SCDP? Yes pls

I don't think that's happening anymore. Peggy is the Don of CGC, her coming back to SCDP would mean 2 things:

* Don being promoted or taking another role outside of creative.
* Peggy going back to her old role.

None of these are happening.

Considering that she is not a regular cast member and just a special guest, I have a feeling she wanted to be done with Mad Men. The whole Pete scenario felt very forced.

Why on earth would she want to leave Mad Men?

It's one of the most acclaimed shows of the past decade, and her other show is on the brink of death (again).

And it's obvious that Trudy is not going anywhere. She's sticking around and will make Pete's life a nightmare.

At the Speakeasy interview Alison was still very excited about Mad Men and how everything goes. Funny thing she also mentioned btw is that she never recieves scripts from episodes she ain't in. So when it's going to air she doesn't know about most of the stuff that's going on either (though she could ask fellow cast members of course...).

What about it felt forced? Everything that happened felt earned from the conflicts last season through all the actions that took place this week.

Something about the first episode didnt click with me. It just seemed off. But the second.. kicked some ass. Love Trudy. Not only is she freaking hot, but she is actually the only genuinely good person on the show. She would do anything for that asshole Pete. As far as i understood it, and i think this was also known from a previous season, she knew about Petes infidelity. As long as it wasnt brought home or close to home i think she was willing to give it a pass(somewhat). Pete is a fucking moron.

Maybe it felt forced because Trudy is the only female character on the entire cast that actually has the balls to stand up for herself in her relationships with men

She has definitely known since the incident with the au pair, and possibly earlier than that.

There was a file online that had the last 8 minutes missing. That's likely what you downloaded and the reason you missed the scene.

I dunno dude, if they didn't have dinner plans for the day after don't you think Megan would have gotten suspicious? Remember Don has been cheating on his wife since season 1 and probably even before that, so he has years of experience under his belt. This also isn't the first time his mistress has met his wife (Bobbie Barrett comes to mind), so I doubt he slipped up in that conversation at all.

Joan took about four years but finally hit back against Dr. Rape.

Mona divorced Sterling.

Betty certainly went with the (deserved) nuclear weapon response to finding out that Don had lied to her all these years ranging from Dick to cheating on her from here to high heaven. I actually feel shitty thinking back and rooting that they'd bounce back together.

Just watched the episode last night.

What if Megan is cheating on Don with the Doctor?

I made that suggestion on Sunday but everyone ignored me. I know I'm right though.

Oh. I REALLY need to re-watch the show.

I re-watch the entire series every year before the new season starts. I wasn't able to finish the whole thing before season 6 started this year though, so I'm working my way through it concurrently. I'm halfway through season 4 right now, so almost there!

I agree with that. I felt that the show didn't feel comfortable with itself until season 3. When all the pieces fall into place it gets really magnificent and that doesn't happen until early season 3. Then it's an incredible ride all up until late season 4. I felt the last season was worse (even if Signal 30 was one of the best episodes of the series) than the other ones, but this season started very promisingly.

I could see the doctor having an affair with someone, since his profession gives him an obvious excuse, but it being with Megan seems kind of far fetched. It would at least significantly strain the veneer of plausible coincidence that all fiction requires to operate.

That's the point. He's not slipping up accidentally. He SHOULD know better. But he wants to get caught.

Yeah. Betty Draper didn't disappear from the show after she and Don divorced. Same will be true with Trudy, especially since she intends to keep the marriage and just hold Pete hostage in it. Trudy is a badass and I will heartily enjoy watching her crush Pete.

Listened to that last night, fun interview. I agree, I don't think Alison wants off the show in any way.

Community actually stands a decent chance at getting renewed again, as amazing as that sounds. NBC has nothing.
