Angel of Serenity vs Angel of Serenity is just silly.

Yeah, you know why I have a pack additction? Because I buy 3 packs and open a Jace and Lotleth and Temple Garden in them.

Almost have a freakin' playset of Jace the Useless.

And SCG may have the inferior players most times, but their stream is usually less buggy for me. Plus, chat is back.

Summer, Replacing the Casual release block (Archenemy/Planechase) release is my guess, with winter being the new time for the Casual release. Thats my read on it anyway- gets commander out the same time that Modern Masters and M14 are out, and the big 15th Anniversary is in full swing

Which is the better card:

It's closer then you may think.

You must be getting my share of the good packs. I bought several over the last couple weeks... Carnival Hellsteed and that uncounterable red/blue counterspell are like the only rares I get :(

Jace.

My reasoning is that T3 needs to either be kept open for Dissipate, or used on GoST in a typical U/W/x deck. Once the opponent's tempo has been disrupted, it becomes safe for Jace to land and start forcing your opponent to deal with him. This on top of the obvious reasons.

Anybody want to trade my Temple Garden/Overgrown Tombs/Jace for your Hinterland Harbor/Blood Crypt?

I will go Blood Crypt for Temple Garden straight up. Looking for anything specific for Jace, in case I can throw it in for that too? I'd say I can do Overgrown Tomb too if you'd like

I bought 3 boxes of AVR and never pulled an Entreat. If you have any for trade, I hate Jace and have 3 of the fuckers.

This could be it

This is the first time i've seen a primarily green reanimator deck.

Craterhoof saw a bit of play pre RTR with the elf wave deck that was going around but yea winning 1 grand prix and placing highly in another on the same weekend will definitely crank a card's value.

Really? It's been around since rotation pretty much. It's mana dorks and all the good green cards that you need to dig in the deck.
I haven't really been paying attention to standard with all the modern stuff going on :x

So I'm going to GP Taipei this weekend. I've never actually been to a GP before, so what should I expect? Should I bring all my cards for trade/selling? Only focus on playing tournaments?

Do not bring your collection. Bring trade stuff + decks. What format is it? Depends what you want to get out of the experience re: time allotment.

I've been looking at some recent results. It seems that BR zombies is still a deck.

I think I want to try running it this weekend. There's a huge Grand Prix in town and I'm gonna eat some brains.

There definitely seems to have been a lot of progress made on the standard metagame over the past couple of weeks. I'm just glad to see decks without Thragtusk in the maindeck doing well.

EDIT: Looks like I have one Craterhoof Behemoth in my online collection. Might just have to unload that; maybe for that second Sphinx's Revelation that my UW Flash deck desperately needs.

Its Limited. Limited tournaments on Friday for byes. I was thinking about bringing 1/2 standard decks for casual play along with the rare binder.

Are you talking about the one with Hellriders, Thundermaw, and Falkenrath Aristocrat?

I'm glad I picked up Thundermaw when they dropped around the $13 range. They're going up again.

I picked up a bunch of stuff on MTGO right before rotation that I thought was going to do well. I only wish that I had thought to buy more Thundermaws; I got 2 at $7 apiece, and they're $25 apiece now. I also picked up four Thragtusk at $5 apiece (they're $14 apiece now), and four Restoration Angel at $7 (they're $20 apiece now).

Please be our financial advisor, divisonbyzorro.

Step One: Be Psychic.

What I of course didn't mention was that I bought a few Sorins and Garruks, and then bailed pretty soon after instead of holding them. Had I kept them, they would have more than doubled in price as well.

I'm still holding out on the foil Thundermaw I have hitting the $50 max ceiling before I try to unload it at about $40.

Jesus how can Magic Online be so bad, it won't reset my password. The site simply doesn't load after I click "next".
I remember when I signed up I had to contact their customer service to activate my account (even though I was promptly charged).
This served to remind me why I don't play Magic Online.

You don't have to be psychic.

You just need to be able to catch trends and get in before the door closes.

This is exactly it.

A) Be able to understand what actually constitutes a good card.
B) Keep up , even if it is just glancing at deck lists from big events.
C) Keep an eye on buy list changes on sites like SCG and TCG

Hoof went up overnight.
He didn't. He exploded overnight, but SCG had moved him to 7 the week before, which is when I bought my playset for ten bucks. Same way I got my bonfires for $16- I saw the card moving to 10-12 on the top end, so I ran and grabbed one of the last remaining Ebay auctions.
