If I ever really run into that issue, I'll check it out for sure, but generally I don't really like playing with cards that take an extra step to be more useful than something vanilla. I know many people like sac lands...I just never really saw the point. I'd rather just have the mana on board now, rather than next turn.

If you already have an island out, it's better to get the evolving wilds into a swamp then another island.

6 islands is overkill though, drop a few and put some evolving wilds in there, or more dual lands. I'd also drop automaton for Cemetery Reapers.

I'll play a couple rounds with EW/Cemetery Reapers. Honestly, the last one is basically the same thing, because the entire time I had Cemetery Reaper, I never wanted to use his ancillary ability.

-1 Bump in the Night, +1 Tribute to hunger/Geth's Verdict
-1 Disciple, +1 Altar's Reap. Really, the only creature you want to sacrifice is Gravedigger which is only a 1 toughness. I rather sac to draw two cards instead.
-1 Mikaeus, +1 Zombie Apocalypse
-2 Go for the Throat, +1 Geth's Verdict, +1 Doom Blade

I would also probably remove the Automations for some 2 drops like Walking Graves or something.
I'd also replace Blind Zealots for more zombies or kill cards.
Duo lands is a given. Until then, -4 Islands, +1 Swamp, +2 Evolving Wilds, +1 Shimmering Grotto.

I'll try Geth's for Zealot. That's a good idea!

I really wanted to have Zombie Apocalypse work, but it's too situational for the cost. On the other hand, Mikaeus is always useful. Sure, he's expensive, which is why I only have a couple. Also, I just like him. So....that one I'm just stubborn on.

I agree with your sentiment on EW, but if you don't have access to more dual lands it might not be a bad idea.

What is the name of that obnoxious zombie enchantment that sacs non-zombies. I hate that fucking card. I don't think there's another card I dread more when playing zombies.

You're thinking of Call to the Grave. 3BB enchantment.

Here's a Plansewalker deck I've made for fun. Pretty much threw all my PWs together lol. Any suggestions? Haven't worked on sidebord yet but i'll probably throw in some Celestial Purges, Tragic Slips, etc.

9 Creatures
4xDelver (want to switch them out for Doomtraveler to stall turns better, but no Seachrome Coast is making me stick with Delvers)
2xSnapcaster
1xPhyrexian Metamorph (over Phantasmal Image so I can equip Runechanter's Pike)
2xBladeSplicer (gives me 2 bodies, and if I have Venser, I could keep exiling her to pump golems at end of turn)

18 Spells
1xNegate
4xPonder
3xDay of Judgement
2xGitaxian Probe
2xMana Leak
3xVapor Snag
1xLife's Finale
1xTimely Reinforcements
1xOblivion Ring

2 Artifacts
2xRunechanter's Pike

7 Plansewalker
1xLiliana
1xVenser
1xElspeth
2xGideon
2xSorin

24 Lands
3xDarkslick Shores (would run a 4th one if I had it)
2xDrowned Catacombs
3xIsolated Chapels (would run a 4th one if I had it)
4xGlacial Fortress (would run Seachrome Coast if I had any :(
1xVault of the Archangel
1xMoorland Haunts
2xEvolving Wilds
4xPlains
3xIsland
1xSwamp

7 Tickets for the Cube draft is a bit crazy considering you don't keep what you draft.

Yeah, I don't get this one. I guess people will pay for the privilege of touching the power 9 or whatever. That's no longer a hobby...it's a tithe and a religion.

No thanks.

30 card decks.

Yeah what is this I don't even.

(I pressed concede match instead of concede game by mistake ;_;)

On the bright side I pulled Huntmaster. Hopefully I'll get to play him at least once. Playing R/G/B.

Friend bought a box of urza's legacy, we will be drafting it next week. Can't fucking wait. Foil grim monolith come to me.

After all that talk about avacyn I threw together a Iona EDH deck because I felt like being an asshole to my friends (and I need to use that foil Iona sometime). It's pretty brutal.

Confirmed for M13:

Does anyone here use a Delver deck/Can someone explain tempo to me? I have 4 delvers in my monoblue counter deck... take a look and bear in mind I built this completely out of cards that I had lying around and threw in 4 Delvers. As a counter deck it's effective but pretty slow. Any comments welcome, I plan on buying more cards to adjust this one:

4x Dreadship Reef
16x Island

4x Delver of Secrets
1x Jace Beleren
1x Denizen of the Deep
1x Arcanis the Omnipotent
2x Narcomeba
2x Thada Adel, Acquisitor
1x Wall of Air
1x Wall of Frost
1x Cursecatcher
1x Dormant Gomazoa
1x Serendib Sorcerer
2x Clone

3x Ponder (aren't these illegal in Standard tourney play?)
2x Mind Control
3x Twincast (might swap these for 3 more negates)
2x Treasure Hunt
2x Dispel
2x Essence Scatter
1x Telepathy
1x Negate
1x Savor the Moment
1x Mystic Speculation (Might add more of these... is this card's Scry ability legal opposed to Ponder's restricted state in tourneys?)
1x Traumatize
1x Disperse (might add 1 more of these)
1x Time Warp
1x Think Twice

Also picked up Dissipate last night in a booster, see some people are diggin that card. Just means that if the counter resolves you exile the card right? Kinda cool.

Honestly, it's hard to give advice when you aren't playing to a format (ie Standard, Modern).
Here's a breakdown of the different Delver decks in Standard right now.
By 'counter deck' I guess you mean control, which is typically blue/black or blue/black/white (Esper) and don't play any Delvers as they try to win through dropping a game ending big guy or planeswalkers.

Ponder is restricted in Vintage, and banned in Modern and Extended.

Of that list of cards, only Ponder, Negate and Think Twice are Standard legal, which format do you plan to play that deck in? Or is this just a casual deck?

Tempo basically means speed. When you play a turn 1 delver then flip it on turn 2, swinging for 3, that's good tempo. Compare with card advantage, which focuses on efficiency. Whenever you use a single card to achieve a net gain of two or more cards (such as with draw spells or sweepers like Wrath of God), that's considered card advantage.

In general:
Tempo = Aggro and Midrange decks
Card Advantage = Control and Combo decks

Thanks for that link. One of those decks is Delver Humans and has 4 Champion of the Parish which made me smile. My Human Token deck has 4 Champions, didn't realize how dope Champion and Delver could be.

Edit: And Haly, I want to play Standard, but none of the people I play with (friends) play that format. They just play an open format of whatever cards they have... however, I want to keep it as legal as possible. Is there a list somewhere I should be referring to?

No cards are banned in Standard right now. Legal cards are from Scars Block (Scars of Mirrodin, Mirrodin Besieged and New Phyrexia), Magic 2012 and Innistrad Block (Innistrad and Dark Ascension right now, soon to include Avacyn Restored). The physical cards doesn't have to be from these sets as long as it was reprinted.

Oh... Only those 6 and soon to be 7? Okay. When do they rotate sets out? Is there a cap?

I pimped out my EDH deck this weekend at PAX. Nearly my entire standard binder was traded up for revised duals/shocklands/gaea's cradle/goblin settler/force, etc....

I'll post pics of it later today. I'm happy about this xD

(of course, now the deck is a $1200+ theft liability, but whatever.)

They rotate blocks every year. 2012 and the Scars block will both rotate out at the end of this year, and Innistrad block will rotate out at the end of 2013 (as will this summer's core set).

Note that many of the 2012 cards will be reprinted in 2013, so they'll stay legal. We'll probably get a few Scars cards in 2013/2014 as well; your OOP versions of those cards will stay standard legal.

I see. Damn, I guess in a way I'm glad my friends don't play Standard.

Yeah, you'll be a lot happier about that play environment when you've got a good chunk of cards which aren't legal in standard =]

Another benefit - once you have a couple standard decks as well as a couple modern decks, you might be able to convince your friends to meet your standard decks on an even playing field. When my friends are over for our little "Magic" day, we cycle through many formats, as we all have different sorts of decks we'd like to try against something built under the same constraints.

Still trying to get somebody else to build a prismatic deck. My prismatic human deck is boss.

The Magic panel at PAX is happening right now and theynare showing AVR stuff. They have a live blog: http://www.wizards.com/Magic/Magazine/Article.aspx?x=mtg/daily/eventcoverage/paxeast12/welcome

-new Mechanic soulbond - when creature enters the battlefield you may pair it with another and they both get buffed as long as they are both under your control. The card they showed gave both creatures doublestrike.
- Undying returns
- three flights of angels each with a legendary leader.

What the hell is up with Falkenrath Aristocrat? That's gotta be the worst Mythic possibly ever. Just drafted that POS.

The
Miracle
mechanic seems like it could break really easily. We'll see how its handled.

EDIT: Avacyn has three flights, each has a legendary leader, and one of the ones previewed gost like 4GWW. So I'm assuming there are four legendary angels: Avacyn and three in G/W, U/W and R/W

What spoiled cards? :O

Thunderous Wrath - 4RR, Instant, Thunderous Wrath deals 5 damage to target creature or player. Miracle R (You may cast this card for its Miracle cost when you draw it if it's the first card you drew this turn)

Sigarda, Host of Herons - 2GWW - Flying, Hexproof, 5/5, spells and abilities your opponents control can't cause you to sacrifice permanents

Restoration Angel - 3W, Flash, Flying, 3/4, When Restoration Angel enters the battlefield, you may exile target non-angel creature you control then return that creature to the battlefield under your control.

Silverblade Paladin - 1WW, 2/2, Soulbond (You may pair this creature with another unpaired creature when either enters the battlefield. They remain paired as long as you control both of them). As long as Silverblade Paladin is paired with another creature, both creatures have double strike.

Demonlord of Ashmouth - 2BB, Flying, Undying, 5/4, when enters the battlefield, exile it unless you sacrifice a creature.

There are also Miracle cards that let you play them for cheap when you draw them if they are the first card you drew that turn. Like a 5 damage bolt for R when you draw it.

That seems weird from a rules perspective. Or at least from an enforcing the rules perspective.
