Good thing you can just Abrupt Decay your Zombies right back into play.

God bless abrubt decay.
"That many" meaning the amount of combat damage it dealt?
Yeah a 6 mana creature needs to affect the board right away to be viable in current standard I think. I'm not an expert atm, but that's just a gut feeling.
Like all vampires it's a kitchen table card, not a competitive one.
Well, you know. Except Blood Artist and Aristocrat and Bloodthrone.![]()

Blood Artist is a zombie, he just doesn't know it. Aristocrat doesn't really see any play outside of INN block constructed. I've never seen Bloodthrone in a real deck.

Aristocrat seems like an odd fit in that deck, never seen or played against it though so I'm probably missing something.

Whenever a creature you control deals combat damage to a player, put that many +1/+1 counter on it.
6/5
Does the counter go on the creature that did the damage
Im reading this 2 ways, and im not sure which one is correct..
Does the counter go on the creature that did the damage
Or
Does the counter go on the Necropolis Regent?
First one would be crazy.. second one not so much
Its better then Oblivion Ring in decks that want to run it, but I think its "worse" then Oblivion Ring in that part of why O-Ring is so powerful is that just about any deck with a white component can get utility out of it. Forcing it into two colors diminishes that utility. I don't think it will see as much play in terms of quantity.
It gets around Misdirection, however.Shame that Overloading that doesn't get around "Can't be countered" like sweepers get around Hexproof.
To help out with all those damn counter wars we keep seeing in standard clearly. Thanks wizards.
How is this card going to help control at all? Dissipate is much better in almost every situation outside of vs storm. It's the worst of the cannot counter cycle by quite a bit.Lol. Now what will the "control is dead" crowd whine about?
I'm thinking this card is geared for the Modern crowd, actually.
Many of these spells seem explicitly designed for Modern/Legacy.I'm thinking this card is geared for the Modern crowd, actually.

There could be a control deck in with all these new cards, but working out what colours to be in will be very hard as the good stuff is spread out all over.
State-based effects need to be able to counter a targeted spell with no targets. Why are all the phrasings "Cannot be countered by spells and abilities" as opposed to just "Cannot be countered."
Are there other counters that I'm missing?
edit: WANDERINGWIND, BLUE IS U NOT B.

Yeah, that's the shorthand for it, but it's still technically "countering" by the game rules.I don't get it. Can you give me an example?
edit: Oh, nvm, I see. I thought that was just called "fizzling" or something.

It's a counter that will work 100 percent of the time. It's also very splashable with the abundance of R/B mana sources available in RtR. So, Izzet and Azorious players will likely want this (if they lean toward the control side). Azorious, splashing this with the abundance of detain and the New O-Ring will be a very handy control ready deck.
