It's a pre-school cartoon though :(

I wish they would make more ReBoot episodes.
The writing has always in superb in this show - full of computer jokes, pop culture references, and interesting character dynamics.

Season 3 was also really fucking awesome. The writers took a regular ol' ABC episodic cartoon and put in continuity, a "new" darkish character, and exceeded the fans' wildest expectations. The story and characters were more mature, and there was more violence in it.
In a sense, ReBoot turned from a cartoon into a good sci-fi series.

*sniff* brilliant show.
Beast Wars was really well-written too, but a lot of Transformer fans were too stubborn with canon to appreciate that show.

Supersonic, idiotic, disconnecting, not respecting, who would really ever wanna go and top that
Yeah, Season 3 was when things got good. Before that I didn't really care for the show. I think the ending was fine, but I guess another show couldn't hurt.

I'll never understand why people hate Beast Wars, that show was great. I loved all the seasons of that. Beast Machines was a totally different story though...

STFU Beast Machines was way better than Beast Wars, in every way. Animation and story line to Beast Machines, were far superior to Beast Wras. The ending or Beast Machines, just fucking owned anything Beast Wars. Not saying Beast Wars was bad, but I think both series gets pissed on far more than they should.

Personally I liked the end of Beast Wars and the beginning of Beast Machines. Before that, Beast Wars was kinda meh (like early Reboot, though I loved it even then), and the ending of Machines was just terrible.

ShadowRed: Your opinion is in the minority, and I question your taste.

Beast Machines had horrible writing. They completely changed and ruined the previous characters, and they also made some pretty poor choices as well.

(Hey, let's make a bat character that's like a teenager and he's like all angsty.
You know how they should transform? By the power of ZEN. What's the point of this? I don't know. It's like Nature vs Technology, man.)

God, that was such an annoying series. It really paled against the last season of Beast Wars.

I might have gotten the shows mixed up. Isn't Beast Machines when they go back to Cybertron and Beast Wars when they were on prehistoric Earth? If so then I'm talking about the Cybertron show, being better than the Earth show. The one that ended the series with Primal and megatron reforming Cybertron.

Yes, you have them the right way around.

GG: Well, if you're talking about the leopard one (names escape me at the moment), he was a bratty teenager in both?

You totaly missed the point of the show. It was about bringing Cybertron in balance with the organic and inorganic. It was Nature vs Tech, and in the end Primal realized that it shouldn't be that way that for things to be right it had to be in balance, hence he and Megatron melding and reforming Cybertron as a mixture of the two. I found that fucking cool as hell that is wan't just the same old good guys are good bad guys are bad routine. The animation on the show was light years ahead of the Earth based series. It's like looking at an old PS game after playing a PS2 game, it just looks all wrong.

maharg: yeah, Cheetor was a brat at first and changed as his power increased, his character is very Robin-like. Nightscream is just a rebel from the start.

Shadow: ultimately, that's what made the show really weird

the writers had a goal in mind. they wanted to focus on this theme of Nature vs Technology - thus they forced a lot of stuff in there that didn't really belong.
It didn't belong in the universe (which is a minor complaint), it didn't belong to those particular characters.
And, again, I think they packed a lot of bad choices. There is just so much drama in one episode. It's like they were trying to keep the rhythm of the last season of Beast Wars but with their own theme in mind.

Dead

well not really...yet
Beast wars season 2 and 3 are so fucking good even the series finale was fantastic.

Beast Machines was also good in its own right

So, like, um, in ReBoot, Enzo kills virus'es. Yeah.

Seriously, if you have not seen ReBoot season 3, you should check it out.

EDIT: Apparently, I'm in the minority on the GAF and I question my tastes. Whee.

it would appear the was doing concept art for merchandising - that backpack is pretty cool.

Actually, those were a semi-joke, kill some time projects. That last one was an idea for Season 3 offical T shirt. :D

I worked on pre-production of Reboot season 3, Beast Wars season 3, and Weird-Oh's. I only got credits for Reboot season 3 because I was an American resident (Mainframe must maintain a high Candian workforce % to keep Canadian government funding, and I got cut off for the rest of the shows to maintain that figure).

edit: On behalf of all Mainframe employees past and present, Gracias, GG-Duo. ;)

Ok, so what happened at the end of Reboot? The last episode I saw was Bob and Megabyte fighting in a church and then Cartoon Network didn't air the last episode.

So you're saying that you worked on the awesomest seasons for the awesomest mainframe shows. Hrmm. I see. :D

Yeah, what are the prospects of a Season 5, or more YTV movies? This Binomes project is probably an attempt to revive interest in the series? (I realize that you're probably not working there anymore but I'll ask anyway.)

IIRC, Mainframe was also bleeding money like crazy back in those days. And that's when they started doing those Barbie and Casper videos, I believe?

Ian never should have taken the company public, but hind sight is 20/20. This was '99 after all. No one really knew that anything tech related would take a big dump soon.
