Green Blue Werewolves wat.

Counterwolves precon???

Fuck all this magic discussion is making me want to draft until I drop.

The Grand Prix schedule for the rest of 2012 has been posted, along with the beautiful version of Lotus Cobra that they will have. Note the Team GP, really interesting.

Any good sources for some foreign BB revised / 4th lands? Preferably Japanese. I'm a bit of a snob with my lands but I don't want to drop $6 each for beta islands at StarCity LOL

That new Lotus Cobra is super sick. I want three for my Vintage Gush deck (which I refuse to play at the moment due to metagame issues, but it's still there!).

I'll get one at GP Atlanta and try to trade for the others.

If you are going to go for "budget" pimp basics, look into the Arena/APAC or Euro Islands. Much classier than FBB IMO, and still pretty budget friendly.

(disclaimer-I use a mix of Euro and Arena 2003 islands, I don't own a Guru Island yet but I am hoping to win one this weekend in a local event).

As you may already be aware, PAX East is about to happen. It might even be happening right now, depending on when you read this! And that means we finally get to announce something we're pretty excited about: Duels of the Planeswalkers 2013.

Here's why we're excited about this:

iPad: This summer in addition to XBox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC, Duels of the Planeswalkers 2013 is going to be available on iPad!

Planechase: Not only is Wizards of the Coast coming out with four new Planechase decks on June 1 (which introduce the new Phenomenon card type), but you'll be able to play Planechase multiplayer games in Duels of the Planeswalkers 2013!

Optional Manual Tapping of Lands: Although Duels of the Planeswalkers is mostly for people who are new to Magic, it's a lot of fun for people who have been playing Magic long enough to know what's what. So for Duels of the Planeswalkers 2013, you can turn on an option to let you choose exactly which lands to tap!

New Decks; New Challenges: Naturally, a new Duels of the Planeswalkers means new decks to battle with and new puzzles to solve.

Meet the New Boss: The final battle in Duels of the Planeswalkers 2013 is someone you might recognize. Say hello to Magic’s ultimate evil mastermind, dragon Planeswalker Nicol Bolas!

Finally!

That is great news. It's usually fine for me, but every so often it fucks up the tapping and costs me the game.

Can't wait for 2013. I've loved both DOTP so far.

But can they actually get the rules right this time around? Manual land tapping is great, but will there be an end step? Will sacrifice effects work on creatures with protection? Will "may" effects still be written as "must" effects? I could go on and on...

Can Bolas get killed off already? He's the shittiest villain ever. I wish they'd expand upon the interesting plotlines (new phyrexia's praetors, the Eldrazi) and stop dicking around with uninteresting twats like Jace and Bolas.

Wait, question for the people who read the novels and stuff.

What's up with Bolas?

How did he lose his old school planeswalking power? Or did everyone just depower after the rifts on Dominaria were fixed in Time Spiral?

If so, why did a bunch of other planeswalkers have to die as well?

Every oldwalker lost their immortality (and some other powers) after the mending; most of the other planeswalkers eventually died of old age or died sealing a rift.

Okay, so I was right about NPH booster boxes, but apparently I wasn't the only one. The LCS was sold out of those. Too slow. :(

So...wolf deck. I know I need huntmaster, and I know this deck is weak but I feel it has some real potential. Any suggestions?

Was talking to my friend who is convinced that there'll be a new planeswalker called "Dack Fayden" and that he'll be blue/red.

In which case I am excited because I've been thinking about doing a blue/red deck. I really want to find a use for Charmbreaker Devils in a standard constructed deck :(

mtgo on the ipad would be baller

If Wizards hasn't been furiously developing this for the past year or so they are the worst company ever.

Not that they have a particularly great track record with making digital stuff in a timely fashion. *glances at DnD Virtual Tabletop*

- Too many 1 mana spells, drop the prey upons
- Why only one Incinerate?
- Darkthicket is actually kind of lackluster
- Drop trepanation blades, it's really only good for limited
- Deck would lose steam very fast, and I think it's not as a strong as White Weenie.

Yeah, kind of figured. There just doesn't seem to be a way to really build around the wolfs at the moment. There could be a couple, like Young Wolk and Immerwolf...maybe, maybe even Kessig, but overall they're too weak.

You want a wolf deck right? Not werewolf?

If so then, yeah. There is no wolf tribe, you'd have to pretty much force it.

Yeah, werewolfs seem easier, but I wanted to play with my puppies deck. :(

It gets destroyed way, way too much...lol.

Cards you don't want to play in constructed:
Darkthicket Wolf
Trepanation Blade (this isn't good in limited either)
Kessig Wolf
Crushing Vines (maybe sideboard)
Young Wolf, the new green 1 drop werewolf is much better
Prey Upon (with the creatures you are playing you are going to 2for1 yourself with it nearly all of the time) More burn instead
You don't need 4 Wolf Runs as you don't care about multiples, run 2 or 3 instead.

Instead I'd go for more burn, 4 Moonmist, 4 drops (obviously Huntmaster if you can, but the Shaman and Instigator Gang are both good as well as 2-3 ofs). 4 Reckless Waif and Wolfbitten Captive instead of Young Wolf.
Also good equipment, unfortunately only Swords are really good for werewolves. Butcher's Cleaver is an OK budget option.

What? Everytime someone runs one in my group its frequently a game-ending card. Stick that bad boy on a flyer and its not unusual to swing for eight plus damage.

It is too random and can easily backfire. If you hit a land you've thinned their deck, or you could hit flashback cards and just give them card advantage. Not consistent at all. All cards with that many words on are either broken or not very good, this is definitely the latter.

Yeah, so bottom line, the deck is a holy mess (I knew that) and without stripping the wolf identity.

AVR better come with something wolfy, dammit!

It doesn't have any flip cards so I doubt it. I think it's going to be mostly angels demons and humans.

Yeah, but I want wolf wolfs not werewolfs.

On the inverse, by U/B zombies are tearing stuff up. Pretty happy with it, and it's a budget deck to boot!

It looks more like a spirit wolf thing. Given the rest of the set I'd think it would more spirits (the deck is G/U and blue already has loads) but I might be wrong.

Nah, it's not a spirit it just has a misty aura surrounding his body that looks almost exactly like the aura eminating from the werewolves being subdued by the angel in the AVR trailer.

There are most likely going to be 1-sided werewolves in AVR, especially considering the WW legend/pack leader is supposedly stuck in WW form anyway.

For reference to what I was talking about:

All I know is, Gravedigger + Mortarpod is such an ownage combo. I tried testing Skirsdag High Priest in the U/B Zombies deck and while it's easy to trigger morbid, I feel it slows downs the deck a bit by needing to keep 2 creatures untapped. This deck is more aggro so I rather constantly be swinging.

I keep going back and forth between Reckless Waif and Wolfbitten Captive for my 1-drop in my werewolf deck. My red has basically been reduced to splash for Huntmaster (only have one), Immerwolf and Daybreak Ranger's ability, so I'm using the captive at the moment.

It doesn't have any flip cards so I doubt it. I think it's going to be mostly angels demons and humans.

I'm betting on at least one no-flip G/R werewolf, since the tribe hasn't gotten a legendary yet.
Whoops, just saw Zethren's post. What he said.

Is it really worth splashing blue just for Diregraf Captain, especially with all that BBB? I've had a few geeky debates with a friend over that one.

Yes. Yes it is. I've never had that particular mana issue, and the quick bulk up is necessary with zombies, I've found. You have to hit hard, fast or you're stuck treading water.

Also, if Automaton doesn't come back in M13, I am so screwed. It's the center piece for like, 3 decks.

6 islands is overkill though, drop a few and put some evolving wilds in there, or more dual lands. I'd also drop automaton for Cemetary Reapers.

I'd drop a few islands for Evolving Wilds since you really only need 1 island.

If I ever really run into that issue, I'll check it out for sure, but generally I don't really like playing with cards that take an extra step to be more useful than something vanilla. I know many people like sac lands...I just never really saw the point. I'd rather just have the mana on board now, rather than next turn.

I agree with your sentiment on EW, but if you don't have access to more dual lands it might not be a bad idea.

What is the name of that obnoxious zombie enchantment that sacs non-zombies. I hate that fucking card. I don't think there's another card I dread more when playing zombies.
