Well yeah, that was just the crazy expensive card I thought of first.
I can see some cards from the rarer sets (Portal Three Kingdoms) making it, though. We got a couple in FTV: Legends after all. C'mon Imperial Recruiter.

There is no other foil printing.
People don't like the FTV-style foils for competitive decks, generally. (They risk sticking up too much as well.)Same can be said of Sun Quan, Mox Diamond, Black Vise, Cao Cao, and multiple other FTV foils -- printed in much lower quantities than this.
They're all on par with or cheaper than the original printings. People don't like foils, especially when they're mass-produced with an undesirable expansion symbol.
With the exception of judge foils, being the only foil printing has never influenced the price of a card.

I have no idea how they justify that price.
10 oversized foils.... The commander ones are rotting for 0.50 each at my LGS, and have survived multiple 50% off sales. Probably 40 of each sitting there. They're never going anywhere.
These -might- fetch a dollar each if this product ends up rotting on shelves, but if the singles are worth anything, they're all just going to rot at 0.50 each like the commander ones.
Basically, nobody fucking wants oversized foils. I am the only person I know who has ever used one in a game of EDH.
New life counter looks really cheaply made; the plastic doesn't even appear to be sitting right in the product picture. Maybe a $2 trinket.
Ultrapro sleeves are $1.50-$2 for a pack of 50. $5 is generous for those (protip: they suck).
The pokemon-looking damage counters are absolutely worthless.
So, the "goodies" are worth maybe $12, leaving this as a $63 From the Vault product with no spindown.
What the fuck Wizards.
The only way I'll purchase this is if they throw Imperial Recruiter in it.

This was a stopgap measure in between Commander last year and the move to yearly Commander decks next year- they have a nasty year-long time lag that gives them maneuverability than the Titanic.
Well according to info from SDCC this is supposed to be this year's extra product like the Premium Deck Series we've been getting for the past three years.
Next year I assume in the summer we will see 5 more Commander decks released since they were uber popular. For fall of 2013 they might do this again if it proves to be successful.
They mentioned it's intended as a permanent thing. They had been rotating between the various multiplayer decks, but Commander's sales blew the others out of the water.Well according to info from SDCC this is supposed to be this year's extra product like the Premium Deck Series we've been getting for the past three years.

I would be surprised if we don't get normal sized versions of all the oversized cards.
Dear wizards:
4-color commander product.
Fucking make it happen.
I doubt it. Didn't they say the normal-sized ones would mostly be foils of never-before-foiled cards?
The problem they had here is that they didn't have the feedback from the Helvault events (Very few people actually use them!) to inform their decision here.Possibly. I don't hate oversized cards, but I don't know anyone who uses them in the fashion Wizards seems to intend (to accompany Commander decks)

Now that you mention it, I wouldn't mind a foiley oversized Ashling, the Pilgrim.I'd totally use them if there were oversized versions of the Commanders I want to use. I think Sharuum the Hegemon is quite likely to be there (she's heading my charge counter deck), and I could change around my green deck to use Azusa, but the others aren't looking likely...

75 dollars my ass. This is the same mistakes many companies make during fat times that will come back and bite them during the lean times. Limited run, expensive, non-standard sets will cause consumer backlash before long.
Thing is, this absolutely would command that price, no matter the MSRP.75 dollars my ass. This is the same mistakes many companies make during fat times that will come back and bite them during the lean times. Limited run, expensive, non-standard sets will cause consumer backlash before long.
It's not. It's a one-shot thing to replace the PDS (which didn't sell.) They're doing new Commander decks every year starting next year.I don't think Commander's Arsenal is necessarily a permanent thing. I believe from the SDCC they said that a Commander product is going to be a yearly thing because yeah it was ridiculously more popular than the other products. Planechase was pretty successful and why we saw it return. I don't think Archenemy really did that well, at least around here anyway.

I suspect this won't make it to most mass-market stores. The MSRP just screams "Steal me!"Yeah, just wanted to make sure we were all on the same page there. I pray that Commander's Arsenal bombs like PDS did so they can never do this again. I think a 75 dollar MSRP of specific singles that isn't limited to B&M stores like FTV is Wizards starting to dip into unwanted territory.

Also, I don't know if seeing a 75 dollar box on the shelf in Walmart that has 18 cards in it would send the best message about Magic.

The PDS decks just didn't sell.Exactly. They understand design space...but clearly they don't understand that marketing space is equally important to consider. This occupies the same space the PDS occupies, which is a premium set that appeals mostly to new casuals. They're cute, but unless the cards become playable in standard, or they're reprints of ridiculous legacy or modern staples, then they're sitting in a sales dead zone.
The PDS decks just didn't sell.
The deck I T8'd with is insane (BBD Township NayaPod.) It blows up other creature decks.
So, Flames of the Firebrand and Arc Lightning are exactly the same, right? Why would they print the same card with a different name? Just for flavor?
I really want to play Naya. I'm just not sure I'm willing to drop $260 just for the Huntmasters and Bonfires, since my only goal in this is just to play the occasional 8-man or daily event on MTGO once or twice a week, and 2-mans every so often.
Of course, it's likely that any deck that plays red over the next year of standard is going to be obligated to run Bonfire, so maybe I just have to bite the bullet...
So what sleeves do you guys use since everyone said ultra pro sucked on the other page?
I'm pretty sure when drafting drunk, "lsv" are the three letters I am least happy to see >.>
Huntmasters seem to be falling out of favor in Naya decks, from what I've been reading. The game has warped to make them largely irrelevant from what I've gathered. The only deck they helped me against in the Buffalo Open was Delver. Otherwise they felt like a waste. Still, there aren't many great 4 drops in the colors.
