Is there something I'm missing? Why did you get so many? Do you think it's going to explode in price?

Go sleeve and proxy up an Omniscience/Enter the Infinite deck.

Now imagine what'd happen if more simic/gruul ramp was printed.

It has the potential to be a ridiculous deck, and even though it's unlikely to win GPs or become dominant, it will always be a fun Johnny combo and popular at FNM.

Omni will be at least $5, and if the deck wins a major event, it'll be 20+.

Is it a viable deck though? I'm assuming for legacy or something?

Edit: Ah, see what you're saying. Still seems like a huge gamble for that many cards is all. :P

Well, like kirblar said, it's not exactly going down, and I'm selling to recoup my costs the second the first price spike happens. It's not really a gamble.

I did well ordering 50 0.12 runechanter's pikes!

:lol Did runechanter's pike ever jump? Was it at release or something? I never saw that over a buck or two but I was late to innistrad since I was out of the country.

I'd include Laboratory Maniac and Think Twice for fun.

New Planeswalker is interesting.
That blue card though is hilariously awesome in a "will never be used ever" kind of way. Draw your whole deck and you have no max hand size for a turn? Fucking beautiful.

Aurelia and Borborygomos are both pretty nasty. Definite limited bombs, could see a feasible deck built around Borbor with the land discard thing being abused.

I realize im late as hell on these but I just now saw them.

I think the new PW will go really well in my upcoming G/R or Naya colored Aggro Thrag deck that I've been thinking about forever. 1. because I want to build a deck that references Global Guts and 2. because I want to see if it will really work. I have a friend who thinks he's terrible, but I think he'll be decent in a scheme that can maximize his +1

Blue card annoys me. Another stupidly timmy card that involves 0 thought and is just a target for cheat-stuff cards (Dream Halls, Hideaways, etc.). You used to have to work a hell of a lot harder to draw your whole deck. Waiting for the card that reads {15UUUUU}: you win the game. Ugh, I really hate these effects for EDH. And I can't even say "at least this won't affect competitive play" because... see Emrakul, Omniscience, Griselbrand...

Borborygmos is cool, although at 8 mana he's too expensive to be that relevant an EDH general. Would have been nice to make him 7 mana and through RG players a bone, because RG doesn't have a very good general selection for an allied color pair.

Love Aurelia, fantastic build-around general for RW which is the weakest color pair in EDH by a lot.

Little bit OT, but figured you guys would know best: I occasionally like drafting in MTGO, but is their any other way to acquire the tickets besides paying $14-18 each time (or winning haha) I feel like playing?

What's strange about Borbor's mana cost is that all the other guild leaders either cost 4 or 6.

Just selling packs & cards to bots.

He's the only 3CC planeswalker that generates pure CA (albeit very slowly) with his +1.

Okay, say I use an oblivion ring on a creature that has a piece of equipment attached to it. The creature is now exiled, is the ring stuck on it? Is it able to be unequipped? Is it just detached when the creature is exiled?

An equipped creature getting exiled works the same way it does for any other way the creature can leave the battlefield (dying, returned to hand). So the equipment remains on the battlefield unattached.

How do you guys handle trade ethics?

I made a trade this afternoon

My: Hallowed Fountain, Detention Sphere, Supreme Verdict
For: 2x Thalia, 2x Hellrider (1 Foil), Clifftop Retreat, Mayor of Averbruk

He asked me how much Hellrider was, and I told him that it was a 2 dollar card, which is honestly what I thought it was. I come home, and learn its actually a 6-8 dollar card, which skews this trade towards me in ridiculous fashion. I feel shitty about lying to the kid and ripping him off. Should I have gone back and told him to take something else out of my binder? Or should I stop worrying and realize that its his responsibility to know the value of his cards?

It was an honest mistake, so you shouldn't feel too bad about it. If you really want to clear your conscience, give him something else from your binder, but otherwise just leave it if he doesn't care.

Yeah I wouldn't feel too bad about that one, it's not like you were intentionally trying to rip them off. It wouldn't be a bad thing to offer something to match things up after the fact if you feel the need to, but otherwise you're fine.

I tend to avoid trading in general though. I hate the bartering and counterbartering, having to worry about what you have on you and the mind games to get some tiny advantage. It's got it's place, but my heart is in the game, not the binders.

Well, if you see the guy often, then yes, you should offer him more cards since you don't want it to be awkward.

If he was just some dude that you've never seen before, then it was his fault for accepting the trade.

You made the error in good faith. It's fine. He should have known better too.

You think that's bad? I just came home from a GP grinder and looked into my deckbox and saw a Thundermaw Hellkite that wasn't mine.

Ugh......

Hello fellow Magic Players. :D I was wondering how I would ask for help on this thread. Do I just go ahead and post my deck here and ask for suggestions, or is there some type of form I need to follow? Thanks for your time.

Just post your deck, but tell us what your looking to do with it/ what format you want to play it in/ what your reasonable budget is

No rules, but it would be nice to know what your goals are. Kitchen table, FNM, tournaments, etc.

There's really no post etiquette to follow; if you have a deck you want advice for, just post it (qualifiers are good though, eg how much money you'd be willing to spend, how competitive you are, etc.)

Welcome! :3

EDIT: Sartath'd. Twice.

Just picked up Sarkhan Vol, Bladewing, and a Treva for my EDH deck, it's coming along so well I'm looking forward to trying these out!

I started playing Magic for about 3 months. I started playing because all my friends were and it seemed really fun. [Which it is. :D] I started buying cards and packs when RTR started. So, I decided to build several decks and I'm focusing on three right now. The one I'm really focusing on right now is my Selesnya Deck. Here is what it contains

Artifacts
Tablet of the Guilds x1
Selesnya Keyrune x2

Creatures
Palisade Giant x1
Elderscale Wurm x1
Gatecreeper Vine x2
Centaur's Herald x 3
Trostani, Selesnya's Voice x1
Vitu-Ghazi Guildmage x2
Wayfaring Temple x3
Dryad Militant x2

Enchantments
Cathars' Crusade x1
Collective Belssing x1
Growing Ranks x2

Instants
Fog x2
Druid's Deliverance x4
Heroes' Reunion x1
Selesnya Charm x4

Lands
Grove of the Guardian x2
Selesnya Guildgate x2
Forest x8
Plains x8

Sorcery

Ranger's Path x1
Courser's Accord x2
Call of the Conclave x4

I would really like to compete in FNM tournaments. I attended one [but did not compete] today at my local card shop and it looked really fun. Everyone was having a blast. As for budget, ehh, it depends. My friends and I just kinda give each other cards if we need them, but for now, lets say it's low. I also want to say this deck is legal, but I don't know. I would just like my deck to be able to compete. That would be awesome. Thank you to everyone that helps me out on this. I appreciate it a lot

Edit: I also use Cockatrice to test my decks out. Don't know if this information is important or not.

I thought it was still a 2 buck card too. I didnt know it jumped.

A few notes:

20 lands is way too few. A good rule of thumb is 24 lands in a 60 card deck; for now, I highly suggest you always run 24 until you have a better feel for the game and understand what kinds of decks want to run less or more.

Tablet of the Guilds and Fog are both considered "bad" to "terrible" to experienced players. It's important that each card you play advances your board state and moves you closer to victory. Both of those cards only stall the game; they don't actually get you there. Instead, try running four Centaur Healers - they'll provide a little lifegain while giving you a relevant creature at the same time.

If you want to play a lot of FNM, you need to invest in some better lands. I know it seems like throwing away money, but trust me - you'll throw away more money entering tournaments with decks that have terrible manabases. Get a set of four Sunpetal Groves; your deck will be a million times better. Four Temple Gardens would be good too if you can afford it. No sense running sweet spells if you can't actually cast them!

There are loads of other suggestions I could make, but try making these changes first

Take out tablet of the guilds. Cards that only gain life with no other purpose should not be in decks. There can be reasons to use life gain cards when used with other things, but alone they are not good and should be a different card. Like Centaur Healer. You get the life, AND a 3/3 creature.

Well, FNM would probably require a significant upgrade to be competitive. Nothing really crazy unless you want to win 1st place regularly, but it would require some cash layout (or trading, if you're into that). Selesnya aggro decks exist and are reasonably competitive, but at a minimum, you would want:

4x Thalia, Guardian of Thraben
4x Avacyn's Pilgrim
4x Silverblade Paladin
2-4x Loxodon Smiter
2-4x Wolfir Silverheart
2-4x Rancor

and a better mana base. Among these cards, the Silverblades are a significant expense, because a playset will set you back about $36 if you buy cheaply online (and somewhat more if you buy from your local store). They're probably the only reason GW can compete as a deck, though, so they're basically the core of the deck, along with Avacyn's Pilgrim, a mana dork that's a common and thus pretty easy to get a hold of. Rancor is an uncommon, but it's $3 because of how in-demand it is. It has an amazing synergy with Silverblade.

The Thalias are a few bucks each, and also pretty necessary. Smiters and Wolfir are also a few bucks each, but you could probably skate by without full playsets for budget reasons.

You also need to look into deckbuilding basics. You're running only 20 lands now, and that's too few. A competitive Selesnya aggro deck is going to run 4-6 mana dorks (4 Avacyn's Pilgrim + some number of Arbor Elf) and still run 22+ lands. For your mana base, ideally you would have 4x Sunpetal Grove and 4x Temple Garden. The Gardens are still pretty pricey, so you may decide to stick to just 4x Sunpetal in the beginning, but you really can't go lower than that. You need reliable access to G on turn 1, GW on turn 2, and GWW on turn 3.

So yeah, FNM is a bit of an expense if you want to have a reasonably competitive deck. It's possible to build a more budget version of GW built around populate, which can probably win a game here and there. I would imagine it would have a core like this:

4x Avacyn's Pilgrim
4x Call of the Conclave
3-4x Selesnya Charm
2x Grove of the Guardian
2x Trostani
and 0 Fogs/Druid's Deliverance, fogs aren't good in this deck. There's a bad turbofog deck you can make in Standard, but even that would need one more color at a minimum.

...Eh, I don't know though. The more I think about it, the more Populate.dec strikes me as fun for kitchen table magic (it's also great in EDH!), but just... bad otherwise. It has all the weaknesses of GW - it's just a pile of dudes, has 0 reach, and gets pulverized by sweepers. At the same time, it lacks the strengths, which right now is basically the explosive power of Silverblade + Rancor and the ramp into this provided by Pilgrim (beautiful curve: T1 Pilgrim, T2 Silverblade, T3 Rancor & swing for 10). The main thing is, it doesn't do anything very powerful, it just sorta durdles along making 3/3 centaurs.
