Switch (now Switch 2) is the only modern console I own and I've yet to find the time to get to BotW.

Nintendo games are simply fun for me. I could play turf war in Splatoon for hours straight and never get bored. I have around 80 hours in both F-Zero 99 and Tetris 99 which are just some extras thrown in with base NSO. I like "pick up and play" experiences which is where Nintendo excels.

Wow a lot of nintendo bros in here. Probably your comments made me fall into fomo. I'll be more resistant for the Switch 2(I was gonna buy it last week lol). At least I'll wait until a good Pokemon or Zelda comes out.

Metroud Prime 4 might be the game that gets me to purchase a Switch 2...but the screen being such shit has me thinking that waiting for a revised model will be better.

Of course, I may just wait to play Metroid Prime 4 via emulation.
Metroid Prime 4 is a copy and paste of Metroid Prime 1 with the addition of that generic tokusatsu character, see the gameplay. Unfortunately, there is no way to innovate in this game, honestly it will be a worse Halo 5.

I originally bought a SW1 with Odyssey and Zelda BOTW, but graphically Zelda sucked and I didn't love mario, SO I sold it right away.
I bought SW2 with Zelda BOTW, MKWorld and Zelda:TOTK. I put 80 hours into BOTW and finished it. I played the other day with some nephews MKworld, I had fun listening to them and seeing their reactions but the game is not that fun to me.
I want to start TOTK later this month when I have some time. I have always liked Monolith soft games, so I will probably get Xenoblade Definitive edition, other than that, I look at bananza, and it's not for me, nor the other kiddies stuff. I will try Metroid Prime 4 when it's released. We will see.

I have been tempted to double dip, Inside and the other game in black and white from the same dev.

Yes I've enjoyed a lot of their other franchises.

But, with any gaming franchise, unlike how conventional wisdom seems to operate, if I enjoyed the past one it often means I won't like the next one because it will be too much the same thing.

So what do you think about Nintendo games outside of Zelda?
I never thought of zelda first when thinking of nintendo so the whole premise of your question seems weird to me, as if you're saying it's a universal truth everyone thinks about zelda.
Metroid, Smash, Pokemon and Mario are the ones I care about, but even then I only bought a WiiU and a Switch because of bayonetta 2 and 3, the DS I bought for the castlevania games and the 3DS I bought for monster hunter.

I pretty much like all their major franchises except Pokémon, Fire Emblem, Xenoblade and Animal Crossing.

I only care about 3D Mario (also Donkey Kong) and Metroid (Prime and actual 2D games, didn't care about Dread)

I don't see myself getting a Switch 2 anytime soon, I've barely used my Switch Lite

98% finished with BoTW.
Bought ToTK but haven't played.
Spent a lot of time with ACNH.

Interested in next Zelda but hoping it'll be a nice change from BoTW/ToTK, will probably buy it.

Nintendo in a nutshell for me.

Mario, Zelda, Metroid. Those are the big 3 crown jewels that are 99.9% of the reason I buy any Nintendo console, at least since the Wii.

yeah, me likey overall.

but havent bought a zelda since wind waker, and the last 3d mario i really enjoyed was mario64.

I pretty much like all their major franchises except Pokémon, Fire Emblem, Xenoblade and Animal Crossing.
dont care about that stuff either
used to love pokemon on gameboy. 3ds pokemon was good too.

It's why I buy their systems. But I do get other games for it. Hell, I bought the switch 2 just for the performance improvements for the zeldas being fixed. The isometric zeldas and tears performance were so bad I hadn't even finished them in switch 1. That alone is what pushed me over. Comparitively they look and run great.

But the switch 2 hardware performance capabilities seem to finally align for Nintendo style games for current displays. Nintendo games do not need to be packed with high res textures and effects. As long as they can deliver reasonably crisp looking games for primarly cartoonish looking games at good frame rates, I think it will be fine for the majority of first party games.

Third party non exclusives that I want. I'll play elsewhere. Pretty much the same as most others here do as well. I mean do people buy switch games thst are non exclusive if they have other systems with better performance? The only scenario, I see that makes sense would be the portablity factor.

I kind of see Zelda as its own thing — it feels different from other Nintendo games and seems to be aimed more at an older audience. And I think it's just as popular as Pokemon or Mario games.

I like Metroid Prime and F-Zero (and Starfox).

So I'll never have to buy a Nintendo console ever again ;(

Guys: we're talking Nintendo produced and developed games, not third parties.

Yes!

Xenoblade, Fire Emblem, Astral Chain, Mario, Kirby, Kid Icarus Uprising, Donkey Kong and even third party exclusives like Bravely Default series.

I'd try more of their games if they didn't feature the same character from 40 years ago and everywhere, others I honestly dgaf about like the Kirbys and Pikmins, Pokemon was cool once and yeah, Zelda it is then

Bro, I had a blast playing Metroid Prime 1 remastered. I will find some way to play MP4

No. I hate everything.

Can't wait to hate Donkey Kong Bananza on my hated Switch 2. It has potential to be my most hated game of the year.

I must have grew out of them because i quit caring about Nintendo games after the N64. I dont find Nintendo games challenging at all so i end up getting bored with them. I help my wife with Zelda BOTW and TOTK sometimes doing the challenge dungeons or beat the big guys on the horse that charge at you and it's pretty easy. I'm not a souls diehard either.

Yes, I actually prefer the Mario games nowadays. Used to be a Zelda Fanboy, but new Zelda games, while great, kinda lack a certain spirit that makes them Zelda games like the old ones. I'm not huge on Open World stuff too, which kinda affects it. Absolutely love Smash Bros, Metroid, Mario, Pokemon(old gens) Advance Wars, Zelda etc

I love Nintendos Exclusives, but I feel I am bias because video games for a good chunk of my life were on Nintendo Hardware. I find I like more of their exclusives because they usually design their games with the console hardware in mind. But there are some games and IPs they created that they don't use. I'm glad they make interesting and weird games such as Pikmin, Metroid, Zelda, and Splatoon. Mario is fun but can be hit or miss for me. But I do wish they would look back and try to bring some games back and give them another chance. I would love more racing games like F Zero, 1080 Snowboarding, and Wave Race. Why not do an art house rpg with someone who wants to do something left field such as when they let Shigesato Itoi make Mother. Yoshi's Island in 3D could be interesting. Overall I still love their exclusives but I do wish there were more available. Or even new games that are not attached to current or previous IPs. The remakes and remasters have been great and given me a chance to play some old those older games I have wanted to play. Also NSO is still great for the emulation of their old games that are exclusive. Except for all my PC emulation boys shout out to ya'll for giving their old games new life as fans making this weird sub culture of Nintendo fan exclusives I like to call them. Still excited though for the future. Donkey Kong Bananaza, and Kirby Air Riders are my most anticipated next to drag X drive.

My Switch and now Switch 2 is literally my Xenoblade machine.... I will probs get Metroid and I'll get around to playing TOTK again but for me I don't think Zelda is Nintendos holy grail, MonolithSoft are going to blow us away... again... when we see their next game.

Haven't played a lot outside of Zelda, but I'm planning to play more and then we will see

I sincerely doubt hardly anyone buys a system just to play Zelda. Zelda elements are in so many other games and genres now. Not to mention Zelda games take 6+ years to make now.

For me, Mario, Zelda, Pikmin, Kirby, Paper Mario if they're an RPG, Yoshi, Donkey Kong, Luigi's Mansion, Xenoblade, and maybe Metroid if it looks amazing, like Dread or Prime 4. And don't really care about the other ones… but if they brought back FZero, obviously that one.

If Splatoon Raiders turns out well, then I guess that too. Since I like Splatoon as a concept I just don't care/ am too old for multiplayer shooters. Same with Smash/ Mario Kart, too old now, no one plays that solo. Maybe when my kids are old enough to play I'll buy those again.

I do like Mario Party 3 and Metroid Prime a little so it's mainly Zelda that I'm interested in and mostly Majora's Mask, Ocarina of Time, Twilight Princess, and whatever the WII U tech demo Zelda was. I would buy the Switch 2 just for 2 games if those two games are Zelda games made with the style from those Zelda games I've mentioned.

Hell yeah.

Love Mario, Xenoblade, Kirby, Splatoon, Metroid, Donkey Kong.

For my money, they make some of the best games in the business.

Yes? It's not even my favorite Nintendo franchise, Xenoblade is priority if I could only get one of the two new entries, it's just better than almost anything in gaming so far. Metroid, Fire Emblem and 3D Mario are also amazing games and if Kirby game continue with Forgotten Lands style it will become another priority franchise, same for DK if I like Bananza enough.

Odd premise, considering how much shit the new Zeldas got and especially TOTk for being "DLC" (lol).

I like many of Nintendo's IPs. Metroid and Zelda above all, with Mario immediately below. Xenoblade is fantastic.
DK is always good fun. Kirby basically doesn't have a bad game to its name. Splatoon is some of the most original stuff to come out in gaming in the last decade.

Of all of their IPs, it's the strategy games I'm not into. Advance Wars and Fire Emblem are just not my cup of tea.

Not me.

I really do not enjoy mechanically varied, hugely colourful and fun 3D platformers with perfect controls and challenge.

I like cinematic games with little gameplay where I escort an obnoxious teenager across some Godforsaken tundra.

I love Zelda, but it's not my favorite Nintendo IP by far, here is a list of games I like better than Zelda:
  • Metroid;
  • Fire Emblem;
  • Smash Bros;
  • Pikmin;
  • Mario.
Just to stir some controversy I don't like:
  • Pokémon;
  • Animal Crossing;
  • Splatoon.

Mario Kart, Mario, Animal Crossing, Super Smash Bros., etc.

But tbh I'm kind of tired of these games as they don't evolve in a significant way or they modify the formula in a way that leans too far from the series strengths. Naturally after the fifth iteration of something there's just going to be fatigue. Even Zelda was getting stale, but Breath of the Wild really shook things up... And then they literally just make an expansion pack for that game and pass it off as a whole new game 🙄

As of now there's nothing that would inspire me to get back into Nintendo's ecosystem. The next Zelda will have to be something really special. All these other games are what I'd buy after Zelda.
