R/B already has Dreadbore- a creature kill option would have been redundant in the color combo. (For the same reason, I don't think Golgari Charm will have one either.)

I think the difference is that the other charms seems main deck material in the right deck, but Rakdos Charm is pure sideboard material that's very good at attacking very narrow angles.

Zethren's FNM live stream update #2:

After an upsetting round 1 encounter with Delver, my Humans pulled through in rounds 2 and 3. Yes.

Round 2: Junk Pod. He never saw pod, but destroyed me one of the games with Restoration Angels copying Blade Splicer tokens. I won the other two with a masterful display of human dominance. And Angelic Overseer.

Round 3: BR Vampires. Wasn't much of a contest. The most aggravating parts were his Vampire Nighthawks but I just chumped them with Angelic Overseer and kept others on lock down with Fiend Hunter. Flawless victory.

Round 4 is starting now.

Thanks OnPoint, but in the upset of the century I went 0-2 in the final round.

Got pitted against a friend of mine, rocking a WG pod deck. The previous round he had actually had his Elesh Norn stolen/lost some how so that was a huge bummer. But he still managed to pull out a victory full of Sun Titans, Thragtusks, Blade Splicers and Restoration Angels. I just couldn't compete with that.

But that's okay. Next week I'll come back strong, I can feel it! Elite Inquisitor will remain ever vigilant! Angelic Overseer will be hexproof to any doubt or destruction of hope! Champion of the Parish will band together with his allies, ever stronger!

Final score: 2-2. But as always, rep'd MagicGAF with class and whatever skill I could muster.

Also scored a few trades: traded a Champion of the Parish and Druid's Repository for 2 Cackling Counterparts (gonna rock Bant Populate when RTR hits), a Silklash Spider, a Rancor, and a Rhox Faithmender.

Also, I'm dissolving my black zombie deck. I have these for trade:

3x Gravecrawler
3x Geralf's Messenger

I'm ideally looking for Restoration Angels and Thragtusks, but make some offers anyone who's interested!

Zealous comes into play, you then grab a permanent until end of turn. Then you put Twin on it, make a new Zealous, and may then grab another permanent.

Grabbing the original Zealous with your Twin'd one won't reactivate the original's ability, no. The original isn't re-entering the battlefield.

Edit: Wait, I misunderstood what you are trying to do. Let me get back to you.

no, you use splinter twins ability to make more tokens of zealous conscripts, which has haste

Right, I misunderstood what you were trying to do. I edited my first post just now to reflect that.

Honestly it comes down to whether or not you can "gain control" of one of your own permanents you already control. If so, yes you can make infinite zealous conscripts that way.

Won FNM tonight with a Nicol Bolas deck! I got passed him Pack 1 Pick 2, and decided to go all in on him. Ended up with an insane deck including 2 Fog Banks, 2 Flames of the Firebrand, 2 Volcanic Geyser, 3 Turn to Slag, a Gem of Becoming, and tons of other good stuff. I was only able to cast Bolas twice all night, both in games i was probably going to win anyways, but it was a ton of fun. If you haven't had the Bolas draft experience, I highly reccomend it.

Limited is fun, it's a shame that the card shop I like to frequent never does limited events outside of pre-releases.

I have to go to a less...desirable store to get my limited fix.

Anything past those formats gets really pricey from what I've seen. Standard is expensive enough :P

Oh yeah, limited is always fun. My shop does standard FNM and sealed drafts every Friday. Good times.

forgot limited too, I love limited

anybody got idea on how to use Guan Yu in some fun ways

Only one that I love using is Farrel's Mantle with any creature with horsemanship

Before I came to the land of no MTG, I had pretty much started doing limited exclusively. I love that it does a great job of weeding out the scrub players who could otherwise skirt by on the strength of their borrowed deck or netdeck. If you are a shit player, limited will make that clear.
Plus it negated the need to buy boosters, I almost always made top 4 so I always walked around with packs to satisfy my booster addiction.

I'm pretty much exclusively a limited player at this point. I have zero creativity when it comes to building decks, so drafting negates that problem, and provides a more fun game of Magic, without all the crazy stuff you can do in Modern and Standard.

I'm going to do this for the next couple of months I think. I don't have the money to invest in standard so I'd rather draft and get better at that.

I think post rotation I am finally going to build a deck for standard and start playing some FNMs. I am entirely prepared for this to be rather expensive.

Well you can be a dick and build a few hundred dollar decks which most people play, but the good paRt is they are usually bad.

Just build a standard deck that seems fun. I like using em for my casual decks against my gf, so she has a better chance to beat me.

I am looking to do some sort of UW control nonsense whether that actually ends up being competitively viable or not. Haven't really started brewing yet on it though.

UW control will certainly be viable for FNMs.

It depends on your area's meta of course, but much of FNM is played with home brew decks or versions of top decks. At least in my area.

I run into pod variants, delver variants, wolf run variants, etc. But they're hardly ever exactly as the pro decks posted online. Just build something fun and enjoy yourself.

always loved UW, the combo of blue bounce and counter with whites ability to board wipe and exile is fun.

all time favorite color combo is black/white though. I wish it was more viable since it's usually not a very potent combo but I love the way the colors interact.

Still pretty new here but thanks to Sublime Archangel, running a B/W exalted deck. Black and white knights, nighthawk vampires, mentor of the meek, silverblade paladin, sign in bloods, victims of the night, cathedrals of war, isolated chapels, cheap exalted creatures, Ajani, restoration angel, serra avenger, angelic overseer, few other jankies like entreat the angels and bloodgift demon.

I know it's pretty bad but still fun, won a few 4 player and 3 player games. Eventually will start buying cards to get more serious. Will probably go G/W when Ravnica comes out.

MagicGAF should start its own team, put together it's own website, and start having a tournament presence. How awesome would that be?

So I went to go to this one in person. The line was an expected 4 hour wait.

No motherfucking amount of swapping and playing is worth that shit.

Damn, that sucks dude. How long was the drive for you?

Oh, zero, basically. Was doing other things in LA with the missus. She wanted to draft for the first time today too. Ah, well

Wow really? It says there are only 400 players... that's insane to me that the line would take that long

It's part of a larger comic convention going on. I doubt most people even knew about the MTG stuff.

Any Atlanta players in here going to the SCG event next weekend?

I'm going to try to go on Friday, and maybe some on Saturday evening.

Yes! Go Humans!

Edit:

Alright, Human dominance baby. Suck it zombies.

I still do love you zombies.
