Looking good. Could tone the tackling noise a bit, but maybe I'm just saying that because I have headphones on. The commentary feels kind of empty without madden/michaels, but I don't mind much. Otherwise it's good.
 
The animations are still bugging the hell outta me, but other than that it looks great
 
I guess the poorly encoded video doesn't help, but I would've believed that this was the Xbox version if you'd told me that it was.
 
So a few runs and short passes that dont even get a first down and 2 successful hail mary touchdown passes. Yeah its Madden all right, glad im not a big football fan. :-/

I think that's how they meant for it to be this time. They want it to be like you're on the field rather than watching on TV. The dev interview talked about beefing up the shoulderpad sounds when tackling. Che, how varied are the animations from what you saw? The videos don't really show many new animations but I know they're in there somewhere.

Agreed, but pretty much because there are no noticeable details or great animations.

The details just don't look that great. Their uniforms are just flat textures....the places where their clothing bunches up are just 2D pictures of bunched up clothes pasted on. I would have expected them to at least model the shirts and stuff. Seems like Xbox Madden with some Doom 3 faces.

That doesn't look anything like the xbox version.

I don't know if I'm that excited about this though. We'll have to see.

I agree. NFL 2K5 looks better than that video. And the presentation...doesn't even COMPARE to 2K5.

I'm disappointed by this game, I really wanted to give it a chance...

Well, it doesn't help that I haven't scrutinized the Xbox version that much. :lol Whether it actually looks like Madden 2006, I dunno. Probably better to say "I would have believed this was running on the Xbox if you had told me it was".
 
I don't like it at all. I just got done playing a game of 06 on the PS2, and this doesn't look that much better. It's the jump I would expect to see from 2-3 seasons in the same console generation, not from a next gen platform.
 
you know, whenever i see new Madden footage, i just can't help but feel bad for Visual Concepts fans. don't really care for football games, but even i can see that they would've made a much better game on every level. crazy graphics to boot as well i bet.

After seeing 2k douches troll every Madden 360 thread, I'm glad Take Two and VC lost the license. Their fans don't deserve another buggy, glitchy, halfway decent playing game.

Join the winning team. Madden is the better playing game.

Looks pretty good. Still think I might pass on it though. Played enough '06 already, and I don't like the changes they made to the vision cone.

The difference is that the 2K series was improving in terms of gameplay, whereas the Madden series has never improved their visuals or presentation.

Can a Madden fan explain to me how you're supposed to catch the ball when you can't even see it in the air? Look at the last completion in the video...

I cut the demo and it was one of those deals where I figured for a quick demo it was more exciting to see a couple of standard plays and then a couple all-out crazy bombs. That's why it's Manning, with no vision cone. Also, EA says it toned down the base difficulty a little. So, veterans will want to kick it up a notch right off the bat probably.

With the boost on the right trigger and analog jukes using the stick combined with the X button running feels a lot more involved. It's going to take some getting used to, but my initial impression is very good.
 
I looked at the high quality video...and there is NO self shadowing! This has to be an unfinished version of the game...

Anyways I'll post my greviences in another thread, this thread is about 1up's preview.
 
The presentation is just really weak. I am sure the gameplay is great but after playing the 2k series this game just looks so lifeless.

EA also mentioned that the retail version will look EVEN BETTER.

How much different does the game feel while playing compared to Madden Xbox/PS2?
 
I'll be the one to say something positive. The faces look really good.


Remember when you first saw football for the Dreamcast? It was like, WOW I need to play that. Why aren't I feeling the same thing for this game?

I hope so, little touches like that could make this game look 5 times better, and have more of an impact on gamers.

Because the graphics in NFL 2K were a huge jump from PSX/N64/SAT. Madden 360 is nowhere near that much of a leap in graphics.

This is correct. But 2k games always did have some good looking effects and the wars were always interesting, especially as far as graphics. Btw, anybody else think this game looks like it plays worse than Madden 06 on Xbox and PS2? The camera is bad off the snap, the running backs look like they're less controlled, and the Manning floaty bomb catch for a TD was definitive ridiculous Madden gameplay.

More like shitty defense,he had a LB (if anyone at all) on Stokley and had single coverage on Marvin Harrison,possibly the best WR in the league.
 
Ground textures still seemed muddled and Harrison would never do a touchdown strut like that.

Armed textures definitely improved over the target render.

It has NOTHING to do with the console.

Look at how the Xbox version of Madden 2006 didn't even support bump-mapping and pixel shadows that applied to themselves, the ground AND other players (all features that were present in NFL 2K5 a game made a year prior!).

Ermac: To be fair, VC had a good year with FINAL dev kits to develop NFL 2K, whereas EA has only 2-3 months! But my concern is that it is being outdone by a VC title made on inferior hardware. They've only matched what NFL 2K5 has to offer in terms of multitexturing on the players...and still haven't caught up in regards to shadows.
 
I'm glad there is no NFL 2K this year. The game would look amazing, and have excellent presentation no doubt... But balance issues would ruin the game, and make me cry myself asleep each and every night. It's better this way.

I'm sorry i will continue playing my current 06 becuase this is ass. 07 will be mine though.

absolutely underwhelming. I would rather have seen current gen engine and models with updated textures and stadiums and lighting. it just looks so wrong and boring. just when I was starting to really like Madden. I may have to pass on this and concentrate on bball where theres more and better choices.
 
i saw the vid. game moves too slow from what i see, hopefully they fix that.

p.s. and yeah they are using the VC "stick up the ass" style running animation. i was pretty disappointed to see that. i was also disappointed to see they were using the shitty NFL 2kx kicking meter -_-

oh well... what else are you going to buy nfl fans!? am i rite!
