Vendetta, Reanimate for 1CC and... what is going on with that first ability?

edit: Oh, it's Rescue + Rescue all enchantments you put on it. So, basically, it's for Zur decks.

I like Merciless Eviction. I feel like the flexibility for those matches where creatures don't actually matter and that fact that it exiles probably makes it worth it in the right deck.

All the charm art in this set looks kind of goofy. Weird since they are all by the same artist.

What kind of legacy deck does GAF think I should start building? I want to do something besides EDH but standard and modern don't appeal to me as the prices are much more unstable. My budget is kind of limited to ~1000 in trade so automatically about half of the well performing decks are out of the question.

Right now I'm leaning towards D&T which is near the high end of my budget. Only problem there is Karakas is sooooooo fucking hard to find and I need 4.

After that Dredge has always been a personal favorite and it still seems doable despite so much GY hate being printed in the past couple years. It's also somewhat cheap to very cheap depending on if I go LEDless (which I'd prefer not to do).

If you're looking to invest in a deck I'd recommend T.E.S.. Basically it's a pile of the most powerful (but not the most bank breaking) cards in Legacy thrown together and I really can't see it going down in value. At the worst you have the start of several other good decks. The deck is very technical to play and is pretty messed up when it goes of so I wouldn't recommend it if you enjoy things like fairness or player interaction. Here's the latest decklist.

High Tide without Calabras is cheap as well.

Mainly either tribal single color aggro or combo are the cheap ones.

So look into elves, goblins, merfold, high tide, dredge, Tendrils.

Those are generally speaking cheaper to build.

Ya I'm probably going to focus on getting a playset of LEDs to keep my options open. Never was much a fan of tribal even though Elves is doing awesome lately for how cheap it is to build.

Ever since hexproof started showing up more I've said it was worse for the game, even though I've been enjoying the hell out of Bant Auras.

It was fine in green since they deserve it on their creatures but blue has no business in having it.

Green = hexproof
Blue = shroud

How it should have been.

Also that land is awesome. At least for EDH. Will be able to get rid of a lot of stupid legendary lands.

Seems like the money rare well has dried up for GC. I wonder how the next set is going to compare without the shocks holding up the value.

Was excited when I thought about Dark Depths and Thespian's Stage but then I remembered state based actions bypass the stack so no go.

EDIT: Yes you would have a copy of Dark Depths with no counters on it but it would be put in the graveyard before you had a chance to check the counters and sacrifice it. Thus the no go.

Well that's assuming it survives the legend rule, I think that may be checked first.

Utility lands and lands that produce more than one mana seem like prime targets for copying.

Spending your land drop for the turn and 2 mana just to get access to a bounce land seems kinda bad.

I think this is more for copying the crazier manlands and utility lands in eternal formats then for making a mana source.

LED's are a solid choice, used in various combo decks so you've got versatility. Elves is a fine choice, aside from Gaea's Cradle it's one of the cheapest competitive decks around if you enjoy it.

There was a thread on The Source (the main Legacy-focused forum) last month on the cheapest legit decks for the format, that compiled recent decklists and sorted by cost. There's some solid options there that you could also check out.

Funny, I've been doing the opposite and been getting out of Legacy over the past year and a half and instead doing EDH almost entirely.

I wouldn't recommend buying into Legacy unless you have an interesting local scene (not once in a blue moon SCG). By interesting I mean more than just Brainstorm deck X, Brainstorm deck Y & Brainstorm deck Z.

None of the "cheap" decks are truly that cheap anymore, except the ones that now suck. LEDless dredge is pretty bad right now because of Faithless Looting, and because Dredge needs to be at highest speed possible to deal with RIP/Deathrite Shaman ripping Dredge a new one all day. D&T isn't cheap because Karakas/Port/Wasteland (only one of which translates as a 4of to other decks) and it's a deck that's very fun but only if you're not playing in a super developed Brainstorm.dec meta where it won't really be that competitive. The cheapest good deck right now is probably Goblins because all you need is 4x Wasteland (which you need period if you're playing Legacy) and 4x Caverns, and you can probably skip the ports just fine. You also don't really need to splash and can ditch all the fetches/duals. Goblins is also a solid and powerful choice for UW & BUG infested metas but obviously kind of sucks against combo.

I bought into the Force/Wasteland shell because I need it for competitive play and it's way easier to borrow just Goyf/Duals/Ons fetches.

If I were to get into it now that's what I would do, maybe adding in a few blue duals as needed, unless there's a legit local scene. Shit's expensive. As it stands I'm the guy you borrow from.

Molten Primordial {5RR}
Creature - Avatar

Haste
When Molten Primordial enters the battlefield, for each opponent, take control of up to one target creature that player controls until the end of turn. Untap those creatures. They have haste until the end of turn.

Well, I guess I'm one step closer to having a Bringer of the Red Dawn that's playable in my Ashling EDH deck.

They should have stuck with the uncounterable cycle, these Primordials are awful.

Couldn't agree more. Also, I really don't like EDH-centric cards in a normal set like this. What good is that card going to do me in a draft?

That blue card though... nice.

So, those cheap R2R packs... Since they appear to be loose, what are the chances they're from boxes that have already been gutted of most of the good stuff?

I hear good things about that site.
Looks like I would be able to get half a box (18 boosters) of GTC for $60 with that deal.

I am not sure if I should get half a booster box or all 5 guild theme decks. My price cap is $60.

Anyone know a good place to get some playmats? Online. So far the biggest variety ive seen is on ebay, but they are asking like $12 to ship.

Got this from MTGsalvation:

From SCG's FB page.

1R
Creature - Human Soldier
Battalion - Target Creature can't block this turn
2/1
Uncommon

Cant access FB at work so no car pic :( sorry.

RTR has not been mapped, so zero.

EDIT: wait, no, I'm wrong. It has been mapped, so it's YMMV.

Mapping cracks me up.
That is why every time my shop opens a box, I will buy a pack and completely mix the box up every single time.

Have there been any Meta cards that use rules outside the game? Obviously it wouldn't be tournament elegable, but something cool like a:

2/2 'god like' knight card that has every passive ability possible to make him untouchable or with an ability that almost guarantees the owner wins in a matter of turns, but successfully wining with that card in play means your opponent now own that card.

Yes.
