I tried that before posting originally. The power button didn't seem to respond. Perhaps my finger wasn't in the "right place" for all 15-20 seconds I held it. Hence my dislike of the non-button button...uh things. But that is definitely good advice and always worth trying before unplugging. Same advice goes for WiiU if it happens to freeze.
 
I like the Check For Update option that Vita and PS3 have had for a while now.
Hate launching a game to get the update prompt.

Yeah that annoys the fuck out of me too. No Sony, I did not power down incorrectly, your shit just crashed.

Anyway, once it goes through and rebuilds the database again, all should be well. I seem to go through this madness every other update.
 
YOUTUBE is not up on the US PSN store yet. Neither are THEMES. Wait until PSN updates later and they'll be available to download (probably). They're available everywhere else.

Had the exact problem you just described. Power button did nothing and Eject button only resulted in a beep. Unplug the PS4 and turn it back on, it'll be fine after that.

Are you in the US? Youtube isn't available for download in the US yet. Also, how is your USB drive formated? Make sure it's FAT32 (or probably exFAT, too). Not sure if NTFS will work.

Just create a folder named "Music" then put all your stuff in there.
 
Out of the 3 themes I think I like the papercraft one the best. I like the look of it and the music is nice. The music for the spiral one doesn't suit the theme though.
 
I posted this a few pages back; maybe I should make a PSA thread sharing the things us guinea pigs have learned?

So after reading about the 'rest mode' glitch (before i updated), here is what I did, and I have avoided any issue, for whatever it's worth. What I was reading seemed like it could get bugged when going directly into rest mode after the update is applied, maybe something slightly corrupted, and then users pull the plug and it needs a scary dB rebuild. To avoid it, I:

- applied update
- turned off PS4 completely (Power Off, stayed plugged in)
- turned on PS4
- went to Rest mode

And it seems fine. I recommend doing a full power off after you update, just once.

Hm. Tried a USB that was already Fat32 then tried NTFS, PS4 says file system no go on both. I'll try formatting to Fat32. Maybe it needs to be a fresh somehow? I dunno.
 
I still cant link my YouTube account. It lets me sign in but when it's transitioning back to the ps ui it gives me an error connecting to server.

Standby mode. That's usually the way I keep it. Almost never turn int all the way "off", unless we are going to be away for awhile (like overnight or longer).
 
Did anybody's remote play through PS Vita stop working today?

Had to update my vita, but still could not connect afterwards.

Perhaps my PS4 updated while I'm away from home?

Can they download them from other region stores?, you know many have all region accounts

at least do it properly and get the naming right... it is not pause/resume but standby. It looks pretty silly when you are "on PS4 typing this" and then you type pause/resume instead of standby.
 
This update fucked up system standby, it goes into standby but the orange light keeps blinking, I can't wake the system up with the controller or power button I have to pull the power plug and plug it back in to get the console to turn back on.

Your PS4 likely downloaded the updated and it's waiting to install. You won't be able to log into it until it finishes.

Touch wood mine seems to be ok but quite a few people seem to be mentioning this problem, hopefully this isn't a widespread issue.

That comes with every update ever in the history of tech. It improves things. It added some most requested things and fixed a lot of other annoyances. It's a bit more organized and customizable. You took the hype the wrong way expecting it was going to be the firmware updates to end all firmware updates conversation (from the way you suddenly projected your own assumption on the other poster) but it was always an update to improve things and make things easier.

Pause resume is a valid complaint I can't argue with.

First, try holding down the power button for about 10 seconds. See if that works. If not, unplug it for about 10 to 15 seconds. That should do it.

"Rest Mode" seems sorta wonky. A bunch of us are having issues with it post update.
 
Excellent! Updated without a hitch - no issues what so ever except signing in to Youtube app. Could be an issue on Youtube end, who knows. Not particularly bothered as I know it will be sorted out real soon and the Youtube app itself is really good.
After making us wait so long I am glad Sony delivered with this update. For me there are very few things that I still need to make the ps4 my primary media device - an honor that the ps3 holds right now.

I am talking about the pause-resume for games, remember that? Like pausing a Vita game leave and start again from the same spot.
