Beast Within is soooooo good for an uncommon. One green and two colorless to destroy any permanent? Fuck your planeswalker. Despise is quite good too.
New sword is kind of disappointing though.

Vorinclex, he is already in my EDH deck. A Mayael-able mana reflection is fucking awesome. Woot! So will Jin-Gitaxias, but thats for my Niv Deck.

EDIT: Nevermind, I thought the red Chancellor granted Haste. He would have been ridiculous if that was the case. Some combo with him and Urabrask would be interesting, though.

The high casting costs of many of the set's bombs clearly indicate that Wizards wants to slow the game down. Not entirely sure how successful they'll be, but it's interesting nonetheless.

I'm also calling $2 mythic on the Etched Monstrosity. Nothing really mythic about him.

Stuck at work and wanting o read this Godbook sooo bad! The leaked cards are CRAZY. WotC are really trying to flip the game on its head. I'm really glad I bought two boxes of this set. Im most excited about what new deck archetypes will come of this.

I need Melira and Vorinclex. Other than that and the black Praetor, there isn't anything that I have to have. Holy jebus on that that art though. Amazing.

I'm going to need 4 of those Myr Superion. And I'm really liking Caged Sun. Will definitely have to find a place for some of those. Darksteel Relic will work nicely in my Metalcraft deck.

Etched Monstrosity will indeed likely be a junk mythic, unless someone comes up with a good combo. He will fucking rock in type 4 though.

Noxious Revival is ridiculous. Sure, you have to recast the creature again, but the opponent is like "Finally, got rid of that guy." Then you're like, "lolnope"

The pay 2 life or one mana mechanic has some very very interesting possibilities for legacy. Legacy tends to be a format that doesn't give a shit about life and is more interested in getting the right cards out for a combo or a quick win. Being able to play cards for cheap or free in exchange for life could be very useful.

Mindcrank could be interesting. Decking decks haven't been competitive in...uh ever for the most part. This might make for an interesting red/blue/black deck.

holy SHIT, Myr Superion is fucking epic. Going right in my ramp deck and is coming out to smash face as a 5/6 on turn two. It was made to work hand in hand in loving harmony with Treespeakers.

I'm confused about Omen Machine. So do I exile all cards except for lands or am I able to cast them?

At the beginning of your draw step, instead of drawing a card, you would exile the top card. If it's a land, you put it into play. If it's a non land you can chose to play it for free or leave it exiled. And your opponent does the same.

edit: i'm mistaken, you HAVE to play it, you can't chose to leave it exiled. But yeah, you get to play it for free. So it's a way to possibly get big creatures like eldrazi out for free.

It has some interesting possibilities for screwing with control decks by forcing them to play cards they'd otherwise hang on to like counterspells. A little too expensive though.

Just got into magic. What do you guys think of my newest list. It's an infect deck using some of the spoiled cards.

16 Forest
2 Pendelhaven
2 Inkmoth Nexus

4 Elvish Spirit Guide
4 Gitaxian Probe

4 Invigorate
4 Berserk
4 Vines of Vastwood
4 Might of Old Krosa
2 Groundswell

4 Glistener Elf
4 Ichorclaw Myr
4 Necropede
2 Blight Mamba

Any criticisms? Any suggestions?

Torpor Orb is, like, anti-traveler the card. All my EDH decks revolve ETB effects- hell, Kiki-Jiki is my main general. I was really hoping we'd get a Rings of Brightheart esque artifact for triggered abilities, not a Linvala.

Ah well, at least red can deal with artifacts. Besides, so much other stuff to look at!
-Jor Kadeen is the WR equipment centric general I've been looking for.
-Jin-Gitaxis is overkill to the extreme, but for 10 mana, I suppose he better be.
-Green gets an instant speed vindicate with a completely negligible drawback?!?!? Holy crap! That might be the best card of the set for me right there.
-Melira is a potent hoser who's, interestingly enough, probably at her best in a limited infect deck as a way to shutdown your mirror match, as much as that seems at odds with the lore behind the card. Way too niche for edh. (Although the -1/-1 prevention could be useful.)
-War and Peace has, perhaps, the best protections of all the swords but that ability is just so lackluster. Kinda disappointed there.

The sword protection colors are great, but the effect is terrible. Its really unfortunate that they felt the need to underpower it just because it gave Pro W/R.

Oh wow. That's intense. Alot of what I'm seeing is WotC trying to slow the game down some. Also caged sun + omath = ultimate ramp

What's the ability of the new sword?
Equipped creature gets +2/+2 and has protection from red and white.

Whenever equipped creature deals combat damage to a player, Sword of War and Peace deals damage to that player equal to the number of cards in his or her hand and you gain 1 life for each card in your hand.

Zaraki_Kenpachi said:
Ya, that's a shit ability for dealing damage. Dispatch is such an overpowered card too.
I'm thinking it might make a killer combo with blue sun zenith and spell that gives you no maximum hand size.

I don't know you could build a combo for it but it seems like so much effort to get the sword to do anything compared to the other 2 swords.

Alright, I just ordered a complete playset of NPH's uncommons/commons off eBay. Tossing the idea of buying a box, I'll just open whatever packs I get at the pre-release/release parties. Appears as though a lot of this set's power is in the uncommons, which I really like.

I figure I save money and a lot of extra junk by going this route and just buying single rares/mythics with the money I've saved not buying a box. I could probably afford Karn, each of the Praetors, my cherished Obliterator (which, especially after looking at the spoiler, is among the set's weaker offerings - people paying $80 for playsets is funny to me), and a handful of rares for about the same price as the box. It'll be great not having junk rares sitting around; my only real concern is getting a playset of Surgical Extraction or other money rares, but they typically go down once they've been battle-tested, with a handful of proven cards keeping value for a bit.

I can't wait for this set to come out.

Takuan, I wish I could have as much money laying around as you do for this :P
(Although I will buy a fat box at least or maybe two plus going in the prerelease will net me 3+ boosters also).

Well, it helps that I've been working full-time for a while - and actually, what I've done is a cost-saving measure. I'll probably go about things this way from now on - the commons/uncommons playset is only $34US shipped to Canada, which is less than the cost of a fat pack here. I'll have to wait a bit, but I'm patient.

After much flip-flopping, I've decided against buying packs of NPH aside from the pre-release and drafts. While there's nothing quite like drawing a chase mythic from a pack, more often than not it'll be a jank rare/mythic. Having bought the C/U playset, it just wouldn't be economical to buy packs.

Looks like shit is going down with Wizards trying to catch whoever let NPH leak so early and so completely. They must be pissed.

Hm, that price is awesome. I have spent more on "expensive" UC-s from M11/MB/SM already -.-"

I do not think so. Leaks happen all the time, and this document is dated to january 2011. There is two weeks until prerelease comes kicking in, preview will happen anyway on official Wizards. If anything, this will hype up this set more, cause it looks AWESOME.

Buy from this guy. He has a good enough track record for the amount of transactions he's done, and he's only charging $29.94 shipped anywhere in the states. I'm seeing the exact same thing from other sellers going for $30 before shipping. Maybe they're promising day 1 shipping (he advertises he will ship within 7 days after the official release), I don't know, but I can wait a few weeks after release to receive these.

Yeah, someone's either losing his job or getting sued. Probably the latter, since I would imagine anyone leaking the document must have been fired/laid off and released it out of spite. I get why Wizards needs to have control of this information, but honestly, all the leak has done is INCREASE hype across the board.

My only problem with it is that I live in..Hungary :D

Why does it say Mirrodin Beseiged is to be released on 5/13/11?
Typo, I'm sure. The title and description clearly say New Phyrexia, and the guy has over 10,000 unique positive feedbacks. That's a trustworthy seller in my books.

While I dont believe that that is a real Lotus, I'd faint if I saw someone do that in real life. Just the thought of it chills me.

Go grab a magic card and do that. It doesn't hurt it, in fact it's the best way to check if it's a real or a fake. Fake's will immediately crease down the middle, real cards won't. I would never ever buy any power 9 without doing that bend check first, way too many fakes out there.

Really? I never knew that. I have to say that's really unnerving if you didn't know that and saw someone doing that with that expensive of a card.

It is scary but it is the legit test to see if it is a fake.
I have had to do it many times in my day and caught many fakes that way whether it be a mox, lotus, or a walk or twister.
Also seen people do it alllllll wrong and end up ruining a card.
We used to practice on commons for so long when I was seriously buying and trading collections.

Flipping back to NPH... any speculators in here? Now that many of us have checked out the complete spoiler, what screams money? I just checked on SCG, and none of the Praetors are prohibitively expensive. It seems the early money mythics are the new Sword, Obliterator, Karn, and Batterskull. Only Karn and Batterskull look like they'll hold value for the first month. Caw-Blade isn't going to be stupidly dominant anymore, which will bring the prices of all the Swords down, and now that we know there's nothing in NPH that particularly supports the Obliterator's ability, I see him falling *fast*.

Then there are the rares! We've got Melira, Puresteel Paladin, Surgical Extraction, the W/G Chancellors (B/R/U are kinda meh), the Torpor thing, Myr Superion, Hex Parasite, Birthing Pod, Jor Kadeen, a bunch of others...

I'm tempted to buy two playsets of Urabrask, since he's only $5/pop to pre-order off eBay and seems versatile and powerful enough to see significant play. The RW legend is also pretty neat and appears to be a staple in RW Battlecry. Starcity Games has priced Vorinclex at $4; may bite on those. If the Titans don't get reprinted (though I think they will be), a bunch of these cards are skyrocketing in value, no doubt about it.

There is so much goodness in this set. I get excited just typing about it. I'm such a fucking nerd.
