MAF, Drinky, What games do you *like*?

When we do year-end awards at 1UP, I wanna have a lot of weird honorable mention categories (so we can give Best Supporting Actor to Lawrence, Best Set-Piece to The Sorrow, Best Belated Bribe to this bicycle Rockstar just sent us, and some other stuff). I should come up with a category custom-tailored for Steam, too.

Sounds like a good plan. We've done some wacky awards like that in CGM just about every year for the last five or so. I just ran across that issue recently in fact. Here's some from last year...

Raid Post-patch Recovery Award - Temple of Elemental Evil
Best Game To Show Joe Lieberman - Railroad Tycoon 3
I Waited Seven !#$@S%^ Years for This?! Award - Master of Orion III
Best use of animated newspapers - Commandos 3
Warcraft III Version II - Lords of Everquest

You get the idea. That kinda stuff is fun to come up with. Doug might even have sent one of those in. :)

Oh...my favorite.. Famous Last Words - "Half-Life 2 will ship on September 30th (2003), and you can quote me on that." Gabe Newell, Valve Software

heh

Best interactive apology: the beefed-up gravity gun in the last stage of Half-Life 2.

We should hook up Lieberman with some Katamari Damacy.

Did you get the press release from Matrix Games today? Apparently their new director of Media Relations is named Joe Lieberman.

Yeah, I got that one. For a second I thought it was a joke. Poor guy's probably going to get a lot of hassle for the first few months.

There was some guy on a G4 show the other day playing a PC game against some other folks, and his alias was DRINKY CROW. Random.

cheers guys, especially Drinky. I'm an old C64/Amiga gamer, that got seduced by the SNES/PSX. I loved turn based stuff, especially laser squad/xcom. Never really got into the heavy duty stats-based RPGs, or PC games at all really.

Its just good to know that behind the gruff exterior there is someone that actually stil cares about games.

Anyway, teabreak's over, back on your heads...

Well, Drinky Crow IS a character. I've seen other people online with the name and or a picture of it as their avatar.
