Major PS4 System Software Update v2.0 Available NOW

How do you do that?

  1. From the PS4 Menu (XMB), scroll right to Settings > Network > Set Up Internet Connection > Select either Wi-Fi or LAN cable (Wired)
  2. Wi-Fi: Custom > Select Network > Enter Password (automatically saved if you are already using this network) > IP Address Settings (automatic) > DHCP Host Name (Do Not Use) > DNS Settings (Manual)
  3. LAN (Wired): Custom > IP Address Settings (Automatic) > DHCP Host Name (Do Not Use) > DNS Settings (Manual)
  4. From there, enter the Primary DNS and Secondary DNS
  5. Next > MTU Settings (Automatic) > Proxy Server (Do Not Use) > Test Internet Connection

Some common DNS servers to try:

Google 1: 8.8.8.8
Google 2: 8.8.4.4
OpenDNS 1: 208.67.222.222
OpenDNS 2: 208.67.220.220

Does anyone know if this update has wiped all remote play settings and the psn app connection? My vita and phone ain't finding my ps4 whereas they'd work without issues before the update

I had this happen a long while ago. Work fine one day then the next it couldn't be found by my phone or the vita(as a compainion app) haven't gotten it to work since. Did you happen to put your ps4 in a dmz?

sooo guys I got a auto update black screen on my ps3 and my ps4 and it would not let me turn off my system anyone else ...????

But I don't need to suspend the game if I use YouTube.com/tv in the browser. I can alternate between them with no problems.

Ok yeah. With applications you have to suspend games.

And by the way, wow audio quality has improved so much with this update. Damn. I don't know what they did over in Japan but chat quality in streams sound so clear.

It might be me but game audio sounds better too?

Those of you talking about the youtube upload problem and saying to revoke access from Google - where exactly? My PS4 isn't showing up under Google/account/security/account permissions which is the only place I can think of.

I'm trying to upload to a second youtube channel I made just for PSN, not the default youtube account that is automatically attached to your normal Google login, just in case that makes any difference. I linked it on both my PS4s (both required a few tries), but neither will upload

Anyone else with volume issues on the Sony gold headset..

I want to play more mordor but those loud sound effects..

Follow-up from the other day: I got my Golds in from Amazon. Played Spelunky without a sound profile and Destiny with a sound profile from the app. I have no context of how they sounded before the 2.0 update, but they seem to be working as intended. No loud sound effect issues or anything like that. Don't have Mordor, so I can't test that one out.

So my friend and I were trying to see if you could do splitscreen online multiplayer with Shareplay. We tried with COD: Ghosts. When you get to the part where it asks a second player to push x to join, it prompts that user to sign in (presumably as a guest), when they hit sign in, it says the user cannot access this feature.

Now I am wondering if a second controller on the Shareplay host's end would fix this. Say you sign in your second physical controller and then pass the Shareplay controller to your guest. Anyone with a second controller and viable game care to test this and report back?

I have the golds and Mordor and it sounds fine. I'm using the Destiny profile most likely.

Remote Play is massively improved for me. I'd always get frequent connection interruptions where it'd go all glitchy for a few moments (on my home network, ps4 is wired, going through the router instead of Connect Directly), and in the last twenty minutes of playing I haven't had it happen a single time. Pumped. I'd love to see how well RP works with a PS TV now.

Can't believe they broke the standby mode feature. I can't put the system into "rest mode" because I get stuck with the flashing orange light bar. This then forces me to hard-restart the system. Happens every time. Unbelievable.

The thing is, every "solution" posted has been debunked by at least a few people, in their cases.

The reason is people are being knee-jerk, and, probably motivated to want to be "the one" who found "THE answer"... but basically this happens:

  1. User experiences rest mode glitch
  2. User tries {something}
  3. User gets different result
  4. User assumes #2 must have solved the issue
  5. User rushes to post "solution"

Who has time to rigorously test and try to falsify theories anyway? Who are we, Neil Degrasse Tyson(s)?

I'll wait for a real fix and the real fix is a firmware update, not a bandaid we shouldn't be forced into.

My router must be the worst in the world because even if I'm connected to it when it's in the room next to mines(literally 10 ft away from me), remote play is absolutely terrible. Sound is laggy and behind the TV and I keep getting artifacts and the poor connection icon comes up. It wasn't like that before. Direct connection to the PS4 works MUCH better as the sound isn't laggy and it feels responsive. I have a linksys e1200 router.

Sorry man, you should be able to boot up any game during maintenance.
Actually it appears to just be the Warriors/Musou games that won't boot up for some reason. I dunno if they rely on the PSN to even move or not. Shadow of Mordor boots up just fine, what the heck.

EDIT: As per advice from the Samurai Warriors OT turning the system off, unplugging it and going through that whole routine (though not sure if unplugging is necessary, I did it for good measure) fixes that disc booting issue. Just a heads up if it happens to anyone else.

Is there a way to choose which game's streams are shown in the what's new screen, or just not show any? I don't want to have to look at another Evil Within screen ever again.

Also, is there a way to force save uploads since rest mode is broken? if only someone could invent a way for a console to boot up at a specific user-chosen time of day to perform uploads, updates, etc...

Has anyone noticed that the PS button logo they used in notifications has a bad... Photoshop/cropping job?

If you see the bottom right of the circle you may get to see some white dots (if I'm not wrong)

Or may they sharpened that pic too much?

Use a network survey app like WiFi Analyzer on a mobile device to check if there are other networks on the same channel. Try to find an empty channel and switch your router to it
Yeah that's my permissions but neither ps4 appears (or anything from Sony that might be related). Yet both play stations insist they are paired with youtube..
It's called PSN in settings.

Yesterday when I got home from work, I had the pulsing orange light AGAIN. I already did the steps to rebuild the database and such. Anyone else have another issue with the system not turning on until you unplug?

edit: Nevermind. Looks like it's a thing now. Ugh.

Thanks, but like I said, nothing Sony related (but good to know the specific term to look for). Will see if I can unpair from the PS4 side

Edit: ok, when I pair with youtube and sign in with Google, Google shows me both of my youtube channels, with my personal one as default. i've been selecting the second one which then immediately goes to a screen that says it is connected (and then doesn't work)

I just tried selecting the default channel, and *that* takes me to a second Google page where it lists all the permissions that SEN wants.

So for me at least it seems like I can't choose a specific youtube channel to link to, it has to be the default one. Anyone had luck selecting a secondary youtube channel?

Are you sure you're using the correct account? I know, this may sound stupid but G+ system is something I can't really comprehend. When I was pairing my YT settings, I got a choice of my regular Google account and my company account I have attached there. I don't get that choice normally when using Gmail (I use 2 accounts so I switch between them). Check if you have more than one choice here https://plus.google.com/u/0/dashboard
I remember I had some problems while pairing YT with Google account a few months ago. They used to be separate, now they're forcing you to have it together.

Edited my post but I think you might have something. My second youtube channel does have a Google plus page, (I think they all do now when you create them), and I can switch to it from the Google accounts page. But G+ accounts/pages/associations do confuse me so i'll see if there is anything I can fiddle with

I only got this once and that too when I even turned off the console after updating...

But thankfully it was a one time thing only and I did t unplug the cable rather held the power 'button' until I heard the beeps

How quick can they be with a 2.01 version of the firmware to fix issues like this rest mode thing? Any word on whether this is coming?

Thanks to the guy that originally posted about revoking PSN access from the Google account. Finally got around to trying it last night and it worked like a charm. :)

Still having no issues in or out of rest mode *crosses fingers*, although Dust did crash on me last night (no big deal, not really a fan anyway so I'll delete it later).
