There's obviously Primeval Titan. :)

And are NOT $43 mythic rares punk! :P Maybe a sylvan ranger with going to my hand will be ok... I just want cards that get my wurms out asap.

Right now I have:
4x Pelakka Wurm
1x Engulfing Slagwurm
2x Duskdale Wurm
4x Savage Silhouette
4x Quilled Slagwurm
4x Viridian Emissary
4x Llanowar Elves
2x Ondu Giant
1x Green sun zenith
3x Tangle Mantis
1x greenweaver druid
1x Protean Hydra
2x Canopy Cover
1x Might of the Masses
1x Creeping corrosion
2x Nature's Spiral

Some like greenweaver and duskdale I'm just waiting to pull extra copies. I don't know what else I should change/add. I've been looking over spoilers for a couple days now trying to tweak.

Also, I believe you're in LA right? Buy your cards from Frank and Sons, the prices there are ridiculous and probably the cheapest in the country.

Dude. You are some kind of amazing.

You can also look into Joraga Treespeaker, Overgrown Battlement, Copper Myr, or even Lotus Cobra if you want to spend a bit of money. These all produce mana, but don't deal with lands.

Concerning planeswalkers. My buddy has a green one that fucks my shit up every time. I need a white/blue/black one that isn't A) way too expensive or B) embarrassingly bad. Any suggestions?

Venser.

White:
Ajani Goldmane - Great for lifegain deck $3-$6
Elspeth Tirel - More lifegain, it's "epic" ability is easy to afford and in the right deck can own face $12-$16
Elspeth, Knight Errant - Epic ability is amazing but takes a while. Has two + abilities though. $9-$12

Black:
Lilliana Vess - Great for discard deck and it's middle ability is a useful fetch ability. $4-$6
Sorin Markov - Expensive to cast, but can is vicious when he gets out. Direct damage, the ability to drop your opponent to 10 life immediately, and then a mindslaver ability for his epic. $10-13$

Blue:
Cheap Jace is ..ehh, Tezzeret the original is so so but I am not a fan. New Tezzeret is expensive but you may get lucky and pull one from a booster. I opened a box the other day and pulled three tezzerets.

Thanks! I'll check it out. We almost came to blows over his green planeswalker dude. Shit is overpowered, if you ask me. Now I need my own hax. Leaning toward Sorin

Treespeakers are fantastic, Birds of Paradise also but for you Treespeakers are the way to go.
Throw in an Elven Archdruid or two if you can get them and you are set.

Is Garruk the green one he uses?

I do love me some Garruk, though I love Nissa since I have played elves since Beta long long long before Elves were good.

If you are playing black, look for a Vampire hexmage. It's an uncommon from Zendikar and costs two to play. It's a 2/1 with first strike and if you sacrifice it you remove all counters from a permanent. Basically you just sacrifice him to remove all counters from your opponents planes walker with kills him immediately.
Also with white, look for a Oblivion Ring. It will let you remove his planeswalker from the game (exile).

Basically cards that say destroy/remove "permanent" rather than creature.

I hate you...

I was thinking of starting to get some cards to build a Type 1 deck (for fun, not tournament grade) and was looking at dual lands and had a few questions.

Is eBay the best place to buy from? There are a few playsets (looking at Bayous ($140+) or Underground Seas ($325+) and just wanted to make sure that those prices are what is to be expected.

Thanks for any help.

Ratchet Bomb, Terestedon, Hexmage, and Steel Hellkite are all good for dealing with Walkers

My friend who is heavily into trading uses ebay sometimes but mostly goes to websites dedicated to MTG. I believe http://www.magictraders.com/ is one of them. He may also use MTGsalvation.com's forums. They tend to get slightly lower prices than ebay according to him.

But yeah, just don't buy them from a store, online or off. You are paying a huge premium if you do.

Heh, I actually wanted to make an elf deck originally but had to buy too many cards. Elven archdruid is sweet, they're like $12 IIRC right? Maybe I should buy a box...

If it is just casual, Elspeth, Knight-Errant is the second best planeswalker printed. If your deck can reliably produce double white, she's so good. Extremely difficult to kill.

Depends on which store you buy from. There are some out there that are both extremely reliable, fast, and have very competitive prices. There are others (like Star City Games) that just have everything and you don't have to hunt and peck your deck together.

Ebay is the slowest to get your cards, but I would seriously recommend going there for high value Eternal staples or extended/standard chase rares and mythics. The price savings can be substantial. One trick on ebay is to get auctions of pairs or threes, as playsets and singles demand a premium.

Yeah. And, siddx, thanks for the tips. I'm going to go check out Frank and Son's this week.

Don (the hippie dude) has the best prices (but lowest inventory), Shuffle and Cut seems to only buy nowadays, but the other dealers all have pretty fair prices. There's also another dude that popped up a couple years ago in the main hallway away from the MtG section that has pretty solid prices. Anyways, just shop around.

Around $5 high, but you can usually get off of ebay for 3 or under.
So good.

Man, I have great memories of Ravnica standard. Shock lands were the most expensive cards at $20 and there was such a variety of playable decks (Fungus Fire, USA Annex, BW House Guard, Searing Meditation, Rakdos, Gruul, Zoo, BUG, Izzetron, Magnivore, Sea Stompy, etc...). Those were the days.

lots of decks were fucking expensive then though, because they had tons of rares in them though and the shocklands were a big hit. certainly not as bad as today, but it was a low point (in a bad way) when it comes to prices in the pre-mythic era.

That was an incredible time for me as well. There were so many viable (and varied) decks, and most were actually fun. The summer of Kamigawa-Ravnica (before Kami rotated) was easily my favorite Standard season ever, it was so much fun to play.

Those event decks don't come out until friday apparently. Are they really supposed to be $25 each? That's damn pricey.

Your best bet honestly is Ebay for singles.
The MTG Salvation forums has a good sales and trade area too where you can get some good prices.

Eh, don't really care for ebay. They're not too pricey on sites, just sucks having to pay for shipping. Most cards I want are under $1 so it's like as much in shipping as cards.

Ebay has been good to me, though I am growing wary of foils on ebay just because I have started to learn how easy they are to fake.
Channelfireball.com and tcgplayer.com are good sites for information and sometimes to catch good deals on cards.
Other people are the best way to go.

Hell, we can turn this into BST lol

My favorite Standard season was Saga-Masques-6th Edition. You had all kinds of archetypes going head to head - green stompy, monoblack Napster, Ponza, Gaea's Cradle decks, Rebels, Accelerated Blue, monoblue draw-go, Sabre Bargain.... it was incredible. I miss it.

This Thursday, a local shop is holding a 10-proxy Vintage tournament for the first time. I'm very excited, and I think I might be able to pull off a decent deck, so I hope enough people show up to make it a regular thing. Here's the list I'm using, based off of a Stephen Menendian list from 2008:

4 Land Tax
4 Scroll Rack
4 Ethersworn Canonist
4 Enlightened Tutor
3 Aven Mindcensor
3 Aura of Silence
2 Silence (or Orim's Chant if I can find them)
2 Abeyance
1 Seal of Cleansing
1 Crucible of Worlds
1 Trinisphere
1 Isochron Scepter
3 Swords to Plowshares
1 Eternal Dragon
2 Argivian Find

4 Mox Diamond
1 Mox Pearl
1 Mox Sapphire
1 Sol Ring
1 Black Lotus
4 Wasteland
1 Strip Mine
11 Plains

Sideboard: (work in progress)
1 Moat
1/2 Argivian Find
1 Aven Mindcensor
2 Silence/Orim's Chant
2 Abeyance
2 Rule of Law
1 Swords to Plowshares
1 Wheel of Sun and Moon
3 Tormod's Crypt or Relic of Progenitus
1 Wrath of God?

More sideboard ideas would be welcome, or if you can suggest a way to improve the maindeck, I'd like to hear it

If you want, I can send you 3 Duskdale Wurms, just be aware they won't make it before Friday. Just send me a pm with an address you want me to ship them to.

That would be awesome. Give me to the weekend in case anyone at FNM has any, they're usually pretty good about giving commons/uncommons as long as they have them on them.

The store that I go to for biweekly Legacy just posted on Facebook that it is moving to Weekly events. It had been alternating Legacy and Extended, but with Extended season ending we are moving to full Legacy as we move closer to the GP (the store is in Norwich, CT, so none of us have an excuse to not go to the Providence GP in May). Hurray.

Duskdale wurm is in M2011 right? I've bought around 14 packs over the past two days and have literally got 0 duskdale wurms. I've got 4 mythics but no duskdale... And no wonder borders is going out of business I had to pay $4.80 for a pack...

Yeah, it's 2011. I was looking at a Fat Pack at Borders, but it was marked 42, not really going to pay that.

I'm getting ready to make a W Knight Deck, but can't think of anything to use for acceleration, going to end up putting some Golden Myrs in just to help anyone have any other suggestions? (Trying to stick to Type 2 now, but am open for anything as it will mainly be just friends)

MBS will be available for drafting on MODO after tonight's patch...can't wait to start grinding again. :)

Yeah, I wanted to do a Sealed Swiss tonight, but instead out with the wife :(

The draft queues are SOM SOM MBS right?

Nah, it's changed going forward, it will be MBS SOM SOM.

Ice Age? noooo, Ice Age was a pretty lackluster set and the cards are pretty cheap. Buying an actual booster box is even possible for not too much (we bought two and drafted with friends). Everything from the Dark to Alliances is mostly garbage with very few exceptions.
Ice Age really isn't as bad as the rest of that chain. For Mishra's sake, Fallen Empires is in there.

Played Junk tonight in Legacy, went 2-0-1. Got the bye first round, second round I played vs Belcher and destroyed him, third round I drew for 1st/2nd and got 6 packs (entry is $5). From them, I pulled a Mirran Crusader, Blightsteel Colossus, and Green Sun's Zenith. Plus I got some Extended practice in for the PTQ on saturday. Successful night.

Knight of the White Orchid is perfect for you. It's acceleration in white, and it happens to be a knight. It was in Shards block though, so it's not Standard legal, but it would be Extended legal. I used that in my White Weenie deck last year. It's perfect when you're on the draw, and it's not a dead draw late game.
